If nothing else the rumour has created some buttdevastation on the Hawks board.
"TALLY HO! TO THE HAWKS BOARD....!"

So Liam Pickering who is Clarkson's manager has said he will be at Hawthorn next year. Although that's pretty much the expected response.
I expect he will be. Even if he wanted to come the Hawks won't make it easy.

Heard 2 different people at work tonight discussing the Clarkson to Eagles rumour. Surely its BS, wouldn't Clarko have more important things on his mind than defecting clubs? Getting interesting though would be a greater coup than lyon to Freo was!

4>5 year contract on big $$$ v 1 year remaining at the Hawks.

Sure he would say wait until we've finished this year and we can talk and it also puts him in a very good bargaining position with the Hawks as well.

When one of the most wealthy and successful clubs wants you to coach them you don't brush it off without at least considering it.

I expect he will be.

I'm not that convinced. One year left on his contract and no guarantees of an extension, less so if Hawks slide (which I doubt but they did after they last won the GF) on the flip-side a potential 5 years deal with bigger money from us. Pretty good job security that.

I think more chance it could happen if the Hawks win.

If not Clarkson then hopefully Simpson.

You would think if the hawks won then either clarkson or Simpson would leave.

n response to comments made on Fox Footy last night, Hawthorn Senior Coach Alastair Clarkson would like to make the following statement:
“Those who know me well would understand that my values would never have me walk away from a commitment to our Club.
“My family and I have had a great journey with this Club and we are optimistic that the coming years are going to be an exciting time for Hawthorn Football Club.”

Where does this quote come from Chris_6678?

Clarkson has one year left on his contract. He is asking for a 3 year extension. Hawthorn only want to give him two, this is the sticking point.

Clarkson apparently approached Hawthorn about six weeks back to ask for the extension. This is where it sits right now.

We have a chance to possibly snare him however i would say the odds are still stacked against us.

So much depends on this Saturday, if they lose he won't be getting the contract he wants.

Jon Ralph called it "a rolled gold promise" on Twitter. Hah anything but. His statement actually makes me think this rumour could be true. Would only have been less convincing if he had of channeled Roos & given us the "at this time" or "the way I am feeling now"

Still, don't want it coming out early and souring any talks if they are happening

Exactly my thoughts. What do they expect him to say 72 hours out from the GF..."I have no comment on the matter"

Welcome to West Coast Alastair :thumbsu: :p

Isn't that the almost identical situation that Ross Lyon went through with the Saints last year?
