Re Mal Holmes - Collingwood came away from the CEO's conference horrified at how out of touch our man was with the game and the kpi's that we were using to measure our performance, which is ironic given the Vero ads and mantra. Gary Pert was dumbfounded, this was the sentiment expressed by Eddie McGuire on 360 a few nights later.

It's hard to believe that Micky Conlan was passed over for him given the respective backgrounds.

Did anybody see the comments from Gerrard Healy on "On the Couch", he apparently said to Roos "I don't know why you are going back to coaching.."
Yes I did and thought exactly the same thing!! It seemed like a slip of the toungue between two mates who had discussed this in great detail but forgot it was not public knowledge. I meant to post on it myself, so thanks for bringing it up as I found it more than interesting. There didn't seem to be any real reaction from Roos either as if the magnitude of the slip was lost on him also.

It seems that if Roos raises an eyebrow and scratches his nose it is heavily scrutinised and leads to definitive statements.

It's Mayes on draft day all over again...

It will be interesting to see what kind of pull Leigh Matthews has being on the coach selection panel will have in attracting Roos to the job. I would say quite a bit. The issue here would be if they sign Roos then Angus may be seen as vindicated by the other board members that are not running a ticket against Angus.

Has the club given any indication of when they would expect to announce the coach?

Was at Chermside today to have Leigh's autobiography signed by him.

I enquired as to when the panel were getting together, the scripted reply was "it will be the best available", when I wished him well over the next couple of weeks he replied "it will be more like a couple of months", I have a feeling he was referring to the board in the latter, but I never mentioned the board at all.

Anyone think there's any chance we'll see Longer or Polec re-sign before we have a coach in place?
Not sure I would sign without knowing who the coach is or what's happening with the board. By the same token, not sure I would be shooting through without knowing either. Both issues need sorting ASAP and I would have thought the board issue would be easier to settle and be worthwhile before selecting a coach.

I am making an interesting tip who will coach you guys next year.

If I'm right, it makes sense why they let go of Michael Voss, and yet haven't named a replacement. I think it is because the replacement is still coaching and can't be signed until his team's season ends this weekend.

My tip is the Brisbane lions coach for 2014 is:- (Drumroll)

JOHN WORSFOLD!!!!

Worsfold seems finished at WCE. He is a premiership coach, and probably needs a fresh start.

Boooo!!!!!

Quote from our website from Angus J, On Paul Roos, he contacted me midway through last week and informed me that, due to family reasons, he would be unable to relocate to Brisbane and was therefore ruled out as a candidate.

Seems done and dusted on Roo's, so who's second best? Has to be Eade doesn't it.

So Roos is officially out of the running :(.....this off season is make or break time for our club;
  • Choice of coach
  • Choice of board and/or members
  • Young player retention
Buckle up for a nerve racking few months

Who would have thought that all the times Paul Roos said "no" that he actually meant "no".

Thank god we can move on from the hopeium laced conspiracy theories now.

But one question remains: How was there a conversation about coaching; why was there dialogue at all???

Brisbane, from memory, has not moved geographical location in the last few months, it's always been interstate from Sydney

I call BULLSHIT on Angus (either on the "conversations" he said he's had or the response from Roos)
