maxwell is a very average defender. He is an average kick, is not creative & he only beat defenders b/c he had swan/pendlebury/o'bree infront of him. He's a battler.

no saints in the backline in the starting 22
what the? our against was almost 400 points (66 goals) better then the cats and about 370 better then the pies,
also Davis in what the? what about LeCras?
LeCras daylight davis
can't agree more with you. how can the best defensive unit in the game not have 1 player in the season's best defensive 6? goodwin over goddard as the running quarterback style half back flanker is nothing short of laughable on what i have seen this year. gilbert must have been close and probably lost out to maxwell on the other flank, i reckon i would have given gilbert the nod just despite maxwell having the sort of year that was deserving of being around the mark for selection
and leon's selection in the forward pocket is also a bit baffling - his best football was in the 1st 15-16 rounds when he was playing predominantly a midfield role. he tailed off late in the year when clearly playing injured and being confined to a forward pocket role. would have thought le cras is very stiff
and one other point - dane swan on a half forward flank?? come on what a load of crap, he has been 1 of the top 2 midfielders in the comp all year on whatever analysis you care to choose and should have been selected accordingly. the selectors need to get over their love affair with the likes of joel selwood who clearly had an inferior year in the midfield to swan and must surely be lucky to be in the 22 let alone the 18

Yeah just a bit!!
At least they would be in the position they play.
Lake, back pocket ?
Swan, half forward ?
J. Brown, forward pocket ?
Collingwood have lobbied well this year after bitching in prior years. Maxwell and Davis over Goddard and LeCras/Porplyzia = AA awards officially a joke.
Gee, I can't see why a panel containing an administrator (Dimwitriou) and a LAWYER (Anderson), not to mention a senile IDIOT in Bartlett, wouldn't be good at picking a decent AA side.
It's a real mystery.
The only reason Lake was in the pocket was due to credits built up from Scarlett in previous years. Lake was clearly the better full back in 09', so how about lose the narcistic Geelong hat and change the above to Scarlett, back pocket?
The rest of your statement is true, Davis and Maxwell over Goddard, Le Cras & the porpoise makes 0 sense... I know who'd I choose!!!
The All Australian selection panel comprises Andrew Demetriou (chairman), Adrian Anderson, Kevin Bartlett, Gerard Healy, James Hird, Glen Jakovich, Mark Ricciuto and Robert Walls.
Tad defensive aren't we ??
I don't have problem with Lake being in the side, but he is not a back pocket, as J.Brown is not a forward pocket. As for the Scarlett/Lake comparison, no-one will agree that Lake was the better full-back, because he simply wasn't. Happy to see Lake on the bench as a back up defender, but he is neither the best full-back or in the two best back pockets in the league.
Oh, and the word you are looking for is narcissistic, not narcistic, despite the fact that there is no narcissism in my earlier post.
Robert Walls put Swan half foward flank theres ur solution to everythingAbsolute morons! Seriously this gets worse every year! WTF is that backline?
