Re: Whitecross Cleared..

Well that'll teach him for taking the money and running off to captain the Gold Coast Suns

Oh wait, wrong son of God ?

Yeah, the other one.

Re: Whitecross Cleared..

Should never have been cited - and good on Selwood for saying there was nothing in it.

Cats fans saying he should get weeks, come on. Don't ruin a hard game with partisan calls.

Thankfully he was cleared. Should never have been cited in the first place.

After a 100-minute hearing, the tribunal took just 11 minutes to clear Whitecross. Makes the trolls who genuinely wanted Whitecross banned look like idiots.

Glad Whitecross has been cleared. It was an ugly clash, but there was no malice in his actions, just two players going hard at. You could tell it wasn't intentional by the way Whitecross immediately responded to the incident. Selwood is crazy brave, so this kind of thing will happen from time to time. Good sense has prevailed in the end.

Yes mate...I guess if it walks like a duck.......

It’s the right end result but I still think it is a concern that it even got that far. Players shouldn’t have to be appealing and risking further time on the sidelines for issues that are thrown out so quickly.

Re: Whitecross Cleared..

From the very first game he stepped on a football field that has never been in question.

I think Selwood knows that whitecross deliberately had him in his crosshairs but is man enough to let dubious acts on the football stay on the football field, that's just the way he rolls. Holds no grudges and just keeps on punching.

Pity guerra couldn't do the likewise for Selwood last year.

Selwood is renown for having eyes only for the ball, his record up to that incident was exemplary..

If Selwood said his contact was accidental and was just fending off a player whose sole intent was to stop him from running where he wanted to go then he had to be given the benefit of the doubt.

Sadly guerra is not one tenth the man Selwood is (or will ever be) and let him rot in front that laughable kangaroo court. Perhaps guerra was even by adviced by those at his club to refrain from saying anything.

Therein lies one of the key differences between Geelong and Hawthorn.

This is either a joke or a written monument to stupidity and bitterness. You make that many assumptions and baseless accusations it is disgraceful.

This is the kind of post which causes me to despise Geelong.

However, despite the sheer arrogance and nastiness of this post, I must say I was impressed with Joel Selwood's conduct after the match. His phone call to Whitecross was a classy thing to do. :thumbsu:

So kudos to Selwood and the Geelong FC. It is not the club's fault if some fans are less than agreeable - and please note, that applies to ALL clubs!

This.

Really makes me wonder when doctors say that the major cause of blindness in this country is cataracts... quite obviously it's footy jumpers.

:eek::eek:

The two cases are nothing alike.

Get off your soapbox, mate...or go cry in a different thread..there must be a "It Guerra's Fault Selwood Smashed His Eardrum Way Off the Ball" on the Cats board somewhere...

FWIW, Selwood is a great, and generally scrupulously fair player, but on that occasion he screwed up. There was nothing Guerra could have said to change the fact that Selwood caused considerable damage to him. Deliberately? No...but without the care the AFL demands.

Correct decision made, can see why it was cited though.

Spot on.

Amongst all the hysteria from supporters of both teams, the correct decision was reached. The MRP had enough reasons to cite him and its understandable why they did. The tribunal did its job and based its decision not just on the video but from oral evidence.

This case is evidence that the current tribunal system works extremely well.
