Again tonight turnovers from Smith cost goals, again tonight Smith went at contests half a**ed. Send him back to Victoria and pay for his plane ticket out if necessary. Sick to death of the s**t he dished up. I fair dinkum hope he hasn't reached 50 games yet because if he does reach 50 that is a joke

really frustrating watching smith ,some games he shows his worth perservering with but games like tonight under pressure he has little effect .WCE just have too keep putting games into him so Smith can learn how to perform under pressure and minimise the mistakes ..

The problem is it looks like he doesn't even want to play AFL. Its as if his parents are forcing him to be out there. Seems to be getting progressively worse.

Watching the sports highlight on channel 7 news it looked like he said ****en hell or something after pods kicked a goal.

He has the tools to be a good footy player but as others have said his attitude is lacking. Keeps his head down too much, spends a significant portion of time wiping his fringe out of his eyes.
Will run past the ball to keep his man out of it, when he has attacking attributes and should look to win the ball himself.

Smith seems like he'd be more at home playing video games and reading fashion magazines than being on an AFL list (although he clearly reads the wrong mags)
Ash, get a haircut and get a real job.

The most basic tenet in football is :

"You must WANT the football and when its your turn you must go and get it"

Unfortunately Smith doesn't follow this philosophy.

Sadly, his continual selection is symptomatic of a MC that values style over substance. Sure he's got pace (that he vary rarely uses to much affect) and he can kick a ball - but none of that's much use if you don't actually go and get the pill. At least Brennan tries.

Brennan shows the exact opposite problem that we have - giving games to people just because they try hard, even though they have no skill (there is a few of them selected every game). Neither appear to be a long term solution. Smith's best is better than Brennan's best, though.

1) IMO Smith is getting a game simply because he can kick a ball and with Glass, Butler, McKenzie (has improved) and Brown all in the backline - Smith is getting a game by default. This is sad really and an indictment on WC's development and a clear lesson for all young kids - learn to kick.
2) Whilst understanding and even agreeing to your point that Smith has a better skill set than Brennan, the simple fact is that Smith doesn't ever ever play to his skill set. You can only live on potential for so long and Smith passed that point some time back.

If he is keen to stay in WA, and hasn't made the decision that he wants to go home already, then I definitely think he is worth persevering with.

He is clearly lacking confidence, and, in my opinion, being unfairly judged. I think the comments of him having his 'head down, wiping his fringe out of is eyes etc etc' is a load of shit. I think this sort of body language is more indicative of the treatment dished up by dickhead, fair-weather supporters. He looked to me like he was having a crack, chased hard when he had to etc...pretty hard when the ball is just being waltzed through the midfield really. You could clearly see the annoyance/frustration the jeering/bronx cheering from the otherwise silent crowd was causing him. We'll end up just forcing him out of the club like we forced Swift out. So unnecessary. Same thing happens to Mitch Brown.

Lets hope we can force him out of the club.

I'd love to be able to only work half assed, wear my hair like a hippy and give my clients a big **** you by hamming up bullshit service. But hey **** them, I should be treated like a champion because I am a precious little flower.

Get ****ed.

I'm not singing his praises or anything, just think he's being a little unfairly judged. Had a good year in 2011, had injury interruptions since, has decent attributes. 41 games total, 18 of them in the decent 2011 year, deserves a bit of time. I'm sure if his alleged attitude was such a problem he'd have been given the boot already. Who ****ing cares about his hair or whatever else. I'm sure you're a big shot and that your clients are very satisfied.

Trade him. See what we can get from the Vic clubs so we can draft big time this year.

We wouldn't get much more than this for him on the trade market unfortunately Diego Garcia

C'mon we'd get at least a third rounder, right? ;)
There is plenty of talent around, we should be trying to clean out these players that promise something that never deliver. Let's bring some good kids in who are hungry to succeed and see if we can mount another challenge in a couple of years.

I don't have confidence in Smith, Brennan or Bennell going forward. Jury is still out on Carter. WC have a lot of guys who can play HBF/BP, but not many smalls that are actually good/classy. WC may need to invest some decent/good picks on remedying this situation in the next couple of years. WC paid first and second round picks to get good small/medium backmen in Hurn, Waters and Butler. (I know Butler was selected as a mid). WC can't be relying on 3rd, 4th or later round picks coming good and being mainstays of the defense.

I know it's only one player but I think we've found something to work with in Adam Carter who is probably the first real small defender that we have had since Wirrpanda
