I got to the part where he said:

“If he takes over - can you imagine a world without the Murdoch media."

The piano intro chords of John Lennon's 'Imagine' started playing in my head and I began to imagine a world without Murdoch media. How glorious is would be.

Imagine.......

No Fox news lying to people, encouraging gun violence, spreading division, dumbing down the US population, propagating misinformation about Covid etc. The yanks would might even have a healthcare system if it wasn't for Fox spreading scare stories about Nanna death camps.
No jobs for Bolt, Kenny etc. at Skynews, that alone would be a worthwhile.
No Australian newspaper telling porkers about climate change and acting as total fan bois supporting for the libs. The libs might even have stayed a party of the centre if it wasn't for Murdoch.
No Trump presidencies.
Better governance in the Anglosphere countries infected by Murdoch. .
A massive worldwide decrease in misinformation and stupidity.
The list goes on.

So, Andrew Bolt, I can imagine a world without Murdoch Media and it would be a vastly better world.

It's not Murdoch, it's the system Murdoch is exploiting. And now that he's shown how to do it, it's what everyone is trying to do. When Fox eventually goes by the wayside, it will be replaced, there are many alternatives waiting in the wings.

Commercial media makes money by aligning its viewers views with its sponsors views. That way they get more sponsors, and more viewers, and then more sponsors......

No Robbo?

No Robbo?
Even better.
The more I think about it, the world becomes better and better sans Murdoch media.

One of my pet hates is the hyprocrisy of these folks in the Murdoch media when they start raving on about elites, when they themselves are in the elite with their million dollar salaries, large public platforms to voice their views and the resources of a large media empire behind them.

Yes, someone else will come along. BUT Murdoch was the first, the most effective and the most destructive. He's loves and exploits the power it gives him.

One of my pet hates is the guys like Bolt or Price who claim that as a older white male they are being silenced as they write this in their own article in a newspaper or discuss on their own tv show or radio show.

The greatest trick the elites ever played was convincing the world they are not elites...

News Corp and Telstra have agreed to sell Foxtel to giant British sports streaming platform DAZN in a deal that values the pay television broadcaster at $3.4 billion and will reshape the local media industry in a deal that is expected to be finalised next year.

After it is complete, News Corp will own 6 per cent of DAZN and have a seat on its board. Telstra is also selling its 35 per cent interest in Foxtel and take a stake of about 3 per cent in DAZN.

This is the AFR take on the impact of the deal for the local media industry:

The acquisition by DAZN is indicative of how media companies are thinking about the future. Most local media companies are under significant cost pressure and face competition from rich offshore companies with deep pockets to invest in the world’s best TV programs, films, and video platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

These companies are still heavily reliant on advertisers as a main source of revenue and live sports is one of the few ways to still reach the large number of viewers that brands desire. Sports – particularly niche sports – are also considered valuable enough to pay for.

In acquiring Foxtel, DAZN has secured a range of multimillion-dollar content deals in the Australian market. The AFL and cricket broadcast rights are tied up with Foxtel until the end of the decade, giving DAZN certainty of subscribers for the foreseeable future.

With the Foxtel sale now a done deal and the ongoing turmoil in the Murdoch family with regards to the future directions of their other media assets, I expect big changes in the print and online components of Murdoch's 'news' focussed Australian media assets over coming years.

DAZNs bread and butter is sports so I imagine this is primarily for Kayo. They may also keep Binge if it can continue to have a decent presence in the streaming market. Politically the most fascinating thing is what becomes of Sky News. Is that part of the sale too? If so, I can't imagine DAZN have the same interest in running it at a loss to influence Australian politics.

Hopefully they fix the multitude of problems with Kayo.

and what a joyous day that would be.

“Lachlan woke up on Saturday to the news that his three siblings are likely to decide his fate after their father dies, and probably will give him the boot.”

Cause for cautious optimism.
