I've been saying more or less the same thing for 2 or 3 years.

- more midfield time for Lecca.
- Hurn needs more help
- we're two or three mids away from being a bloody good team.

Lecras is getting the midfield time. Shepherd and Wellingham are supporting Hurn very well. Duggan, Sheed and Yeo have added beautifully to the midfield. Though it took Simpson longer than I hoped to play Yeo midfield. I'm very happy.
He was playing in the midfield when he broke his hand against Gold Coast last year. :)

Ellis at a recent WC function apparently said Cavka along with Duggan and Nelson are the ones to watch

Can't wait to see Cavka in action. I have the feeling he could become one of the best out of the lot! (maybe not duggan!)
He certainly has the physique to give him the best shot at it ;) #nohomo

Agree. His leg muscles look like he has had 3 pre-seasons.

It feels like our Christmas presents are being given to us over a long period.

We will see Racka back this year.

Barrass will be given a chance.

Waterman will be held over until 2016.

The way Simpson talks up how impressive the youngens have been has me super hard 24/7.

Just on Cavka - does anyone know what year he supposedly won "National Championships" in track and field re: 400m, 800m and 1500m?

I scoured the '12, '13, '14 state and national results archives (at Athsvic and AA) and couldn't see him feature in any thing.

Would be interesting to see his times.

I really thought 2015 was going to be a breakout year for lycett but so far his season has been underwhelming. Was given first crack as the backup ruckman to naitanui but performed poorly and was replaced by Sinclair who has done better than expected and taken the mantle as no2

In a year where there's been a lot of positives, lycetts failure to deliver has been my second biggest disappointment after our early run of season ending injuries

Hopefully he builds a bank of quality games in the coming weeks to put pressure right back on Sinclair for the spot he should already have made his

I think it's likely Sinclair will retain the second ruck mantle for a couple of seasons yet. I think Sinclair is a better "Jack of All Trades" than Lycett and that's what the second ruck calls for in our current structure.

IMO Lycett suffers from Kennedy occupying the FF spot and being relegated to FP. If Kennedy played CHF and Lycett primarily FF, we'd probably get more out of Lycett. That probably wouldn't benefit the team in the short-term though.

Post-Kennedy, I can see a forward structure that utilises our resting ruck more prominently. Something like:

Newman Lycett Cripps
Darling McInnes Lamb

I don't think you can say Lycett has been a huge disappointment. He played 4 games, yes they weren't great but still. Every year he has played he has only put in good games once the season has been rolling along. He's still yung. I expect him to displace Sinclair by years end. Even if he doesn't it might not be a disappointment as Sinclair could just be playing awesome.

Shuey, Will be a top 10 mid in the comp this year. Will average 26+ disposals a game and be very damaging at the same time. I expect Gaff to further improve significantly as well.

West coast to finish somewhere between 3-6 on the ladder.

Not a bad prediction if i must say so myself. Just need the shue to have a dominant last 8 weeks to the season and i reckon i've nailed every part of that.
