The issue with analysing the betting on a novelty market like this is that (a) there isn't a lot of money in the market and (b) the bookies won't take a lot of risk which means that the slightest bit of news will see them change the odds dramatically. Tudor and Harvey shortening would probably be due to the effects of Hammo's article flowing through (Tudor) and our fairly impressive performance on Saturday (Harvey).

People always use the novelty market get-out POBT, I am a little sceptical of it.

Having spent many years on tracks, knowing numerous bookies & having worked in the field - money like in any other world is king. Even in novelty markets - that said shortening a point or two means little ie. its when their is a dramatic shortening that the 'word' tends to be out.

Do people really bet on who will get appointed as a coach?

Maximum winnings are $500 so you can't make huge money on it. As such, the odds are likely to change comsiderably even after small bets.

Edit: oh, didn't see POBT's post that basically said the same thing.

Roos was as short as $1.40 for us at one stage.

How can they have a favourite before any interviews?? Tudor might spud it up in the interview process.

Thats the whole idea of punting - risk v return.
If they are in the Interview process they are down to say 1 of 4 - 25% chance at $6.00 thats reasonable odds. At those odds you don't have to back one option exclusively to make money.

TBD - can be dependent on the bookmaker & the client of the bookmaker. The limits to the everyday punter v those of higher value can be different - as per many service industries.

If we can keep Harvey on as that mentor coach role, we will be fine bringing in a Simpson or a Tudor. If Harvey goes we will probably need to look at a Craig or Williams to do that role. Will be interesting to see if we add any more assistant coaches to our coaching staff.

I am absolutely terrified that our next coach is going to be unable to tap into the fighting spirit that Voss has bred into this team... by far our biggest asset.

If we get Mumbles Craig coming in and turning these boys into a bunch of passionless robots, god help us.

Our next coach has to be able to keep stoking the fire.

Its my biggest fear too TBD... I think it's highly undervalued the us against them mentality that a Queenslander can invest knowing the difficulties up here. It almost seige mentality... And he knew how to use it as well as create a belief that the boys could defy the media and the experts.

How often do we hear interstate players say how different it is up here after they move... What and how long will it take for a coach to adjust?

Walls saying on SEN they should go back to Voss although he probably not want it.
Just a mess I was 50-50 if voss get another go although its been handled so badly no one wants the job.

If the board changes, although still not the greatest idea as in the look of it, then they could go back to Voss and say the old board made a mistake.

Although 2 of those board members are on the new ticket they could come out and say, if true, that they motioned it on the belief Johnson had Roos in the bag or alluded too.

It could be spun right with a change of board.

Spun externally perhaps but his authority over the playing group would be seriously weakened.

Like chopper said... It's done. The board made the shit sandwich and we all have to take a bite.
