Who walked out?

Don't reckon he walked as such, probably sat down with the coach and was told in one way or another he's surplus.
Yep, wouldn't be surprised. Or the view that he's read the writing on the wall regarding our emerging backline and doesn't want to play in the midfield.

What (always) pisses me off is the way it's being presented in the media. We are usually made to look like the poor relation... in this case, of Gibson or Hawthorn.

What an absolute dog. He's one of my favourite players so if he is going to walk out on the club like this then we need to put as much shit on him as possible, every game and i mean big time. Booing him, chants about him and all, make him regret walking out on the roos!

can i just say something..

yes it is sad that he has walked out on your club

but anyone who thinks your gonna get pick 9 for his is seriously dreaming!!! probably there 2nd rounder

i hate it how clubs supporters.. yes mine included well and truly overrate there players

Can see this as another ROK or Thornton situation. Hawthorn will give nothing so the deal won't get done.

All we have to do is tell him to go in the PSD. He can then play for Melbourne, Richmond or Freo or North Ballarat for the 2010 season.

Hawthorn will have to play ball to get this one over the line. Can't see him getting there without a good offer.

Let's see how well his AFL career flourishes after a year at North Ballarat.

If he doesn't re-sign by 31/10 (after trade debacle week) he can nominate for the national draft.

But, I would imagine Port would pick him up before Hawthorn with a second round pick, I can't see him getting to Hawthorn without a trade. I can't see Hawks getting him with their second round pick so it doesn't leave them with a lot of options other than to trade.

Gibbo probably wouldn't want to go into the draft, as he can't nominate his price and he would get paid standard rates for 2 years if picked up by another club that wont re-negotiate.

You can nominate what you want in the PSD, but Hawks wouldn't have a lot of cap space, can't see him getting in via the PSD either.

Can I get your valuations on:

Whitecross
Tuck
Kennedy

Thanks.

Whitecross could be anything, only in the system 2 years, taken at 29 in 07 i believe... his disposal is very good, sound decision maker and probably should have played every week this year. rate him as a solid bp/hbf that may develop into someone who can work into midfield rotations.

Tuck is selfless, puts his head over the ball a lot quite like his brother. his disposal is often rushed and hence poor at times. too quick to throw the ball on the boot for my liking...

Kennedy could be anything or nothing. has a big body for a mid like watson, he is not at all quick and does his best work inside like tuck.

if north were after an inside mid i'd go after kennedy over tuck. if you want a play maker or someone who can set you up from the back half id say whitecross

Whitecross: 2nd round draft pick in 2007. Hawks were thrilled when they scooped him up. Wreckless disconcern for his own welfare, has great skills and is progressing nicely.

Tuck: Inconsistant but has potential. He does have questionable foot skills but is still young and attempting to develop confidence and to break into the Hawks' midfield.

Kennedy: Has appeared out of the blue in the 2nd half of this season after seemingly struggling to get into the senior side in the past. Initially and for a long time I thought he wouldn't make it due to his pace but has he changed ppl's mind's (assumingly) during his game time this year.

This thread is hilarious, I love how dramatic everyone is being. "I hope he gets run over" lol.

Gibson has been excellent this year, but we ALL know there isn't a spot for him in our side. Our backline is finally settling and working together well, and He just doesn't belong in our midfield. If he wants to really make something of his career he needs to move to a club that NEEDS him.

I congratulate Gibson on having the guts to make a change, maybe if Harro did it in 2007 (i think) after a great year, he would still be playing for a side today.

He's a 3rd string forward behind buddy and roughie..... you will be losing jones in a year or so... i think he would make a good fit. In the last uncomprimised draft i dont see us giving up pick 9 for anything less than a gun. Gibson isnt this and as many north fans are saying he is your 3rd defender anyway

I know we are going to lose Jones, and who knows whats going on with Edwards, but I think with Warren, Jones, Edwards and Wright, we have enough hit up forwards to pick from. We need someone who's a bit of a freak, in the mould of Cyril or Stevie J. I don't see Dowler having that quality about him. Sure he's probably a solid player going forwards, but pick 9 would be a quality midfielder or forward potentially.

Gibson is a quality defender, Scott Thompson and Grima still have a lot of improvement. They're yet to towel up a key forward. Gibbo has at least done good jobs on Brown, Buddy and Riewoldt this year.

I can't think of any decent mids at the hawks to go with pick 25.

Jebus is right.

Realistically if we got a 2nd rounder and/or a Hawthorn kid out of it, sounds like market value. Uncontracted player who would be fringe next year.

We wont redraft him in the PSD just to hold onto him, I dont think we need him that much.

It just means Hansen, Thompson, Grima will be our tall defenders over the next 10 years and thats fine by me.

i see your points, however i do strongly believe pick 9 will be set aside by hawthorn for a true gun accompanied by a good player/upcoming player. as for gibson i think he is only worth 25, not 25 and a decent mid to go with. he is worth a dowler or kennedy who have potential upside or a whitecross who has great skills but may struggle to get a spot in our side due to many who have simmilar size and attributes.

pick 9 is something you will not get from us unfortunately for north. i know we have done well from trades with you in the past, but it is that the past. i hope both sides work something out that works well for both. i personally would prefer matt maguire as he would come cheaper as a trade and on the salary cap!!! Maguire is more of a KPD than gibson also

At the start of the year I thought Tuck was going to be something special - he fights so hard. Unfortunately I agree with you, hasn't been able to find time and space often. He blazes.

Whitecross is a smart guy. Unproven, so I'd want something in addition.

Kennedy has absolutely blown me away - hadn't heard about him in ages and hearing that his pace was the worry concerns me. He looks the goods based on his 2nd half to the season though. Unproven, would need a pick in addition.

Not much else on the list I can see (within reason). As people say - Dowler and Thorp and the types of forwards we need.

I love how Hawthorn are willing to give him almost a 1 million dollar contract but Hawks fans on here arent willing to admit he is worth Pick 9.

How does that make sense exactly?

nice post, I was hoping to say something similar (although perhaps not as eloquently or effectively) but have only just made to here... still reading all the posts.

Good luck to Josh, I have and will continue to enjoy the way you play footy. Relish the money and the on-field role that we can't offer you. I hope you do well in 2010 (but I hope we do better!) :)
