The fact Tassie is coming in is why Draper is important for us purely because you assume Tassie will poach some players from Vic clubs meaning they'll be space on those Melbourne clubs list to go talent hunting.

If we pick any of those Vic lads and turn in to great players, these days clubs are selling the farm in terms of 7 year million dollar Deals.

Just watch what happens to Reid, he's not staying at West Coast long term. It's now Vic clubs jostling to get into position in order to recruit him.

It's a player market now, big long term offers and you can chose where ever you want to go. Especially with two year worth of future picks about to be able to trade, club are going to have 2 or 3 firsts to give up for these players
Thats not a silly way to look at it imo. You have to plan for years down the track and if we get a crow loving local who also happens to be one of the best in the draft in a crucial position of need, you have to try to make it happen.

You could see vic clubs targeting butters exactly like what you have said if not already before.

Fog, rankine, thilthorpe, draper* would all be topline local crow supporting draftees that we should be able to retain. That is a heavily talented bunch.

* assuming we get him

Its a candidate for the worst trade in AFL history. The AFL has to ratify all trades as a win win and this is clearly not. Carlton gave up pick 12, 14 and Owies and got pick 3? like what in the cluster **** of all trades is that.
Outdone the worst of Gold Coast, who have been an very easy touch for 15 years.

Will only look good if they get Warner next year with their three first rounders. Warner and Reid would be a fair pair! Freo have blown their chance by using their three firsts on Bolton.

So much double guessing going on, any of the 4 players will be excellent and we are getting one of them unless our team get too cute by half and reach for a player
I'm excited for pick 4, we will get one of the top five rated players but suggest people do some research.

Every player touted to be in the top 6-8 is being talked up as a can't fail future A grader. History tells us that every draft has similar "can't fail" draftees actually fail to reach those heights, some are huge disappointments that no one could see when they were drafted!

I just hope like hell we don't select one of those. Full confidence in the recruiters
