Who's afraid of Rupert Murdoch? The end of an era.

Had a friend visit yesterday and after she left had forgotten her paper (The Sun). I can't remember that last time I purchased but decided to have a flick through. First 16 pages was about Paris, although one was a full page add for Woolworths. Then a double page spread about the pros-cons of the royal family (didn't really see too many cons of any concern), then of course a full page by Bolt (didn't read as could have guessed what he was saying).
So almost 20 pages in and nothing new or that hasn't either been on TV or other news reports.
End is def, near for Murdoch, how much more money can the organisation lose? Not sure that he produces genuine newspapers, more likely opinion papers.

Then try. Why has Murdoch insisted on western intervention in the ME but know wants others to get involved based on their religion?

Change is most effectively driven by pressure from within the community. The only people who can truly solve the the Islamic extremsists issues are Muslims.

He's hit the nail on the head with his recent tweet. What Murdoch has said in the past is irrelevant.

What's the current status on the mans health?

Any known illnesses/conditions/past operations that may point to a light at the end of this very outstretched tunnel?

Agree with first bit. Disagree with second and third.

What Murdoch said was dumb. He says all Muslims are 'responsible'. That suggests responsible for the deaths, injuries and terrors in Paris. Dumb, dumb, dumb. And offensive.

He seems increasingly senile, but is still smart enough to know it would be offensive. His brand of politics works when people are divided, and given the relatively unified reaction against the Paris attacks, he decided to make a divisive comment. 'Wedge politics'. Maybe he hoped more people would've referred to the magazine's offensiveness and he could've made that the story. Or maybe he is just an old man who shouldn't have been given access to his own Twitter account. And of course things Murdoch has said in the past are relevant. Why wouldn't they be? Has he changed tack from the past (except with his on-again-off-again belief in Climate Change)?

Also, I'm pretty sure he agreed with Howard about that not apologising to Aborigines because some Australians didn't directly act against them... Would you like being held responsible for under-the-table payments at Carlton and their subsequent first wooden spoon? Or for missing the finals and any fights that break out between Carlton supporters? And if you have Carlton supporting kids - they're responsible too. As for Utah Jazz - that makes you responsible for Mitt Romney. Good luck getting him to admit that 47% of Americans aren't slackers dependent on govt hand-outs.

Slowly becoming irrelevant.
"He has been variously described as the man who put the “twit” in Twitter and as a “geriatric Whack-A-Mole character” who pops up to sprout a crazy view before disappearing again while we all talk about it."
However...
"The News Corp empire has been silent on the latest contribution from the boss. While his infamous “Moslem” tweet continues to be reported on around the world, we haven’t spotted a single mention in any News Corp outlets. No Murdoch loyalist has leapt to his defence either."

Did enjoy the irony of Chris Kenny's strident defense of satire and free speech in light of his legal action against the Chaser lads.
Do as I say not as I do.
Irony or hypocrisy?

What Ratts of Tobruk said. Agree that Change is most effectively driven by pressure from within a community.

And what Murdoch has said in the past is very relevant IMO. When a newspaper owner and therefore and influential person internationally makes statements constantly they have to suffer as much consequences of their hypocrisy as he would demand of politicians and anyone else that he sets his sights.

As to the present tweet how about he take the issues up with the Saudi's as well. They own a fairly large chunk of his company and with that he could also discuss the mediaeval punishment handed out to a Saudi blogger recently.

Yeah lucky for those Chaser lads he was not an extremist fundamentalist and that he could use the full force of the law against satire.

According to Fox News, Birmingham is a no go area for non Muslims.

Very hard for him, but I think he is trying to back-track.
“Certainly did not mean all Muslims responsible for Paris attack. But Muslim community must debate and confront extremism,” Murdoch said in a tweet that followed a barrage of criticisms of a comment made last week."
Criticism was led by Los Angeles-based comic Aziz Ansari, who wrote, “Are you responsible for the evil shit all Christians do or just the insane amount of evil you yourself contribute to?”
Ansari also asked Murdoch, “can we get a step by step guide? How can my 60 year old parents in NC help destroy terrorist groups?”

Poor old Rup, should really stay off Twitter, leave it to others.
