Who is the Greatest Lion/Bear Ever.

Just wondering who you all thinks the greatest Lion/Bear and why.It's something to keep the board kicking.

Magic Man Darryl White the indigenous hall of famer and 3 time premiership player.

The man who could just grab the ball out of the air with one hand,Great defender who never gave up and could go forward and kick a bag.When he had the ball everything turned to gold and his still getting 30 possessions a game to this day.

What do you mean Lion/Bear btw?

If you mean best ever player to play for Fitzroy or Brisbane, well the answer is almost certainly Haydn Bunton Sr.

If you mean best ever player since the merger, it's Voss or Black.

Not much up for debate in the thread really.

I disagree with Black/Voss the two that won the flags where Jason Akermanis and Justin Leppitch and you could throw Chris Johnson in the mix.

To many match's from 1997 to 2000 kinda have a collection and he was the one that stood out the most for me so far.

Kevin Murray may be the greatest ever by the stats.

But Darryl White I thought since the merger.

So there the two cant split them cause they played in different decades.

I'd almost say that this is duritz having a bit of fun and trolling his own however I have no doubt that it would be a fair bit more legible and with some more wit if he were to have a crack.

I join the others in disbelief that you think white is better than voss or black. as for the same as bunton don't even get me started.

If we're talking Brisbane Bears and brisbane Lions, has to be #3- Voss was simply an inspiration on and off the field- remember a hit he made in a game against the Pies- at the gabba, in 95 or 96- just cleaned the guys clock- think it was Alan richardson- used to have it on youTube....remember watching a game at Optus against Carlton where Vossy got dinged, left the field with blood coming down nhis face and returned bandaged up and led us to a wn- think that was 98.

Then again, the big play against Burns in the 02 Granny....

I remember going to my first Bears game in 1995, not knowing a hell of a lot about the game, and seeing Voss and knowing there was something special about him.

There are others you could mention- Aker, Leppa...I was a huge supporter of richard Champion myself.....Brissie was blessed in the late 90s and early 00s- could put out one hell of a team from those guys alone.

There was a series of polls I did in Jul 08 on best Lion/Bear since 1980 in each jumper number, which have since been hidden by Weevil (the bastard ) so I can't double check, but for memory I don't think Darryl White was leading the #33 poll.


Now its the offseason it could be a good time for the mods to bump them

I know the immediate reaction is to go for Voss, because he was such a great leader, but I am tending towards Black. Either way, it is a bit of a silly discussion, because they were both absolute champions.

I put the other bloke in as a further point of comparison.
