does anyone remember any votes that were given tonight or in previous years and you thought how on earth did he get a vote in that game? a lot of people have already mentioned Black's 3 votes for 16 disposals tonight.

I'll start it off...

Round 2, 2006 vs Hawthorn - Guy Richards 1 vote...1 kick, 5 hballs, 3 marks, 13 hitouts

I'm still scratching my head over that one

The reverse aswell. Hird's game against The Eagles in 2004 where he picked up 34 touches, 3 goals including the match winner, and 15 touches in the last quarter. Heaps of marks and heaps of clearances and he didn't pick up one vote. Probably the best non-polling game ever.

James Walker for his first Brownlow votes in a 150 game career.

13 disposals, 2 goals.

3 Votes
Same game as Adam Campbell got the two votes for 9 posessions and 4 goals.
So between them they got 22 disposals and 6 goals for 5 votes. In another game Pavlich got 30 disposals and 6 goals for 1 vote.

Umpires definetly on drugs that day. Who got the one vote?

harvey no votes vs bulldogs in round 22

thomas 1 vote vs adelaide, if any north player was going to get 1 vote it would be harvey

thats all i can remember for now but im sure ill post more tommorow

Probably along with Diesals.. What was it, 41 possessions?

Hirds was still better, dominating, game breaking performance but Diesels was pretty insane.

it just proves again that the umps have no idea, they just select the onball brigade which is what they see all day or night.

ill take your james hird, and raise you a Greg Williams, 40 odd touches 5 goals and nil votes lost the brownlow by a vote = ROBBED.

real problem is that the umpires like some players better than others, it is an award for the best and fairest, and sometimes we don't get to really see who the fairest player might be.

i'd suggest changing who gives the votes in the brownlow, but at the end of the day it's probably best just to put up with the controversies - just don't get too worried about the result and focus on your team's performance...

James Gwilt - 1 vote (Round 7 v Sydney)

He was brought in as our emergency full back and you would say that he did an acceptable job, but how he gets votes over the likes of Hudghton and Sam Fisher who dominate in defence every week is beyond me.

Looking at the stats his game does look pretty good.

Gwilt - 17 disposals, 9 marks
Hall - 14 disposals, 9 marks, 3 goals

But then compare to Sam Fisher's 23 disposals and 14 marks and it just looks stupid to give him votes.

I guess dark skin and an afro helped his case.

Can anyone top the Umpires votes from Richmond vs Brisbane game this year:
3 votes Black 16 possies (6 kicks 10 h/b) 1 mark 4 tackles 1 clearance
2 votes Patfull 12 possies (11 kicks 1 h/b) 8 marks 3 tackles 3 goals
1 vote Tambling 10 possies (8 kicks 2 h/b) 4 marks 3 tackles 2 goals

Now I realise this game was a very poor game but there were some players that did more than enough to warrant votes ahead of these 3 players:

Lappin - 28 possies (18 kick 10h/b) 5 marks 5 tackles 7 clearances
Drummond - 30 possies (25 kicks 5 h/b) 13 marks 23 rebound 50's
Notting - 27 possies (19 kicks 8 h/b) 13 marks 4 tackles 3 clearances
Foley - 26 possies (12 kicks 14 h/b) 5 marks 6 tackles 3 clearance 8 contested possies
K.Johnson - 22 possies (16 kicks 6 h/b) 11 marks 7 tackles 5 clearances

That is just so laughable it's beyond words.

Really good post there, Tiger.
The umpires on the day should be called to account.
Fair enough to get one guy wrong, but all three ? ? ? WTF ! ! !

Of course I may be a little biased as I backed Bartel to be leading after Round 11.
I do still get payed half but the "We love you Simon" fanclub have stolen the other half.
