C. Cornes = C. Judd's armpit.

Except when you compare them head to head in games v each other:

Code:

West Coast: Kerr, Judd, Cousins, Cox, Glass, Embley

Port Adelaide: C. Cornes, S. Burgoyne, W. Tredrea, B. Lade, D. Pearce

C. Cornes = C. Judd......No i'm not saying they're equal, but I think Cornes' versatility makes up for the difference.

S. Burgoyne = D. Kerr

B. Lade = D. Cox

W. Tredrea > D. Glass

B. Cousins > P. Burgoyne

A. Embley > D. Pearce

So WCE win that one, but it's pretty close.

WCE win that easy

Kerr is a better footballer and a lot more consistant than S Burgoyne.
As good as Lade is he is no Dean Cox.

This is my opinion so some teams would probably dissagree with my top 6's so please change them is its nessacery:

Adelaide:Mcleod, goodwin, Edwards, Roo, Thompson, Rutten 8/10

Brisbane:Brown, Black, Lappin, Power, Adcock, Charman 7.5/10

Carlton:Fevola, Waite, Stevens, Fisher, Simpson, Murphy 6/10

Collingwood: Cloke, Fraser, Clement, Shaw, Pendelbury, Rocca 7.5/10

Essendon: Lloyd, Hird, Lucus, Fletcher, Stanton, Watson 7/10

Fremantle: Pavlich, J.Carr, Haselby, Sandilands, Johnson, Bell 8.5/10

Geelong: Ablett, Bartel, Scarlett, Milburn, Ling, Mooney 9/10

Hawthorn: Franklin, Mitchell, Hodge, Crawford, Croad, Brown 8/10

Kangaroos: Harvey, Wells, Thompson, Grant, Petrie, Harris 7/10

Melbourne: Bruce, Green, White, Neitz, Rivers, Mclean 6/10

Port Adelaide: Cornes x2, Burgoyne x2, Lade, Pearce 8.5/10

Richmond: Foley, Richardson, Bowden, Brown, Deledio, Simmonds 7.5/10

St Kilda: Dal Santo, Montagna, Rievoldt, kosi, Mcguire, Hayes/Ball 8.5/10

Sydney: Kirk, O'Keefe, Everitt, Hall, Goodes, Kennelly 9/10

West Coast: Kerr, Judd, Cousins, Cox, Glass, Embley 9/10

Western Bulldogs: Johnson, west, Gilbee, Cooney, Akermanis, Cross 8.5/10

I've obviously probably left some out but looking at that i'd say west coast & st kilda has the best top 6 going around, carltons top 6 is very ordinary & essendons is very old, Collingwoods isn't the best but hard to pick because there so even & Hawthorns is probably the youngest.
That's how i'd rate them anyway, port adelaides is very good as is eagles, bulldogs, sydney and the cats. Fremantle have serious talent as well.

Geelong then WC for mine.

Ablett > Judd
Bartel > Kerr
Chapman > Cousins
Scarlett = Glass
Mooney > Embley
Ottens < Cox

You can only base it on this year, on that basis I think that is accurate.

Past = WC
Future = Who no's?
ridiculous comments

Judd = ablett (not this year so if that't the criteria i will change)
Bartell = Kerr (kerr is far more damaging but bartel is way more consistent)
Cousins >>>>>> Chapman (cousins hasn't been challenged yet but he is a champion and chapman is definitely not better)
Scarlett = Glass (both great fullbacks, both win 1 on 1 which i admire)
Mooney > Scarlett (embley is very inconsistent but we all know what he can do)
Cox > ottens (goes without saying.

Sorry, I thought we were talking about the better player. Not the prettiest stats.

No we were talking about Chad not being fit to be Judds armpit. I've just shown that in games they have played against each other that Chad is probably better than just an armpit.

I'd also suggest chads had a better 2007.

I didn't say Chad isn't fit to be Judd's armpit. It's line ball.

WCE win that easy

Kerr is a better footballer and a lot more consistant than S Burgoyne.
As good as Lade is he is no Dean Cox.

Besides all the hype that Cox gets, Lade is the better ruckman. He has more hitouts to advantage, kicks more goals, and last year, when Cox and Lade both had brilliant years, it was Lade that got AA honours over Cox (Cox was on the interchange bench)

I think arguments can be mounted for both players being better than the other, and both arguments would be valid. So hence they are equal, or close enough to equal.

Daniel Kerr is my favourite footballer outside of Port Adelaide, and I follow him very closely. He is a superstar, and I love the guy, but so is Shaun Burgoyne. kerr is brilliant at some things, and Burgoyne is brilliant at other. One may be better than the other, but again, imo its very close.

Cornes is just as valuable a player as Judd is. Judd, whilst being an absolute star, is nowhere near as versatile as Chad, and whilst Chad isn't as flashy by running out of the packs etc. he is still a bloody damn good footballer. Infact, I'd rather keep Chad Cornes in my side, than swap him for Judd.

