Why are Port more hated than the Crows?

More pity and derision than hate imo - they aren't successful enough to warrant the latter. They go on about creed/existing to win premierships, yet haven't won anything in 20 years. At the same time of claiming fake history and traditions like NTUA - it just comes across as cringe.

And having a dud breakfast TV host as Chairman is an embarrassment to anyone.

Which Port?
Power and Magpies were always two separate clubs, one based at Alberton the other based at Ethelton.
Different theme songs as well.
They’re the same, and he died prior to the existence of the power. His feelings would’ve remained the same

As long as Port stay away from our black and white stripes I've no issue with them. I often enjoy reading their Hinkley thread after a loss.😂

I don't mind Port or the Crows for that matter. They've both been great additions to the comp.

Koch is a massage knob. Can't stand him but that doesn't make me hate Port.

I reckon the rivalry has got a bit more heated since the introduction of Adelaide Oval as a result of both teams and their fans getting relentlessly more frustrated with their own clubs underachieving as badly as they have. Both groups hate their own coaches pretty brutally as well (One much more then the other obviously)

For me personally my hate for the crows has always been because of the fans. They get more joy out of watching us lose then they do their own team actually winning, and I reckon that's become more frequent as a result of their finals drought since there isn't much else they can celebrate.
They'd happily win this weekend and sacrifice a higher draft pick just to ruin our top 4 chances. I guess the only good thing I can say about the bitterness is that it shows how intense the rivalry is and how engaged they are with it.
That said some of the crows fans in Youtube comment sections who still make horrific jokes about J-macs death and threats are absolutely the worst.

Boring place with even more boring people
Better looking woman, better beaches, no toll roads, no Victorian police, no Dan Andrews, no machete gang fights in the suburbs.
The only good thing about Melbourne is that there is a Kebab caravan on every street corner, and you are still allowed to catch Snapper.

All you have to do is spend some time conversing with the Port locals on their BF board. It will soon become very apparent why they have the biggest group of flog supporters. Now, imagine a whole club full of them, from the board members to the cheer squad.
They also have weird sentimental things, like the Creed, the Prison Bars, Fos.
When they first entered the AFL, they cut out a piece of the Alberton turf and planted it into the turf at Football Park. They had a little ceremony and all.
The next Crows training session, the players all went.over to it and plssed on it.

Port have an air of earned arrogance about them - and yes I know it comes from the SANFL.

The crows smack of of commercialisation, chardonnay and nannas who love to cheer on average players using nicknames.

S. Pete
Crows are for people who like Ed Sheeran, Taylor swift etc and only eat butter chicken because other curries are ‘too spicy’. Same as the West Coast Eagles.

Only because we can afford to buy Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran tickets. Other clubs supporters have to be happy with having a sing along to an INXS love song before their game.

What year are you in?
No dan Andrews here either. Still a Labor government like yours though?
SAPOL are way worse. Your road fines are ridiculous.

I like Port. I have only disliked one of their players, that knob Cornes, and it's as much fir his media career. They were the mini Magpies and it's sad they had to give it up but we had it first, and it's our league.

The Crows I don't care much about, they seem a bit weird.

Port are based on genuine club. They have a strong 'supporter culture'. They have a history which they annoy other clubs' supporters with (because ours are better  ). There is a bit of grudging respect for them for being a football club.

Therefore they attract more 'hate' than the franchises such as the Crows. Notice those are all down near the bottom of the list because no one really cares enough about them. West Coast are the most hated of those because they have been the most successful.

It will take a few generations before the franchise clubs are accepted enough to be 'hated'. (ie - a lot of the old buggers like me will have to die).

I don’t mind Port. I like their fans - they know how to take the piss out of themselves.

I quite enjoy lurking their board, and St Kilda board. Quite a lot of funny posters there.

It would be fun to see them win the flag this year just to see it confuse the shit out of the sack Hinkley crowd.

It wouldn't confuse anyone. If I coached an AFL club forever they would flag up eventually

Maybe true.

I have good reason to believe that it is technically possible to win a flag with an ordinary coach.
