Who will be delisted?

Trade some half-decent players in then, there are plenty on the market. If we could get Sam Jacobs and Justin Sherman in (one for the Krakouer pick and one for a Motlop pick? Or just a regular second rounder), I'd be reasonably happy with that.

You still have to trade a player. We are talking about replacing delistings, which are over and above trades.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe he's been in the SANFL reserves all year and not even shown much at that level. Plus from what I've heard about him (admittedly haven't seen him) he doesn't sound like someone who has the ability to make it as a quality AFL player. I'd rather take a punt on a Barlow or Howlett type from a state league.

From what I have heard about him I believe:

He is yet to have a full preseason (due to school commitments etc.)
He has highly regarded skills and played well in the U18's.
Is from Southern Broken Hill.
Was touted in Broken Hill as being the better player of himself and Taylor Walker.
Only been on our list for one year now (previously was just a scholarship player)
He is also only 19 years. (Second youngest player on our list)

There's no difference between replacing delisted players and traded players. You just replace however many players you lost every year. If we traded a draft pick for Jacobs/Sherman, then that's one less player we have to replace.

We have to be able to replace with better not the same sort of rubbish.
To be honest we should try and target players that do play some AFL for the team there with now, not some hack that cant make there 22 .
If there not good enough to make there side then there not good enough to be drafted
We have to start drafting smarter.

Yeah id like to keep him on the list
All first yr players dont have a full preaseason since they are drafted in late november lol.
Taylor Walker an absolute gun lol.
Johns must be pretty awesome

Johns deserves another year at least with a full pre season to see what he can do. Weve nurtured him for a couple of years, would be silly to delist him after 1 season on our rookie list.

As for being better than Walker....yeah, nah.

My point was that if you trade players you still have to replace the same number of delisted players. You can't trade a delisted player. If we delist 10 and trade 1 we still have to get 10 players out of the drafts.

We don't need to name any delistings until October 31. There's plenty of time.

EDIT: List submission may be on the 29th this year. In any case, there's plenty of time!

SOUTH Broken Hill thankyou very much.

are we going to delist anyone?
i thought we would have some delistings by now... its been 4 weeks since the end of our season
The season ends with the GF this weekend and then there is almost a month before the first round of delistings has to be finalised before the draft.

Freo, West Coast, Adelaide, North and Brisbane have all announced at least some of their delistings.
If you take out retirements and rookies that have been cut it hardly amounts to "most" clubs who's season has finished. :)

2010 Retirements and Delistings

Although according to that list Collingwood have delisted Shane O’Bree and Sean Rusling rather than that duo retire.

Rob Snowdon used to announce delistings at the best and fairest. :)

OUCH!

TBH I would prefer we not announce any unforced delistings until at least after trade week.

Freo have decided to do something similar this year (link)

With the GC issue, I think that most clubs will delay delistings to after the trade period just to be sure about not letting players go prematurely.

Speaking of delistings, I noticed that WCE have delisted Tony Notte - a tall, skinny forward who was strongly linked to us at one stage. Dodged a bullet there.

It's the same every year. The club thinks 'THIS' is the year someone will offer us picks 1 & 5 for dregs we are going to delist, so we'll hold off, whilst other clubs respect their fans. Heck, we have so many supporters, removing some list dead wood from the Choco era as soon as possible, before we send out membership renewals, so fans are more looking forward to a clean page, can't be at all something we'd bother considering

Bunch of amateur's in this regard every year. We know our fringe players are hacks, other clubs know, all the delay does every year is annoy supporters just when the club needs their good will at renewal decision time. Off-field geniuses at work yet again.

did you mean

"linked to us at one stage BECAUSE he was a tall skinny forward" ?
