Can you fill me in on how Tudor is becoming more likely? I haven't seen or heard anything on it other than on this page.

Sorry Bert, I am only looking at the betting fluctations & have no inside information as to where the 'process' is at. No doubt there is a shortlist that has been put together, but depending who is on it & there current committments (involved in clubs commencing a finals campaign) not sure that any interview process would have even commenced as yet.

While on Tudor he is an unassuming type - think McCartney at the Dogs, who will be far more coach than than a media player.

Not sure why a large chunk of this thread is wasted on Neil Craig.
He is 16th in the betting at $21.00 (a rank outsider), the constant bagging gets a bit monotonous.

Leigh Tudor & Scott Burns equal favourites at $7.00 - Tudor has firmed dramatically in the last few hours.

Because there's been a lot of speculation around bringing in a coach who's been there, done that (to some degree).

That list has been narrowing:
  • Roos
  • Eade
  • Ayres
  • Craig

leigh Tudor won't be a bad choice , he's been in the coach's box for a while now
I think his just missed out a couple of times in the passed
Im happy for the club to get someone like this , but we must get the the rite team of assistances around him

Perhaps those that believe this 'speculation' should be partaking in a punt then:
Ayres $34.00
Craig $17.00

I am not so sure a board consisting of Lethal would be so narrow minded, but each to their own.

I haven't seen any discussion but you do wonder now whether the experienced head, with a senior understudy is still the preferred option. Thoughts/Stories appear to have changed since the Initial announcement & now with Lethals involvement I do wonder which direction this will now head.

"We are looking for a senior coach that embraces the concept of succession, passing on his experience and wisdom and developing the senior assistant coach to be our next senior coach," [Johnson] said.

"We believe in the succession model."

I did miss Choco in the list.

Cool strawman. Can I use that to scare some crows off?

Angus also originally stated that we would have had a senior coach announced by now. The goalposts have constantly changed since the Voss announcement, & those quotes are 2 weeks old.

If Roos was available - do people believe that the whole succession plan idea would have been adhered too? Highly unlikely.

If the right senior coach isn't available, and as you have suggested numbers are dwindling then I believe other options will be explored. The media reports & money appear to support this thought.

Chocco $12.00

I did see a quote in the paper recently, might have been from Lethal, can't remember, but was to the effect of coaches with no prior senior coaching experience won't be ignored. I honestly think we were keen on Roos or Eade, having missed those 2, it's now plan B, which is see what is left, search through the rated assistant coaches and grab the next best option, whether that's a senior coach or not doesn't matter.

I think interviews are meant to be happening this week, so I'm hoping we get some info about likely cannidates later in the week, and who has interviewed well. Depending on who our choice is, we might not announce the signing straight away, especially if they are actively coaching at another club still alive in finals.

Hopefully they are getting further apart - we need all the help we can get to kick a goal! :(

Heard today (might be pulling my leg?) that Mrs Roos was accepting of a move to Brisbane, but that due to a serious illness of a close family member in Melbourne meant it was the only real option....the squillion $ are a bonus!

Is it time for another poll? I voted for Roos orgininally, but now either Harvey or Worsfold would suffice!

Worsfold will sign again for Eagles.
Be nice to get back the trio of Leppiitsch, Lappin and Power although I think seeing they played with some of the players like Voss might be better to go elsewhere.
So Tudor or Simpson. Flip a coin both have good and bad points.

Funny that Craig was the one who replaced Ayres (who was never liked in Adelaide) after being his assistant. Ayres is in the VFL if I'm not mistaken, and I am certain he will never get another head coaching gig in the AFL. The same should be said of Craig who should really focus on just being a fitness coach (he was Director of Sports Performance at Melbourne) as sports science is really his strength.

Harvs seems reluctant to be the Boss man, although I would love him to take the job.

So I'm now leaning towards offering him the "mentor" role (say 2 years) with a high quality Assistant like Simpson, Tudor or Leppitsch learning the ropes

If Harvey is uncomfortable with the media role, let him stay in the background.

Whatever happens, my gut feeling is that we should be doing everything possible to keep Harvey involved at the club,

Yeah I'm for that. Get someone like Tudor in and give him Harvey to help him out for 2 years. Like Bomber Thompson and James Hird in 2011. Harvey gets to do little media stuff.

Yeah, I don't think it's a coincidence that our results have improved since he joined the club.

Unfortunately it's a long way from Brisbane to Perth. I can't imagine what it'd be like to be a 4+ hour flight from your family.

Agree Luthor, Harvey should be kept on as coaching advisor.

If we are discussing potential suitors for the coaching gig what about Mathew Knights or Blake Caracella?

Knights coached the Geelong reserves to the VFL premiership in 2012 and the team is currently looking good to make it back to back in 2013. Plus he obviously has experience at the highest level when he coached the bombers

Blake Caracella was an assistant coach at the pies between 2007 and 2009 under MM and is currently an assistant coach at Geelong and has been there since 2010

Maybe West Coast and us will swap coaches.

I've been thinking about west coast and their poor end to the season. Is there any chance that the players aren't playing for worsfold because they know he may not be there next year? And possibly our coach in 2014?

If Leppa is able to coach the mentality he had as a player, he would be a hell of a coach, we could expect a bloody tough and aggressive team!

Woosha sounds like he would prefer to stay out West but I think Harvs is not saying he wants the job publically because of scars from the Freo situation (as stated by a previous poster).

Lionontheline - who knows but Woosha appears keen to stay as he has been talking about giving a presentation to the board, having a plan for the future and being confident in it. But then again if we made an approach it could give the WCE board a way to get rid of a club legend without having to go through the mess we did.

I think we should be targeting Worsfold.

It is 50:50 whether he will keep his job at the Eagles now. Surely we should be laying the ground work in case he doesn't get a contract extension.

Not that we should stop looking at other candidates. However, I wouldn't want Craig or Williams to be our senior coach, but I wouldn't mind them having a senior role in our footy department.

I wonder how much money we have to spend on a coach anyway? Melbourne offering Roos $1.5m a year must be at least twice as much as we can offer anyone (not that it would matter for an inexperienced coach).
