You want to bring in 4 underdone players!
Ward, Johnno, Murphy and Reid!
Against a hardened team like Brisbane!
The other 18 would have to play 90% TOG for that to work.

Murphy is hardly underdone. Picken had more weeks off and came straight back into the side.

I said maybe to Johnno, depending on if his fitness it where it should be.

Reid has played 3 games now, and is a professional athlete. How long is it going to take? Does he need 10 weeks?

A 75% fit Ward is better than a 100% Moles.

So the contest wasn't hot in the last? Seemed to me like the entensity was the hottest it was in the last and we seemed to be the better out of it.

Yep, the quarter started with Pies 6 gaols ahead and they were really under the pump. I assume you missed last week's game.

The look of releif on the pie players faces clearly shows they didn't put the cue in the rack as some claim they did.

They sure did, but were pleased like any other side well on top for three quarters to escape.

Unfortunitly we just let them get out to a too big of a lead.

Yes, "Unfortunitly" we did. But it was our choice, wasn't it? Had nothing to do with them playing all over us, all over the ground.

It's an issue for concern no doubt but i will be more worried at collingwood for not being able to put away a side missing 5 key players and down a man all game.

Yep Malthouse and Pies fans will have a troubled sleep tonight, while all is well at the Kennel.

Atleast were 1 player closer to full strength. Shame it could be murph in, Higgins out.

You think they'll put Murph straight back in? How much match time will he be able to safely withstand? And is that the sort of message the MC wants to send the players after the past 11 weeks of favouritism has dropped us into our present pothole?

Never said all is well at the kennel but not all is lost either. We had some positives out of the game and have alot of talent that could be brought back into the side. The pie's on the other hand were pretty much at their best and were a couple of mins away from dropping a game from such a strong winning position.

Might help if you posted intelligent arguments.

Why should i bother when your already made up your mind in a negative way and anything that will be said is just seen as an excuse or simply seen as a crap post because i choose to look at the rest of the season in a positive manner instead of a negative one which your choosing.

What bit don't you get from our last two games? We were totally outplayed and each score really flattered us.

Is that really hard to grasp?

And is it hard to grasp that going what we've shown on half a season so far, we'll be lucky to make the finals? And if we do, we'd only last a week or two?

We have beaten nobody, and don't raise the Swans game when they were missing both ruckmen, their best defender, one of their best forwards and a couple of others.

Starting with considering the facts objectively would be a good start.

The fact that you posted earlier that you thought that the Pies had greater concerns than us after tonight marks you as someone who has less than a tenuous grip on reality.

The underlined bit echoes my thoughts at the moment. Very real possibility that we will miss altogether, IMO, and a shocking result given how close we were last year/how much we promised this year.

Positive: We didn't give up. We only just lost to a genuine premiership contender at full strength, whilst having 4 of our best 22 out. Put Murphy, Johnson, Hargrave and Ward into that team and we would have done better. They will return soon enough and hopefully find great form at the right end of the season. It's not done yet.

I thought Eagleton turned the ball over as much as Addison tonight. Only difference being, Addison did some hard defensive work to complement his turn-overs. I've been a fan of the Eagle in the past, but his work ends up in goals for the opposition as often as it ends up in goals for us. And he's too afraid even to have a ping from 50 nowadays, which used to be his meat and potatos, obviously hasn't got the shoe that he used to have.

Can't see who we replace him with though. Everitt?

I won't mention the swans game but tell me when have we been close to being at 100% ourselves?

Johnno, aker, hargrave, picken, ward, griffen, higgins, murph just to name a few have missed games this yr. Minson has had an interupted pre-season and today showed signs that he could finally be getting form/fitness back. If we get those players mentioned back in and get some form their is such a massive upside to our game. Despite that were only 2 games out of the top four. Not bad considering the poor form and injuries we have had this season. It's that reason that im not ruling us out this yr.

Sure we have had 2 bad losses to the pies this yr but we did to st kilda last yr aswell and were so close to a GF.

Don't replace Eagleton with anyone. Leave him in ffs and just get off his back. He wins games off his own boot sometimes, few other players in our team do that.

If you are going to knock a guy for a bad game then jump all over Harbrow. He got thrashed one on one with Davis, and turned it over so many times. But we wont drop him, and we shouldn't. Apply this theory to Eagleton please, cos he is so valueable to our team and the constant knocking of him is disappointing.

Everitt should be in our side regardless - he's as important a player to our current/future structure as Williams is. Why he is out is a mystery to me, and I'd be very happy for someone to enlighten me.

Not having watched Williamstown too much, I believe Reid or Wood are Eagleton's natural successors. Reid is coming off injury, not sure where Wood is at.

I fear for eagle. I think he could be once again dropped. Made some poor kicking errors. There was an incident where gia made a lead and instead of kicking it to him he blazed into the 50 to nobody when while gia may not have taken the mark he at least would have been able to make a contest instead of an easy gather and rebound. Did this on a few occasions. He, Harbrow and Gilbee, Some of our better kicks just kicked it to opposition players on to many occasions.

You're not really getting this, are you?

It's 2010, not 2008 or 2009. Coaches have worked us out. And sure we now have Hall, but Aker, Eagleton and Hahn are almost gone. Johnson has missed half a season and it is reasonable for neutral fans are entitled to ask if he's going to have a last season like Buckley or Ricciuto.

And a whole lot of players are down on form. For half a season. Sadly that's 100% ourselves for 2010.

Why aren't you calling for Harbrows head then? Because it's ridiculous, thats why. Treat Eagleton as you treat other players.

Eh?

Eagleton appears to be on a sad trajectory down with age that we have seen many times before.

Harbrow has youth and upside* on his side.

*Except if he's going to the Gold Coast.

I don't see Eagleton in our absolute best 22, but calling for his head now while we are in such bad shape seems pointless to me. It's unlikely that we will always have our best 22 available and he is number 23. His experience counts and if the staff didn't think there was value in him still, then they would have retired him at the end of last year. This year isn't over and we aren't in the rebiuld stage.

I This year isn't over and we aren't in the rebiuld stage.

Disagree. After half a season, we look more like a 5-10th spot side, not a top 4 side threatening to win a GF.

I'd much rather we recognise this, and get game time now into players who could significantly contribute to a serious threat in 2011 and 2012.

You realise that there isn't actually a rule that says you can't finish 5th, and be in outstanding form at the time and go on to win the flag, right?

what if things end up like this?

1. Geelong
2. Freo
3. St Kilda
4. Collingwood
5. Dogs
8. Essendon

Saints play Freo, lose.
Dogs beat Essendon, retain form.

Saints host the Dogs at the G, coming back from a trip interstate, against a team in form. Who has the advantage?

Or would you prefer to finish 4th and come up against Geelong?

I know that only once in the past 20 years has a team finished outside the top 4 and won the flag, so it's possible. If you are giving up now then i have to question what sort of supporter you are. For the dogs to win, they will have to prove statistics wrong. If it's all about stats then let's just give geelong the premiership cup right now.
