I think we could do it better. The problem with team commentators in the NBA is that they are too biased and a lot offer little insight on the opposition. It might make a more comfortable viewing experience but not sure that I personally want to listen to people commentating as fans every game for years and building this echo chamber.

Now, if we could improve this and each club had a designated play-by-play (We have Papalia for example) with ex-Freo people as special comments who actually offer the best of both worlds then that would be great.

But this will never happen.

I dunno about Kelly Underwood, honestly don't really notice her. What does stand out about the commentary is how much the Vic ex-player commentators blatantly cheerlead for Vic teams. I never knew, for example, that Brad Johnson was a former Tiger. The more you learn...

She tends to be overly verbose for TV; even in the actual Orange Team clip she could've cut the syllables back to "7 in a row for..." instead of "7 consecutive goals for...".

Honestly I like her more on ABC radio, where you need to be more descriptive, but maybe that's cause you can't see what she's getting wrong.

I actually like her hosting the Offsiders on ABC TV on Sunday morning.

I think you are right her style is suited to Radio in play by play commentary but I think she would be better suited to special comments on TV.

Now if you want verbose have a listen to Dermie waffle on in special comments!

Not just Kelli, but she grates on my skin and does strange things to me hearing aid.
Not sure of his name, but the race horse caller that has stepped in recently is a prime example of jow callers should call games. Nust call what is happening where the ball is. Don't talk about what happened last week.
I agree, it is hard, but they need to become more professional. Oh.and stop yelling. The Voice never yelled and screamed

You hear it come up a lot in US sport but I can’t remember ever hearing any talk about commentators paychecks

I don't mind Dermie. I've done a little bit of junior coaching and I find his comments on things like body positioning interesting. Although he can go on while the actual game is being played.
I find Richo's 'captain obvious ' special comments hilarious.
Commentator: ' And that's a great contested mark to player X'
Richo: 'Contested marks are important because it allows you to have a shot on goal and get 6 points back on your opposition '

Underwood is probably equal worst for the stupid **** she says with about 3 others (in terms of how much they annoy me).

The reason she is my least favourite overall is I find her voice grating. It doesn't remotely suit the style of commentary she is trying to pull off. Always sounds strained.

That said, "The Orange Team" is so good I almost forgive her.

He didn't really enjoy Radelaide, but other than that he's been solid these past few weeks with tinges of excellence previous.

As has been mentioned we need that experience in the fwd line and I don’t see anyone with his class at Peel, yeah he’s had a quiet couple of games i’ll back him to get back to last years form and looks like the match committee do as well, short memories in here i remember the same discussions going on only for some posters to end up with egg on their face.

And on the contrary a 33 year kicking 25 to 30 goals off a hff in a year is paving their way.