West Coast: Kerr, Judd, Cousins, Cox, Glass, Embley

Port Adelaide: C. Cornes, S. Burgoyne, W. Tredrea, B. Lade, D. Pearce

C. Cornes <<<<<<<<<<<C. Judd......Maybe scrapes into the top 10 players if he is on song and has a great year Vs Best in the league. not a lot of contest.

S. Burgoyne = D. Kerr Happy to agree there is a truck load of bias here, as i think kerr is better, but i'll leave it as an =

B. Lade <<< D. Cox Best ruck in the business. Runs harder and has more skills. When the ball hits the ground is another midfielder. Best ruckman in the comp.

W. Tredrea <<< D. Glass Over the last 8 years, maybe, last 2 seasons, Tredrea doesn't touch glass. Glass is top 3 defender in the league. ( saying that just so we dont get the old rutten/glass/scarlett debate) Easilly better than tredrea

B. Cousins >>>>>>>> P. Burgoyne hahahahahahah No Contest

A. Embley = D. Pearce Embley looses marks because he gets injured a little bit. When on song, he is magic though. ( Grand final anyone?? )

So WCE win that one by quite a bit
Edited for Grossly inaccurate comments.

"Melbourne: Bruce, Green, White, Neitz, Rivers, Mclean"

James McDonald is easily top 6 at Melbourne - was All Australian last year, won the club B&F and will probably win it again this year. Neitz is important to team structure but not in the top 6 any more.

C. Cornes <<<<<<<<<<<C. Judd......Maybe scrapes into the top 10 players if he is on song and has a great year Vs Best in the league. not a lot of contest.
Lets see how their seasons are rated by the various awards at years end.

S. Burgoyne = D. Kerr Happy to agree there is a truck load of bias here, as i think kerr is better, but i'll leave it as an =
I thnk Kerrs still better, Shaun needs to play to potential more often to surpass.

B. Lade <<< D. Cox Best ruck in the business. Runs harder and has more skills. When the ball hits the ground is another midfielder. Best ruckman in the comp.
The same argument applied last year, and Lade was convincingly given AA honours & brownlow votes. Best ruck smarts in the game. Cox has more mobility however as you say.

W. Tredrea <<< D. Glass Over the last 8 years, maybe, last 2 seasons, Tredrea doesn't touch glass. Glass is top 3 defender in the league. ( saying that just so we dont get the old rutten/glass/scarlett debate) Easilly better than tredrea
Glass<<<Westhoff :) :)

B. Cousins >>>>>>>> P. Burgoyne hahahahahahah No Contest
Yep - until he gets the boot for not meeting the undertaking he set down.

A. Embley = D. Pearce Embley looses marks because he gets injured a little bit. When on song, he is magic though. ( Grand final anyone?? )
Hard to judge them because they are both such spectacular players at times, I'd have Pearce in front, but with the extra size Embley certainly is a rarer commodity.

LOL

I would say WCE top 6 in their starting 22 >>>>>> Ports top 6 in their start 22.

Kerr > burgoyne
Judd > cornes
Cox>lade
Glass = tredrea

where port have some advantage is Ports list seems to have a more even contribution of talent compared to list as port have been competitive with numerous injuries and WCE tail off missing 4 or 5 of their better players.

i think you are kidding yourself if you think WCE best six in form are not the best six on teh competition.

however the reason teams beat WCE including sydney, is that WCE talent drops off after about about player 14 or 15 quite dramatically.

Sydney and port have 'stars' but when the are in form and playing well, their player 22 isn't that much worse than their player 6 or 7.

hahaha Maguire... NOT

Saints

1. Hayes
2. Riewoldt
3. Harvey
4. Sam Fisher
5. Baker
6. Dal Santo
7. Ball
8. Gehrig
9. Hudghton
10. Koschitzke

Got carried away and did top 10

:)

Cox is a better ruckman. No contest.

If Cox wasn't injured last year he would have made AA Ruck.

This year Cox has averaged way more possessions, more shots at goal, more hitouts, more marks, more tackles and gives away less frees.

Even last year (in clearly Lade's best year ever) Cox averaged more hitouts and disposals. And just 0.1 goals less.

Difficult and subjective but IMO not a bad list.

Just on Collingwood, FWIW, if not for Scott Burns Collingwood wouldn't be the genuine top 4 contender they are so he has to be in the top 6. Rocca is still a vital ingredient but on this years form he hasn't been a top 6 player. Ditto Didak. Lockyer has definitely been in Collingwood's top 6 this year and might well win the Copeland but he isn't the top 6 best players IMO. Depends how you want to frame the top 6. What is most relevant right now is the club's current top 6 B&F standings if you want to make the right comparison in terms of assessing 2007 credentials.

In that case I'd say Collingwood's would be:
Lockyer, Cloke, Burns, H. Shaw, Swan and toss up a few for the other spot.
