Odd take. Considering the Crows' entire marketing strategy is revolved around state based patriotism, "The Pride of South Australia" Stare Colours, State Moniker, State shaped new logo, "Made From South Australia" theme. Would this not be the definition of MAGA type marketing?
I'd take SA's beauty over Victoria's any day of the week.

There are 119 reasons why I have softer spot for Port than I do the Crows who I think used to have a pretty good record against Geelong from the late 90s to around the 2005. I must be one of the few exceptions to the rule, I disliked the Crows but begrudgingly respected them in that period.
That I said back in the late 90s there was this oddball goofy teacher at a new school that I moved to that claimed he was from Geelong but barracked for Port. For some reason though he was prone from time to time to go on weird off tangent diatribes in class about why he moved out of Geelong (i.e the usual meth town and other nonsense) and explain why he didn't barrack for Geelong (handbagger references), deciding once he left Geelong to barrack for Port instead or maybe he already supported the Power before he left, who knows.
I don't recall ever letting anybody know that I was Geelong supporter at that school but it was possible that I did and somehow a classmate told this goofball about it and he did this to get a rise out of me or something. Didn't work, I just thought it was weird and uncertain whether it was comedy act put on specifically for me.

Other than being the second AFL club in their state I wouldn't have thought Fremantle and Port Adelaide have much in common. Port Adelaide willingly bringing the SA-equivalent-of-Collingwood, Us-vs-Everyone stuff with them to the AFL is why they're financially behind Fremantle.

If Crows hadn’t entered and it was port. I’d just stayed watching Norwood every week in the sanfl until Norwood likely entered the AFL. I liked to watch Melbourne before crows due to them having the Norwood song.
I followed Melbourne. They were red and blue like my Norwood boys. Same song. VFL was on tv in sa as well so made sense to follow a side.
From a Vic point of view. What's a Norwood? They had football in SA before 1990?
From a Port point of view. Lol Norwood.
Bogan count is high among both supporter groups.
