Suddenly you believe one of your favourite journalists?

Settle down BB.

Even if we go on more conventional figures being thrown around weeks ago which were closer to 1.5m a year, we simply aren't capable of swimming with those fishes right now, especially as we need to add another couple of assistant coaches to the ranks as well.

At least Melbourne has a massive latent support base ready to emerge from the woodwork if they are sold hope which will mitigate their spending a little bit. Roos would have had an effect up here on the membership too but I doubt to the same extent.

We will need to spend our financial assistance AFL money a little more prudently I think. A hungry and highly regarded rising star assistant coach from one of the power clubs to fill the senior role and some quality, proven development coaches. Would love to try and get Craig McRae back again if we could.

Settle down me? It was only an ironic point being made.

TBD - I am one of the only few here that has managed to keep emotion aside when posting since this fiasco commenced (not easy at times), certainly not me that needs to settle down. ;)

Cool. Adding heaps to the conversation. :thumbsu:

I feel pretty detached from this soap opera to be honest. Leigh will get us somebody of quality.

Head in the clouds?

Probably.

Yep... I'm hearing you. I've reached the point where it's no longer worth trying to figure this whole thing out or to try and predict some future based on TBDs hopium as he calls it.

I can't say I'm over it or not annoyed but this has just devolved to such a pointless go around, and guessing game that we just have to let the cards fall where they may.

How embarrassing if he can't deliver.

The AFL are underwriting the whole venture so the risk seems somewhat minimal really. Worst case scenario Roos tops up his super and buys each of his kids a house and Melbourne try again in 5 years with their next bailout package.

As long as you have value to the league in some form, the safety net is there. You just have to fall pretty hard first to get it. Wonder how far off we are?

Ratten?

Might as well shut this down. He'll get a 2 year contract even if we lose to GWS.

The board will go into meltdown though when Roos signs with Melbourne.

Posted this 3 days before Voss was sacked.

At least it looks like I got one thing right.

Genuine question:

why does there appear to be so much negativity surrounding choco? apparently club power brokers wouldn't be keen on bringing him to the club?

personally i'd prefer choco over eade by a mile

Should not have said this, I may need to retract it in three weeks time when he is appointed our next coach.:(

Settle down irel. We are only bringing Wallet in for two years as part of the succession plan while Steven Milne does his apprenticeship.

He has a very difficult personality to get along with.

I think the people who are against Choco are so passionately against him that it gets misread as widespread negativity.

I'd take Choco.
We should be a finals team next year, so my other concern with an untried coach was their ability to coach us in finals.
Just out of interest if we play finals and assuming bombers are in the 8 two teams need to drop out, who do you think they are?

What also shits me about this is watching Alistair Lynch no give a flying f...stuff about out predicament and our inability to acquire a decent coach or his good mate Paul Roos or the treatment of what I thought was another of his good mates Michael Voss...be critical for Christ's sake Al.
