Interesting thread (deserves a poll attached!)
If Brisbane don't win this year - they never will with this list.
Collingwood have been playing attractive football, so probably deserve the flag.
I'd like Port to win for Kenny, but I don't think they have the depth.
I'm old enough to remember the entitlement of Carlton supporters.
But I actually respect Sydney - they are always competitive and never really bottom out (bit like us). Last year before the GF, I realised that if Sydney won, I wouldn't hate them like I hate Hawthorn and Richmond.

I'll add one in about 10/15 minutes once the last spot is known

Pies
Lions
Port
Demons

Blues
Saints
GWS
Swans

Blues/Swans
Saints /GWS
interesting Elim finals.

3 Melbourne based finals.
Wonder if any Elim finals at Marvel.

Saints lost and finish 6th.

4 new finalists
4 finalists from 22

Some good stories leading to this finals series.
My favourite is Port's top 4 finish.
Second is the GWS climb into the 8.
Third is Swans recovering from what they showed early 22- abysmal.
Next is Vossy getting belief back into the Blues- 9 consecutive wins.
Then the consistency of Collingwood until August.

Yeah despite me earlier saying that the 2023 Swans are the least deserving finalists (cause of the Adelaide non goal fiasco that would've completely changed the dynamic of the last round), I do respect their efforts as a club. They also had to deal with a horror injury saga and I always feel bad for sides that get thrashed in a grand final.

So I'm happy for them to win a surprise final or two.

Carlton it'd almost be worth them winning for the hype of a Carlton/Collingwood final. I don't mind their team and until personally provoked by fresh Carlton supporters there's no grudge.

But really of the teams I've watched this season those battling Giants have shown the most character, the biggest adversarial wins and over the years have remained largely competitive - not a basket case like GC. Sure they have no fans but the actual players show some heart and have stuck at it. They overachieved in the 2019 finals series before badly capitulating in the big dance. Pipe dream wise it'd be cool to see them go one better for the guys that stuck around.

If they happen to fluke winning it - like they have qualified - so they are a statistical chance

But if they won the flag - then you would have to pose the question - who was the last premier who in that season who got beaten by the Wooden Spoonist- because the Eagles beat GWS early in the year - might be Geel in 1963 - Fitzroy only won one game that year - they beat the Cats at Brunswick St

Call me crazy but I think they'll beat St Kilda and a Lions 2019 SF rematch would be very interesting. That would require Port winning on the road next week. Will they have Marshall and Dixon back? Without them they don't look very potent.

As for your question I honestly have no Idea.

I voted for the Aints cos of what I said above. Sad but they were not up to it.

IMO Toby Greene is one of - if not the - best players in the comp right now, and despite the fact that he is an arse, I would not mind it coming together just for him. BUT GWS is a pretend team and that I do not like.

I am leaning to the Blues mainly cos of Voss and a his big FU to a lot of people. And I cannot cop the filth.

Alternatively the Demons, and though there is a bit out there about Goodwin, that should not take away from a very good team.

Reckon Collingwood lost a lot of admiration on Friday.

No matter what your thoughts on the Maynard bump are, cheering as a chronically concussed player is knocked out on the grass while his family watches on is poor form.

Add that to the Henry, JHF & Buddy treatment this year, as well as whinging about the same thing happening to Naicos & Ginnivan.

No supporter base is all good or all bad, but gee, they do make it hard to like them.

I'd be rapt. But just can't see it yet. Too many away games.
They have been massive underdogs for 3 months, climbing from bottom 4 to a semi final. Half a dozen great road trip wins during that time including a few against top 8 sides.

They'll once again be underdogs but the loser of Brisbane and Port will be nervous given their recent finals history.

GWS can beat Port next week. Pity as I like them both.

You don't need to pump them up for me- I rate them, and if Pies , Port not in it, would love to see GWS win it, but 4 away trips for a premiership- has it ever been done?

I don't think so. Doggies '16 probably closest. Played on 3 opposition home grounds and then a neutral ground for the GF.

GWS in 2019 did beat Brisbane at the Gabba and Collingwood at the MCG on the way to a GF birth from 6th. They were awful on GF day but Richmond in 2019 were a tougher prospect than any current side.
