Exactly right.
MUST have someone taking up the space in front.
We almost need to make sure Roughead is covered too.
Cover the space in the centre and make sure the twin towers have no room to lead.
If Their other forwards want the ball, make them lead wide to get it.
It's all good in theory!

Is it just me or has Ryder been looking a little lazy/out of form lately? If he gets the job and doesnt come up for the occasion, Buddy will spank Ryder!
Going on Fletch's from however instills a little more confidence! Put Mal on UglyHead and leave Ryder floating loose and chopping targets.

i say leave Mal in the twos. 2 slow to play in the top league he is finished. buddy is going to need to be tagged by two and it going to have to be ryder and fletch and maybe nash roaming around so he doesn't run where he would like to.

He killed McPhee last time they played.. I picked Ryder but i don't know if he can handle him either.

Ryder did ok on Buddy last time we played the Hawks...and we got smacked by 10 goals
Obviously this year Buddy has gone to another level, but maybe it will bring the best out of Paddy...who knows
Either way we don't have many options.

it depends if lazycock comes back in. if he's not then paddy goes to the third tall i guess and rucks a bit.
i'd go with fletch for experience though.
although sometimes a big challenge can bring out the best in a player, maybe paddy needs a job such as this!

Paddy has been slightly down on form of late. Nothing to worry about though. A bit of a morale issue if anything.
Paddy on Buddy would be fantastic to watch.
Start Ryder on Franklin for the beginning bounce and if things get ugly afterwards we always have Fletch as backup.
Even though Fletcher would be a better match up for us strategically, the crowd would be coming mainly to see how Paddy does on Franko.

I'm more concerned about the matchup on Roughead. If we shut him down then they'll stop using him as an option then have Buddy double teamed and restrict him to 3-4 goals. We must make sure Roughead gets treated with the same respect as Buddy because he can do as much damage.

I think we need to put our best defender on him, plus I think Fletch has the speed to keep up with him, and the arms to effect the spoils.

I doubt it...
Firstly, Hawthorn don't urgently need him to play against us this week and secondly they wouldn't need the risk of him injuring his hamstring again either.
Unless they take a Brad Ottens approach and just let him play 2 quarters of footy, which I still highly doubt as well.
His injury seemed pretty severe, I don't think they'll take any chances with him this week at most.

If we put our best defender on Lance Franklin, and it works, that just means that Jarred Roughead will kick 6 goals instead.
Damn they've got a good forward line, it's like they now have 2 Jason Dunstall's in the one side.
I guess our Lucas & Lloyd combo will just have to score more goals then they do.
