Not at all. I just dislike arrogance. Their arrogance bred my hatred. I had nothing against them, and still wouldn't, if they had the grace to be a bit humble.

If you think we are arrogant, it will be a drop in the ocean compared to you guys if WC win the premiership. You guys are arrogant now and you haven't won anything yet !!

you know what? i freakin' HATE melbourne supporters. i was watching them THRASH my side on friday night, and it dawned on me how GOOD their team is. the players. melbourne has an AWESOME fleet of medium-height onballers/forwards. their spine may be a bit weak in a few years, but they are a fair team. quite good to watch, also...
<snip>
such boring, tepid people. they contribute NOTHING to society, and they are utter wastes of space.

You know when your angry your social analysis is very insightful and cutting!

very amusing!

I cant wait until Essendon beats you to get an insight into myself :D

Wiggles, for obvious reasons, surrounded by them, constant 92-94/derby score reminders and the fact that they built their success on the entire WAFL, and especially South (and East) Freo players.

Port are closing in fast though... Most other clubs would be embarrassed by this year's drop, but they are so arrogant they don't care. "But we won last year". meh.

And of course the umpires who despite not wearing blue and white anymore, still seem to favour any team in those colours (or from Victoria, or have big name players etc etc).

it's just their PATHETIC supporters i hate. two rangerovers in the driveway(goddamn i hate four-wheel drives...), a house on the camberwell/hawthorn border, useless housewife (can't cook, clean or do ANYTHING remotely domestic), and their fat, insolent over-spoilt ONLY child. yuck.

they are ALL so sensible. they all wear 'nautica' clothing because they once rented a yacht for the weekend. so far removed from the rest of humanity. they wear leather gloves. the women wear sensible shoes and non-revealing clothing. with a sensible, demure shoulder-length bob cut style. the husband is an architect or a doctor, maybe even a specialist (neuro surgeon), he plays golf ONLY because his firm expects him too. he reads 'the age' newspaper, newsweek, financial review and the economist ONLY because it is expected of him. he has no backbone and a TOTAL inability to discipline his ONLY CHILD, mostly because he doesn't care for it. he married his wife, largely because he needed a younger replacement for his mother...

the child has been spoilt since birth, and either attends xavier, trinity, carey or maybe even assumption college. the child (most likely a boy) went to this school WHOLLY because his parents need to keep up appearances. they have NO idea what sort of school it is, what the curriculum focus is and what the school specialises in.

they always have 'dinner parties' which end before 9 pm, and they BUY into culture. they have no idea how to be a part of it, they need to BUY it. they enjoy shopping at 'independant' groceries because they like to give something back to the community, unaware that they are getting the CRAP ripped out of the them because all produce comes from the same supplier.

such boring, tepid people. they contribute NOTHING to society, and they are utter wastes of space.
Solid Gold.

I have never met one Melbourne supporter who fits this mould, and I've met plenty of Melbourne supporters.

I don't hate any club for their supporters, because every club has their share of nice supporters and complete twits. In fact, my best friends all barrack for Carlton, Essendon, Richmond and even... Collingwood!

My hate for clubs varies depending on the seasons, their current coach and players. This explains why I hate Sydney so much. Not only is Darren "I'm not getting enough game time because I'm injured" Jolly playing for them now, but their coach is ruining football. He is a stubborn idiot, who cares more about his win-loss record then bringing a premiership to the Swans.
I also hate Essendon for all their dirty tricks and arrogance. In fact, if it wasn't for James Hird I would respect them as much as I respect terrorists!

spot on. i've also met the stalking-around-the-playground paedo types (seriously, he used to have a demons beanie...) as well as your dole-cheating drug addict demon supporters...

it's just those 'special few' demon supporters who i've happened to sit next to over the last few richmond-melbourne games...

they are the TOTAL antithesis of 'supporter'. they sit and watch. they barely move during the quarter, and NEVER show any sign of emotion. as if they are STILL in the office calculating the company's projected net profit and analysing a realistic sales target for the third quartile.

everything about them is 'keeping up with the joneses'. as if the boss FORCED him to be a football fan.

They think they run the AFL.
Are hypocritical regarding concessions and try to poach players from other clubs.
Think they are a successful club when they have won 1 flag in 45 years.
Think that with their team of hacks they will win the flag.

Enjoy the fact that Buckley left Brisbane to play in a Premiership side.
Enjoy Collingwood talking up their flag chances and then watch them flounder all season.
Let's break these down:

My Brother in law barracks for them.

Obviously a personal reason, irrelevant overall.

They think they run the AFL.

I suppose it's possible to see it that way, seeing as our President is clearly the most prominent Media personality around. However, it's just that even beyond what Eddie himself promotes, which is bound to get a lot of coverage, other media seem to track our runnings much more than any others. The stories that we get on Channel 7 and 10 outnumber those on any other Channel, so it's not just Eddie McGuire that places all of our runnings at the forefront of the media.

Are hypocritical regarding concessions and try to poach players from other clubs.

First of all, 3 weeks ago, we were sitting at 1-7, and in line for priority picks, and Eddie still went on the radio and said that it is an unjust system, and they should be eliminated.

