Beside the two new expansion clubs it's Port Adelaide by a mile. Scary thing is, you can't see where the improvements coming from either. Going to be a long decade for Port supporters if things don't change quickly.

I agree but I can see improvement coming soon from Hartlett, Gray and Brad Ebert. Then hopefully later with some of our younger midfielders coming through, headed by Ben Jacobs and Chad Wingard.

GWS by so far it isn't close.

Melbourne's midfield has Jamar, Moloney, Trengove, McKenzie who are all varying degrees of good.

Then we have stacks of kids and part time forwards.

We're not good. But we're better than Port.

Wells in 2011 > Your team's midfield since 2007.

Essendon's issue = Work out Midfield: One-paced, predictable, inconsistent, needs depth and time to establish roles. However, forward and defensive KPP's will be elite in 2 years.

Ok then - currently we have the better midfield based on performances to date. Based on ability - who knows what the future holds. Happy now?

If this was true, you would have made finals. Currently, you have the most over hyped midfield - who knows what the future holds.

Melbourne only have one possible top liner in there in Trengove. Jones/Moloney etc are ageing plodders.

You should try and cover up the stench of Melbourne hate every now and then.

Moloney, a plodder, finished top 10 in the brownlow last year.

Nathan Jones is also about to retire. He turned 24 yesterday so is already well past his prime.

Nothing wrong with mentioning Jack Viney as he is a huge talent that is guaranteed to come to our club.

On topic, at the moment Melbourne have one of the worst midfields after losing Scully.

Moloney, Sylvia, Trengove, Gysberts, Jones, McKenzie.... there are some good players there and some good depth but no great players to lead the team.

Watson> Your Midfield

Lolno. Watson stands out because he's the only good player in that Essenon midfield. Surrounded by kids and hacks. He's like a 14 year old playing in the Under 12's team.

Since the Golden Child has left, Essendon's midfield has been pretty soft. It's good to see Thompson over the pre-season, for the sake of Essendon supporters, has saw this and has addressed by ordering them all to go on a weight program.

Port have the second worst midfield in the competition behind GWS.

So much hype and expectation for our midfielders - yet they always fail when the chips are down.

Watson is better than anybody on your list at the moment

Based on what?

His zero AA's? We had 4 nom's in 2011 and 2 make the team......

His below average kicking skills?

His pace?

His ability to play a full season?
Make a poll and you will see, he doesnt have below average kicking skills either, he makes up for his lack of pace by using his skill and clearing the ball out effectively

A poll proves nothing. It is merely 1 side outvoting the other.

as had been said by other tiger posters its not surprising we suck in those areas with the rucks we have. track watchers have said the maric v graham contests are actually no contest. maric hands down. now whether against opp rucks during the real stuff that makes a difference is yet to be determined.

Excluding the expansion clubs, it would be easy to Port and on output its right on the money, but I can see improvement from Grey, Harlett and Boak in the coming years. Yes they lack support but they have real talent.

I would say going forward that Essendon will be one of the worse. There midfield really looks vulnerable without Watson, and its not like they have the slick outside run to patch up holes either.

How much time does Boak get?

Mufassa has a point HTF...

Pretty hard to argue with any of them.

His kicking has improved, he gets his hands on it but...
