Not just 5th this year but wooden spooners in 2023.

Long time ago, but saw them demolish Altona in the Elimination Final, and thought wow, Hoppers were very good. 3 different premiers in last 3 years great competition.
That amazing….considering any other year they would’ve been relegated and had’ve played D2 this season. Superb effort, good to see a once proud club rise back up. Well deserved

Went to today's GF and what a great game it was. Well done WFNL. Great football played at a great ground. Hoppers kicked away in the 2nd quarter but WD came back in the third to be only 1 point down at orange time. The last quarter was one for the ages. HC kicked away again and were 19 points up well into the last quarter. Guess who kicked the next 3 goals! Werribee - only to be denied by the smallest of margins when the final siren rang. I recorded the last two quarters and I'll share the YouTube link on this site in a couple of days. Gotta luv suburban footy.

Its amazing how a few fly in players can help
I dont know if your taking the Piss here or being positive.

Anyway here's a few key facts. ( If your taking the Piss ).

1 - If your club isn't trying to get talent into your club to enhance their chance of success then give it away.
2 - Bringing Jed Anderson to the club is awesome, not only to Hoppers but the league to promote the league not only in Melbourne, Victoria but also within Jed's circle of friends and contacts and I am sure he would have more than a few.
3 - On Josh Pickess, he moved interstate and has played with Hoppers for several years now and had no issue in playing at Hoppers because we were happy to have him.
4 - All I know is that both these 2 players are a benefit to Hoppers and the promotion of the league, as we know the wfnl has been getting slagged everywhere as a shit competition compared to several years ago and we all want it to hit the heights of the past.

Great game of local footy. Pressure was huge for the whole game and neither side let up.
Great day all up however the 18.5’s walking around with cans in hand, dunno it’s a great look for the comp. I know they were most likely the 18 year olds but keen to get some other perspectives. Thoughts?

Even if they were 16, good one em. If all they were doing was drinking them so what?

16’s a bit of a stretch when at a public venue especially when leagues push related causes.
My point was at worst they are 16, even then it’s not that of a “bad look”, in all actuality they were most likely 17, 18.

Don’t tell me the moral compass people are starting to find their way from marvel to local footy

It’s 18.5 therefore some of them are legally allowed to drink!! Your top age kids will be over 18. Not much can be done there
Agree. The game was a great advertisement for the league. The whole days was. No dramas, great football and a fitting result that should be applauded for a clubs efforts in a 12 month turnaround.
No need for negative comments.

Nah people weren’t pissed off with it, were just saying that it’d be a dilemma for the league if some of the younger blokes were having a crack out in the open. Do they get asked for ID?

There was a fight towards the end of the 3rd in the crowd behind the goals.

Jed Anderson showed what a quality player he is not only by his actions as a player throughout the game but also by the way he stood up for his teammates by giving Shiebeci a lesson in what to expect for his sniper actions. Shiebeci must be having nightmares about taking his eye off the ball in the final minutes when if he didn't he could well have won the game with a kick at goal. Shiebeci met his match yesterday. Good job Jed Anderson.

So what about the rumour circulating that Parkside will merge with ascot vale juniors and move to Edfl by default. Leaving 11 teams in Div 1, if happens maybe Newport could be asked to stay down

Only rumours, the juniors can’t make that decision on their own. They need to get supporter from the over 35’s as they are all part of 1 club. My understanding is the over 35’s has the EDFL licence. So their would need to be a members meeting to discuss all this.

Interesting, listening to some committee members from Parkside, it’s done and dusted, I was under the impression the Edfl doesn’t want odd amounts of teams in any division, so not sure How they get in ..

Anderson was huge. Schibeci not the type to worry about physical contact. Just looked like he spent it before he had it. Think he was on his right side so wouldn’t have been a shot on goal.

What division? Unless it’s Div 2 doesn’t make much sense. Certainly won’t be premier…

If div 1 means 11 teams when premier has 10 and div 2 has 9. Just can’t see it happening unless Parkside come into division 2 taking it to 10 teams.

Is this already too late for 2025 ? Would have thought the application would already be in to AFL Vic/EDFL. Been a lot of noise for a couple of years on this merger, but nothing made public.
