Oh we won by the rules? Guilty. as charged.

Did you know that 7 of Carltons flags come under the Sir Kenneth Luke country zones vrort, and an eighth during the cap rort phony directorships era? That's half your flags through morally indefensible unsportsmanlike conduct.

You used to be a real club. Respected, liked. Then you got addicted to cheating, and since the League toook the cheating away, you zero flags to show.

Sad.
So , back in the era of open checkbook signings, Carlton reigned supreme amongst most. Pies couldn't compete against us. Good to know

We were ahead of the curve. In an era where anything goes. Pretty simple really. 😂

"Open chequebook"

Zone rorts and salary cap cheating.

Before footy socialism, the Pies ruled unchallenged.

All these pissy rule changes to make the lesser clubs more competitive and you still cheat.

Sad.

Pies cheated in the 2010 and 2023 flags.

You have some brass neck on you talking about cheating after the umpiring in that prelim final last year!

Will Collingwood win by over 100 points ?
Will Carlton lose by over 100 points?

this is what the season has been reduced to in the final H&A game in order to decide which Club 'will be better' in 2024 using the simplest and most transparent measure available - the H&A ladder.

time will tell.

Take it easy.

The Collingwood fans are only on Page 29 of the rules for next years thread.

“Collingwood wins the thread if they finish above Carlton.”

“Carlton wins the threads if they finish above Collingwood, unless…”

Followed by 128 pages of rules.

This.

You've set yourselves up for a deserved finals run with hard work despite pretty poor injury luck.

We could troll and say "great chance for the Blues to win something without cheating" and it might fly in a banter thread, but the bottom line is you're getting what you deserve. You stuck by the coach, who is a tough positive and respected fella, and you picked a fine captain who deserves success after a career of honest fighting.

It's a good effort by the Blues.

Collingwood have never cheated. Cough, cough
There's a cloud over the 1929 prelim, where we unexpectedly lost to Richmond. That was possibly match fixing and throwing a game, and pretty bad if true. It'd not cheating to win but still bad. No excuses.

We cheated the salary cap in a flag year but got a pass because it happened due to a drawn final, was it 1990?

We tried to cheat to get Brett Chalmers and got fined.

We're really bad at cheating.

The sad old crusty Baggers only have memories of the "glory days" when they were gifted a favourable zone and could buy a flag in a suburban comp.

Since it became a professional, they have been left behind.

Like the other battler, Gold Coast, Carlton fans now getting wildly excited when they are a chance to make it to an elimination final in August.

And even in 2024, they still couldn't beat Collingwood.

Their only victories over Collingwood in their last 10 attempts have been two dead rubbers for Collingwood

1. 2021, after Buckley had gone, we had a caretaker coach and were playing out time
2. 2023, when we had locked in top spot, and were playing out time until finals

Whenever both teams are wanting to win, the poor Baggers come up short.

No wonder why they are so excited to cling to a ladder position based on a soft fixture, as they know they aren't as good as the dirty birds...and havent been at any stage in the 21st century.

Did you know that 5 of Collingwood’s flags came under the old Argus finals System, in which because Collingwood finished the H&A on top of the ladder, they were immediately going to play off in the GF. This despite in all 5 of those finals series, Collingwood still played and lost either in the Semi Final (going straight into the GF) or they won the SF but lost the PF (still going straight into the GF).

Five flags. Not one or two. FIVE!!!

😂
So what.

You can only play under the finals system of the time.

Should we disregard Brisbane's 2nd flag in their 3peat, because Collingwood beat them in a Qualifying Final?

Hawthorn's 3rd flag in their 3peat?

Richmond's 2020 flag?

No.

Because they at least won finals before the GF.

All in good fun anyway.

It's true the pre-MacIntyre system had whiskers on it, posotively encouraged the top side to throw a final because they could go again the next week.

The 1929 one is the most suspect. Won 18 games h&a, played Richmond several times fir easy wins, then we mysteriously lose and then wallop them the next week.

The Great Depression had kicked off in the US and Australia was starting to feel the pinch, I guess it's understandable if players organised to rob the bookies but it's still wrong.

If Collingwood pull off the miracle and make the finals but lose first week, Carlton will still have 1 more win for the season

Would Carlton still be considered 'better' in that scenario?

I guess most years in those years would have had similar stories attached to them. To be a fly on the wall back then. Fascinating stuff really.

The whole point of the H+A season is to make finals and put yourself in the best position to win a premiership. So if Pies were to make finals and Carlton missed out it doesn't matter what the Pies do in finals - they would be the better team.

So if neither team make finals, Collingwood would be considered the better team as a result of their superior head to head record?

Our fanbase will be too busy crying to care.

Can't believe the Dirtys are in mexicola, gifted 2 wins over my crap team , yet still languish behind them on points. Embarrassing.
Hows the weather down there ?
