Will we beat Essendon?

No need to stress or worry Freo supporters, u have already got this game in the bag.

Dockers by 70 points

Essendon will not score over 70.

It's a game we shouldn't lose. Thats what bothers me actually. I've backed us just because we played well enough to win last week barring straight king (in general play and at the goals).
My biggest worry is our defence. No Roger and Grover and we are in trouble. Atleast leave Grover down back and leave Pav close to goal. Please Mark!

I just can't tip us. Last week was one of the worst performances I have seen in a long time and I can't see how they can turn it around.

Stranger things have happened though.

Consider this:
Essendon's top 7 midfielders are:
Watson, McVeigh, Reimers, Welsh, Stanton, Prismall, Lonergan.

Of those seven, TWO are available for selection.

Also missing a few other top 22 players, including Hurley who destroyed Tredrea last week. In case they didn't have a depleted enough team last week, Houli has also now been left out with unproven defender Daniher, the still fairly new Myers, and debutants Quinn and Zaharakis the inclusions. They don't even have two ruckmen for the game.

If both teams had their 22, I would tip Essendon without a second thought. But surely no team in the comp could lose to what is effectively the Bendigo Bombers. Surely you would be confident of winning by a margin of about 30?

Sounds good from a Fremantle perspective, but I can't say I agree.

I would have Winderlich and Lovett ahead of Reimers and Prismall in regards to their best midfielders, both of whom are playing. Although they are missing some of their better midfielders, they still have the players to make up for that. Skipworth was excellent last week, and by all reports Zaharakis could have an immediate impact.

Hurley was playing his first game last week and did very well, so who's to say Daniher won't step up this week?

Meanwhile you could argue that we don't have two ruckmen either, as Bradley is really only a part time ruckman. Although he should beat Ryder in the ruck contests.

Having said that, we should win. But I think it will be closer than I'd like.

Yeah, I dunno. Winderlich is usually used to run off half back, but I guess it's similar to a midfield role. Lovett's problem is that he can't be relied upon, you just sort of have to cross your fingers and hope he has an influence. When he's on song he can be more dangerous than any of the others, but there's always a chance he'll go missing for long periods.

Difference is Hurley was a high pick who was apparantely ready made. Daniher was a third round pick who has already played a few games with the bombers and wasn't very good.
