WRFL Div 2 Discussion 2023

Unsure if 5 fringe CS guys will make them push for finals.
Something drastic would need to change there to seriously compete.

Honestly can’t see anyone getting close to Parkside with their recruiting and already strong list

In Albion’s case, an older few may help steady onfield if they recruit the right ones

Seeing the 2 games last season it looked like chaos footy

Will Braybrook have any premiership players this year playing? Dropping like flies… what the hell has happened to that club.

Every (seniors & readies) coach gone from last year except Danny De Vito.

Best to bring up suns and drop braybrook to Div 3…

Best to piss off the whole 3rd division

Are we forgetting that they had a great finals series but were generally pretty average during the regular season last season

They needed to recruit well, not lose players

Regardless of how successful they were last year, how do you burn through a list as well as burn through every coaching staff member that quick.. if they kept their players and still recruited the players they have they’d be an ok div 2 side.

Don’t know sounds like something happened there.

Is this proof that promotion/relegation doesn’t really work?

Maybe players are happy being complacent and don’t want to better themselves at a higher division?

How many Div 2 sides could seriously compete in Div 1.?

Div 3 has its place, leave them there and let it play out

Complacency is for reserves players

It’s local football, not everyone is aspiring to be the best they can be.

So, answer the question…
Who in Div 2 could go up and seriously compete???

Only one is Sunshine if they have recruited well. But we’ll find that out in round 1… If the game is close then they aren’t Div 1 material.

When you go up to Div 1 you need to be a 20 goal better side.

Unless they can recruit 6 to 8 genuine division 1 players and keep the list in full, none

Probably not in the first year to remain up but to compete with the top 4 definitely

Promotion/relegation will be of a bygone era. Comes down to resources as the committed player pool has significantly shrunk exasaserbated by covid.

If you do not provide appropriate comps.for levels of team more and more will cease to exist. Metropolitan football is more and more like the country.

Note Yea will not be fielding any teams this season.

So you need to find basically 3/4 of a new list to complete to close up the 20 goals?
And stay within player points?
And most likely not be able to go toe to toe with a Div 1 chequebook?

Scrap the divisions and let players move higher or lower depending if they want to test themselves or be big fish

I don’t see any need for promotion at all unless they specifically ask for promotion/relegation like deer park did (different leagues of course)

Promoting a team who is not ready is asking for mass exits) you play to compete, not forcibly get flogged

All valid points

What happens though if you have a team that needs to relegated because of a walkout or just drop in competitive knees in one division but no club below wants to be promoted ?

I guess reviews can be made over certain circumstances and years of a team struggling

Every club at some stage in its existence has been in that position

But then the question should be, why then is there a mass exit?

It’s more so a reflection of club culture or administration rather than result driven

I am not sure you understand how hard it is now to retain players, given they can earn much more working Saturdays

Football has.an issue, putting it on clubs is blatantly incorrect

You follow the Ammos, why do you want to kill off clubs in the WRFL?

Because the league panders to the clubs looking to accommodate the blokes who aren't committed, but put their hands out for cash like entitled brats.

Then they go broke, don't pay fees, don't accomplish anything, hide behind millions of bullshit excuses.

The league spends its time governing these rabbles, instead of ensuring it'd premier product is relevant.

If the sides in division 3 all went up to division 2 together, guess what, they would still compete against each other, just the divvy 3 hero's that sell themselves around to the highest bidder Todd Lawrie style, would actually have to earn their kicks and clubs might get smart about the people they bring in. Culture is king.

So whilst the league is trying to bail these clubs out of their own filth, they have lost 3 premier, division 1 clubs to rival leagues, had Manor Lakes and Glen Orden fold.

The comp shouldn't be broadcasting radio games outside of div 1, that should be a privilege of clubs that have rolled up the sleeves and actually having a crack.

If that upsets a few, maybe people should start thinking why is this league on its deathbed? What are we contributing to bring it back up? Or are we just here pleasing ourselves paying our cancerous leeches to produce ordinary cultures, ordinary standards and an ordinary result.

So yes, heck the div 3 off, the tail shouldn't wag the bloody dog!
