Coming from a very good resource ...

Laverton are expected to gain several North Footscray players over the pre season, mainly 2's players.

worst comment ever. to start with why would any of our 2s leave when they went through undefeated and won the flag .... lavo didnt make it...

seniors.. Every player from last year has already signed and committed to the club for 09 so they arnt going anywhere either... by the way we all signed at about round 14 so whoever told you that isnt a very good resource at all... they would be more of a goose than anything else. :D

News out of Coburg Districts.....

New Coaches Season 2009

The Coburg Districts Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Conduit as Senior Coach for season 2009 and Daryl Sedgwick as Reserves coach.

The Club would like to thank both Gary Cutler & Brett Carter for their efforts over the past two years in their respective Senior & Reserve coaching roles and on the professional manner in participating in the coaching interview and decision making process and wish them every success in their next coaching endeavours.

IMO Cuts and Carts very very stiff not to get reappointed !!!

sorry bells, i heard the 2s coaches adress in the first and 3rd final, and he was ordinary dont know wot his like tactically but he was terrible ion adressing the players. compare him to say the albanvale coaches adresses and their not on the same page.

obviously im not basing these comments on anything but adresses

Nah thats fair enough!

To be honest i didnt have much to do with the 2's and didnt really hear any addresses . i just thought that 7 pts from a prelim is enough to secure your job again thats all .

Im more shocked with the decision not to resign cuts . Hes done a good job the 2 yrs hes had the senior job and was very very popular with the players at the club .

The work hes done trying to bring the boys together after having so many new faces i thought was great .
Districts after all did beat all teams except for Nth Footscray this yr and we played finals even having played approx 40 players thru the firsts which i think is a good effort !!

I thought half way thru the yr he had all the boys gelling together quite nicely and he had them playing good footy.

With another yr and maybe a couple of new faces i thought he could of had even more success but its not to be :thumbsu:

also all of North Footscrays best reserves players are over 35..
so you wouldnt really want them anyway.

Bit of myth that. There was about 5 blokes over 30 in the magoos flag and they were not among the better players.

I know of one bloke who missed out on the magoos flag who might go. Might also be a couple of older blokes who didn't play in the reserves flag that might consider it so as to get a regular game of footy. One of these blokes has a brother in the Lavo reserves but he would be pushing 40 not out.

Hopefully we get a Superrules team so everyone has a place to play at the club.

lavo are still a while off dude... you may of improved but flags dont happen overnight and parkside will back me up on that. you may of improved your club but dont forget that if everyone else improves at the same rate you stay where you are and that is out of the 5. may of spent a long time in div 2 but we make finals and play off in them... BEFORE ANYONE ELSE SPEAKS I KNOW IF YOU DONT WIN THE FLAG IT MEANS NOTHING yes yes... BUT when lavo start making finals and
have as many flags in there trophy case as North do then you can sh*t can us... just dont do it when you still havent made a finals appearance.:eek:

how is the entry of Caroline Springs and Point Cook going to effect teams like Wyndamvale and Laverton in the coming years do you think?

young clubs with thriving juniors..
what do Laverton have that can compete with this?

how true.........

spoke to a couple of ressies players who said they wernt happy cause not getting a game....... happens everywhere when teams are strong.......

caroline springs will never happen..........
Are you saying that because Albanvale and Deer Park are located near there? Lets face it within 3-5 point cook and caroline springs will have senior sides up and running, eventually the suburb of Caroline Springs will be as big as Deer Park and will be able to support a senior side no doubt. Point Cook are already in the process of having a senior side and i think by 2010 they will have a side and Wyndhamvale, Laverton, Glenorden etc .. will all have to work hard to keep sides up. But then again Wyndhamvale look pretty safe with the new Manor Lakes area up there getting bigger. Two years ago Western Magpies had about 7 junior teams to this year having 1 so thats shown the impact that Point Cook has made in there short existance.

caroline springs will never happen..........

you've done well to elaborate on that..

As unit has said, the area are growing at a huge rate..
and the president of the league has already said she would encourage clubs in both of these growth areas..
Caroline Springs and Point Cook, (along with Hoppers and Werribee) are two of the only clubs with exclusive areas with large amounts of youth..
and with juniors you get parents involved at the club..
and thats how you get things done.

NO matter what happens as long as the teams are not rabble and they have good facilities i dont think anyone would complain with growing the division 2 competition. Its only healthy for footy as a whole ! and you never know if it continue's to grow we may have the debate on our hands "should we have a 3rd Division" ?:thumbsu:

There will never be a third division mate. The WRFL (FDFL) will never want to go down the path it went years ago when they had
A1 Section 1 and reserves
A1 Section 2 and reserves
A2 Section 1 and reserves
A2 Section 2 and reserves
A3 (thirds)

This is what drove clubs into trouble. Trying to match offers with so many other clubs. If the league want it to be a strong comp, then no more divisions.

Not that it matters much, but I am pretty sure that the only contracts the league will recognise are the league approved ones. And I am also pretty sure that they are only recognised from 1st October. So, if I am correct, the contracts that you guys signed in Rd 14 or so count for very little. As I said, it probably doesn't matter much, and I actually applaud the North guys for doing so. But yeah........

see your point however we have looked into this and they are recognised on the simple point that clubs are allowed to sign players within the season for the following season provided that they are registered with that club at the time. this is why a lot of clubs choose to sign people on 2 year agreements and they are allowed by the leauge.

having said that everyone is happy to stay at north so even if the ruling has changed it wont make much of a difference:thumbsu:

dont get me wrong i agree with you. I dont think there should be 3 divisions for the reasons that you stated.. i also think that the leauge should try and support the struggling sides in either division to make it more competitive.. beit that with discounted leauge fee's or however they choose to do so.. there is nothing worse than when you see 1 or 2 dominant sides in either division.:cool:

Discounted league fees may be a one option or perhaps they could even go as far as simulating one of the mornington leagues, and introducing a points system. e.g all players are registered through out Australia. So what they do is allocate points to the experience of each player. For example an ex-Afl player may be worth 10 points, and a player thats come up from juniors may be a 3 point player. The more years you have played local senior footy may see you reach a 5 or 6 point player. Then every week, each team is only allowed to field a certain total of points (team). Their thought behind this is to eliminate the clubs with the cash always dominating the gun recruits while helping the struggling clubs to even up. Some may like it, some may not. But i think it has more pro's than con's for LOCAL footy.

are they really doing that ? i think that is an awesome idea!! makes managing your team interesting and makes the comp a little more even!! brilliant

The Wyndham/Hobsons Bay area is the next big growth area for football in victoria. Its becoming like Sunshine with Deer Park, Albanvale, Sunshine, St Albans, Braybrook, Sunshine Heights and North Sunshine all within bees dik of each other yet still able to support senior and junior sides. This can only make for a stronger WRFL.

If you look at the area ive described weve got Altona, Lavo, Pt Cook, Glenorden, Werribee Juniors, Hoppers Crossing, Wyndhamvale and in other leagues theres Westbourne and Werribee Centrals all able to accomadate sides.

This could be good and could be bad .. when u think about it 10 -15 yrs ago there were clubs around Newport like Newport, West Newport, Brookyln, Seddon, ANBY, Willy United and Central Altona yet none exist. Maybe there are too many clubs
