Who gets dropped for Jamo and Bower next week?

As good as last nights effort was, there will be at least 2 inclusions into the Team for Friday nights game against the Pies.

You would expect that Jamo and Bower would be straight into the side....

But who do you drop from a team that has just won by 20 goals?

My two at this stage would be White and ??? I have no idea.

Logic says it would be either Thornton or Watson, but I feel it would be very tough on both players.

Really pleaseing to see that we have some depth finally and players are being made to earn their spots.

I'm looking forward to seeing the boys take on the competitions best and seeing exactly how much we have or have not improved over the summer!

White as a matter of urgency. The other person is tough to make a call on.

Jamison in for Watson.

I wouldn't be so sure about Bower coming back for the Collingwood match. Ratten said last week that he could've played against Richmond, but they wanted to give him an extra week. Now they've given him an extra two weeks. This just reminds me of last year when he pulled out of the Brisbane games and was "a week away" for over a month.

Watson is already better and has much more upside than white.

Jamo and Hendo in. Out White and Thorton , hendo is a must in my view bc of structures!

T-bird has a ripper prac game playing fwd against crows and again last night Hendo has done nothing close to those performances so far and as such does not warrant a game.

TBird is much more flexible than Hendo so at this stage until Hendo dominates in the twos or Tbird struggles up fwd i am with Tbird

White was our worst player last night. Given that someone has to make way for Jamo, and Watson is bigger than White, and played better, Watson should keep his spot ahead of White

No he wasn't: Watson was, easily. 3 of the GC goals were scored by Dixon beating Watson in one on ones. But that's a pretty normal return for a first game defender you would say...

White was very serviceable. He's been our best defender for the last 2 weeks.

I'd bring in Jamo for Watson, Bower (if fit) for White, Henderson (if fit) for Thornton.

Think The Dugong's first game was pretty handy jvq.

:confused::confused: I will throw Duigan into the mix who hasn't dominated in the first two games like he did preseason.[/QUOTE]

Are you serious??????? I believe both Duigan and Laidler have been amazing the first 2 weeks. Have added toughness, courage, hardness and kicking skills to our half back line which we were in dire need of. Unless they get injured they won`t miss a game this year!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is zero chance of Duigan or Laidler being dropped. Both have been excellent additions.

If Hendo's not available...

In: Jamo, Out: White

One other slight possibility would be Collins for Armfield...maybe. But I'd keep Armfield in though, because the Pies are very vulnerable to pace.

:)

HAVE to get rid of Thornton - i know he may be handy up forward but I would have kicked 4 against the GC, not to mention the amount of mistakes he made last night. Also drop white and Laidler, which is a bit unfair but our ins are better

In: Jamo, bower and hendo

I think Thornton has earnt a reprieve. Jamo for White, Hendo for Army and probably either Hendo or perhaps Thornton subs. I think the sub has to be able to go forward or back and Thornton or Hendo can both do that. Still not convinced the sub needs to be a mid and be bought on for fresh legs. I think a versatile KP is still a better sub than a mid.

And I am still tempted to play Watson forward rather than back and have him kicking for goal from outside 50 all day long.

I think if the sub does not get a full game he gets dropped the following week. 4 qtrs in the magoos is still better that a qtr in the 1's

Bit left field but there you go, my take on it.

WTF more does Thomson have to do?! Really sick of this shit talking about him after he kicks 4 goals for us. He's fine to stay forward.

There is no reason for bower to come back this week. I have images of him tying his shoelace up last year while on the mark and handing collingwood a goal. Cringe worthy. Let him earn it in vfl.

+1 :thumbsu:. Thornton played exceptionally well against the Suns. Not only did he kick the 4 goals but he provided numerous contests drawing a couple of extra defenders in doing so. He needs to stay forward. He was our 2nd best Fwd apart from Lil' Jeffy G.

Amazing might be blowing a bit much wind up you know where dont you think? Both have been servicable, I have Laidler slightly ahead due to his disposal quality.

what's austin up to these days, much?

white looks better offensively than he does defensively. could be a good 3rd up type, and is pretty much in the thornton role at the moment of being outsized while we're also under-manned.

interesting to note the shift in opinion around here of dawes who was regarded as average even after he kicked 4 goals against us.
may as well keep watson in the side now, will learn some footballing lessons on top of any game he plays. henderson back if needs be during the match.

Completely agree with what you say about White but I reckon Laidler has that third tall spot sewn up at the moment.

In: Jamison, Bower, Henderson
Out: White, Watson, Thornton

Thornton was appallingly inept against Richmond and managed to take a football infant to the cleaners last night. That performance should not be considered, considering how dominant the whole performance. He's a liability in the current scheme of things.

Watson has to stay in...surely I'm not the only one that saw his kick-in missile that fell just short of the centre circle? Some of his field kicking (the one blooper aside) was off the ****ing charts...I haven't seen low 50m spot ups like that since Ang was doing his thing.

Jamo for White. Hendo for Thornton. Would like to find a spot for Ellard...may be the man for Swan.

Watson was great on Saturday night, must continue to get games.

Anyone else think White has gone backwards? Maybe he would improve with another key defender in the lineup though..

Bower needs to return through the Bullants.

Jamo is obviously a walk up start so one of White/Watson need to make way for him or else we'll be too tall.

Thornton won't be dropped. If he struggled to have an impact last night he would've been in line for a stint with the Bullants, but you just can't drop a player who kicked 4 goals and provided a real target in the forward half - regardless of the opposition.

White hasn't been great thus far this season, in fact he has struggled. But to be honest, I'd sooner drop Watto than him.

For me, Watto struggled last night. I think he'll be a fantastic player for us, and his kicking is absolutely beautiful, but he was beaten on the night and was our worst on ground IMO.

There's nothing wrong with him getting an early game as a taste of things to come, then being sent back to the Bullants to work on his game and try force his way back into the senior side.

^ Agree entirely. Would be foolish to drop Thornton at the moment. If Henderson doesn't get up we need him in the forward line to at least make a contest and take a defender off Waite.

Can't believe some on here want to make 5 or so changes....we've won every game we've played so far. Winning form is good form.

White for Jamison
Armfield for Tuohey or collins

the 2nd change i base on, I do not think a guy playing as a sub one week who plays very limited game time will be selected the following week unless there were injuries to the guys selected in front of him, they will go back to the VFL for a full game.

I also believe Thornton stays ahead of henderson at this stage to give us another option at either end, for mine if there was to be a surprise omission it could be hampson for a Mid considering the pies do not play 2 traditional ruckman.