We're not hypocritical about concessions, we oppose them, and do not receive them. How is that hypocritical? If you want to bring up Footy Show deals, that has nothing to do with recruiting on our behalf. The Footy Show deals are just something that is available to a player that is in Melbourne. Other clubs could just as easily use the tactic to recruit interstate players as we could. If, say, Essendon attracted Chris Judd to come over, they could say to him, "if you're here, you could do media appearances and gain a lot of money from them, such as the Footy Show". The Footy Show would signa deal to have him on, seeing as most of the players signed to deals with Channel 9 aren't Collingwood players anyway. Outside of Nathan Buckley, Collingwood guys are rarely seen on the show.

The newspaper story about us "poaching" Nick Dal Santo and others leave out the fact that in Dal Santo's case at least, Essendon were equally, if not more interested. We haven't been the only club interested in any of the players we've been identifyed as trying to "poach", there's always other clubs involved, but we're the ones that make the news. It's not anything different, Collingwood just makes the media more than any other club.

Think they are a successful club when they have won 1 flag in 45 years.

Making the Grand Final is still a successful year. Do you think anyone hates the fact that we've one one flag in 45 years more than Collingwood? But we've been runner up a lot, and even that is a lot more success than some clubs have had.

Think that with their team of hacks they will win the flag.

We came within 9 points of a flag. Depending on who you ask, a dubious Anthony Rocca "point" could've changed the game dramatically. You can call us hacks if you want, but there are approximately 2 teams that have gotten closer than us to a flag in the past 3 seasons, and both of them actually won it. The teams that have been in the last 3 Grand Finals are all doing poorly, the last 4 if you include Essendon. Are all of them "teams of hacks"?

Enjoy the fact that Buckley left Brisbane to play in a Premiership side.

Buckley left Brisbane because he has always loved Collingwood, and wanted to captain a side in Victoria. He was offered HUUUUGE money to go to Port Adelaide when they were starting, and took less to stay with Collingwood. He never came to Collingwood thinking he had a better chance at winning a Premiership. Obviously he thought he could, and wanted to win one, but as was said, he came damn close. He won the Norm Smith medal in a 9 point losing campaign. He couldn't have done any more, and I don't think he'd trade his experience with Collingwood for all the Premiership medals in the world.

Enjoy Collingwood talking up their flag chances and then watch them flounder all season.

As I've said, nobody's talking up our flag chances this season.

I understand hating us for reasons like the "they think they run the AFL", or if you think our supporters are ferals (which, quite frankly, some of them are), but mocking Nathan Buckley, or thinking we're the only ones doing things like talking to out of contract players is just ludicrous.

Why do we hate the teams we hate?

Because they wear purple, receive standing ovations after getting flogged, have a marshmallow as a coach, wear purple and bash their wives ;)

Today i decided to take the time reading through some threads. I came to the conclusion that Carlton are definately the most hated team atm, but is it because they are simply easy targets because they are set to win thir 2nd spoon?

Stkilda, Essendon, Collingwood and Melbourne supporters seem to hate the blues the most, where as it's Richmond, Carlton and Essendon supporters hate Collingwood the most....

St.Kilda seem to be the less-bagged side along with North

but why do we hate the teams we hate? the one and only team i hate is Richmond, but mostly due to their supporters....never heard a crowd boo so much for the opposition when i went to the Carlton V Richmond game...despite the fact they were....a good 70 pts up at the time...

So which team do you hate? and why?

Mainly, I despise Essendon beyond words that can be expressed, due mainly to:

1) Their god awful supporters
2) The dreadful scum that play for the team
3) The fact that the club and its players do and say as they wish, ********ting on the AFL and the game from a great height, with the AFL holding their mouths open begging to be shat in some more.

Aside from that, I dislike other teams on a game by game basis.

I work in Malvern, and I honestly have these Melbourne supporters come in all the time. I've actually seen people who had been at the game in the store before it had finished in bad times.

They're the typical "bottle of wine a night" yuppies that he was talking about. My brother went out with a girl whose parents (and her, evidently) were exactly like that. One year, we beat them pretty badly on the Queens Birthday, they actually went home during the 3rd quarter, and watched a video of them beating us from several years earlier. It was quite pathetic.

Not saying all Dees supporters are like this, but they definitely exist, and I see a lot of them. Usually around the Toorak/Malvern/Caulfield/Murrumbeena area.

Bummers - clearly

why - where do we start.

* The way their supporter's so arrogantly over-rate their own team even when they are consistently failing
* The way the all start swooning everytime J.Hird gets a possesion
*The way they cheat the salary cap and get rewarded with flags
* The way they cultivate asswholes like M.Johnson. Moorcroft, Cupido, etc
*Fatarsed supporters who tattoo themselves with "I am Essendon" and claim the Jobe Watson will be the next Jonathon Brown

simple really!

Actually mate hate to burst your bubble but it's fairly common knowledge over here that Buckley was within an inch of signing for the inaugural Port Adelaide side. The only think that stop Nafan from signing was the fact that he wanted to be the first captain of Port and Port had already signed Wanganeen and set him the captaincy in stone. The club then offered Nafan the Vice Captaincy as it was the next highest accolade they could offer but the arrogant little boy turned down the offer because he wanted the captaincy.

That was one of the few positives I managed to console myself with when Port won the flag :)

No doubt these supporters exist. Just like there are toothless Collingwood supporters with a criminal record, but that does not mean the majority of Collingwood supporters fit this mould.
I know lawyers who are Richmond supporters, doctors who barrack for Collingwood and plumbers who are die-hard Melbourne fans.
Many clubs have these 'stereotypes', but in all honesty we all know that every club has a large range of supporters and most of them are actually decent people (they love football afterall! :) )
