To all those saying that Stokes would be cut. You must not have seen much of Geelong.

These are the Melbourne players who would sneak into Geelong's best 22:

B: Whelan Carroll Bartram
HB Rivers Harley Wheatley
C Morton Ablett Green
HF S Johnson Mooney Bruce
F Robertson Neitz Davey
FOLL White Bartel Jones
Int Ottens McLean Ling Sylvia

Players look better in a good team than a bad one. Many melbourne players would walk into the Geelong team.

This is correct. If Melbourne's players are all as vastly inferior to Geelong's then how did we draw with them last year, and beat them the match prior to that in '06.

It is very hard to see it now, but in an equal team with equal support many of Melbourne's players would slot nicely into the Cats' line-up. Their current form is absolutely shaiser at the moment though.

I don't remember you drawing with us last year. I think you are referring to 06. The team has change massively since then.

- S.Johnson, Bartel, Ablett & Kelly at 21-22 vs 23-24
- S.Johnson unfit, Kelly recovering from broken leg
- Egan in his first season
- Ottens playing as an injury plagued forward
- King struggling.
- Stokes yet to get a game in his first season
- Selwood & Hawkins not even on the list
- N.Ablett playing in the reserves
- Harley struggling with injury
- Fitness coach sacked at the end of preseason

It's pretty evident that year was an aberration when you look at 04 & 05 years combined with 07 and early signs of 08.

Not bad, but Wheatley? You've got to be kidding on that one

I hope this is a joke

Cos I'm laughing pretty hard

It is interesting to see Stokes still flies under most peoples radar - even the Ox was going on about how he was a fringe player (not that I would listen to anything he says) and was quickly corrected by Bruce and Dennis.

He would be first on my team sheet every week! Tough little so and so and can kick a goal - My favorite non Essendon player easily!

On the earlier pages a lot of those team selections are missing Mackie who was brilliant last year and a stand out in the GF. Geelongs best 22 for mine is ....

B: Enright, Scarlett, Harley
HB: Milburn, Egan, Mackie
C: Corey, Bartell, Selwood
HF: Johnson, Mooney, Kelly
F: Stokes, Hawkins, Chapman

R: Ottens, Ablett, Ling

Int: Wojincski, Blake, Rooke, Gamble

IMHO..

B: Enright, Scarlett, Harley
HB: Milburn, Egan, Mackie
C: Corey, Bartel, Selwood
HF: Johnson, Mooney, Bruce
F: Davey, Ottens, Chapman

R: White, Ablett, Ling

Int: Jones, Hawkins, Mclean, Stokes

Just when you think he has no more to give GC26 comes out with another doozy. Where on earth do you conjure up this tripe?
why else do people say he needs other players to make him look good ? as I said he does all the team things ,his skilled, can take an overhead mark, kicks goals and plays well under pressure so I don't know where this theory comes form. Its because people think that geelong must have a few players that are made look good so they choose stokes as one of them because hes an aboriginal.

I'm suprised no one has McDonald making the team except me. Ohh and Rivers is well behind Egan as far as career goes. We are talking about an AA here.

1. Jeff White is 100 times the player Blake or West is
2. Cameron the Bruce could u imagine how good he would be in a gun side playing on a flank
3. J Mcdonald would probably get 40 stats per game
4. B Green in a fwd pocket ahead of Gamble or Hawkins... he would be amazing in that side
