Yarraville did not play finals last year, they would need to be recruiting pretty heavily in order to become the team to beat, espicially with Wyndhamvale, Parkside and even Coburg being very active in the early part of the recruiting stages, all these teams finished above them last year. Yarraville will definatley improve and play finals but not the team to beat not yet anyway. Wyndhamvale would be the team to beat at this stage i would say with Parkside not far behind. Coburg and Yarraville nipping at their heels, and Glenorden, Albanvale and West Foots the next best and fighting for the final position in the top 5. :thumbsu:

Agree, thats why i said i thought Yarraville would be team to beat, because of what they have recruited. 5 guys from Tulla, 2 ex Tulla players from Albanvale (Barry and mohamed) and now another 5 or 6 from Keilor Park. Thats 12 guys from EDFL which is a stronger comp.

Then Parkside as they have also picked up a handful from EDFL.

I think Deer Park proved last year that bringing in guys from a higher standard works

Played with and against a couple of the guys rumored to be coming from Tulla... Dean D'Orazio and Harmes. Both solid players, but not game changers. Will contribute, but not set the world on fire. And from what I know of Keilor Park, middle of the road B Grade side, so I can't see any players from there making a huge impact...

From what I have heard, the recruits going to Parkside from Avondale Heights will have much more of an impact... namely Mastropasqua (horrible spelling).

Wyndham Vale and glen orden will be the teams to beat.

Will be surprised if anyone has been more active in recruiting than glen orden...

Is Glenordern honestly any better off then previous teams that have been relegated in the past few years? Yarraville, Parkside and West Foots have all come down over the past few years and didnt really do much in their first year down, and it has taken them awhile to get a side together to Challange to get back up...Recruiting in numbers doesnt really mean anything if the players your recruiting are not players that will take you to the next level. A few Proven senior players with a touch of quality would be alot better to have :thumbsu:

From what I saw last season, Caroline Springs will need to improve out of sight to finish 7th... It's a big call having them finish above both Laverton and West Footscray!

Totally agree with you, just going by what i have heard recruiting wise..As i said just my opinion,by the the end of say round 5 think we all will have a better idea,& i'm sure it will change...But at least its got this thread going...lol...would like to see other peoples opinions/predictions...

untill we see the teams play it will be to hard to judge who the better sides are. I know coburg has recruited about 8 or more players. untill the clearances go through (late jan??) we wont know where each club stands.

Agreed. Untill the clearances come through it's just talk and hearsay. Besides the exodus from Albanvale, anyone like to confirm any losses at their clubs in terms of players leaving?

When are clubs returning to training? Any confirmed praccy matches?

Dont worry about Albanvale, we have some good kids coming through and plenty of guys from the twos who deserve an opportunity. We will be there abouts.

I heard on the grapevine Craig Wells is playing at Yarraville also.

Albanvale returned to training last Wednesday, ill confirm praccy games when i know more

Heard glen orden have picked up heaps but not much quality... Coburg will be strong in my opinion
GLENORDEN one word
can not speak on other teams, but don't be mislead we have recruited plenty of quality and proven footballers.leave us out of your top three if you want but you will be wrong.

I would be very surprised if wellsy didnt play for yarra this year.... From my ear being to the ground I think most clubs have had a very active off season and are trying to recruit well. Yarra is prob going to be the biggest mover with alot of handy inclusions if they all get over the line at clearance date opening. whoever said Harmes is not a great player I would think you have not seen this guy play he is 6.1 has a big engine can take a grab both body on body and in the air and has great polished skills will be in the top 3 forwards in comp...hard to match up on. theonly big question will be is how long will it take them to gell and learn theway each other play??? I am tipping yarra to finish on top.
Parkside have been trying to keep their recruits close to their chest and for good reason if they have got who I think they have got then they will be good, but again depth is prob parkside question mark and we all know it is a long season.
lavo may get back mick Lindsey but have lost a few of their better players in wells, kennedy and maybe driver and paoine but they also have some kids comming thru and recruiting adam Jacobs will help see them push for a top 5 spot.
coburg could also be a big mover with Rooney at the helm, he is a great coach and will keep them in line well and is sure to tap into his edfl experiance to gain a few players. they had great numbers on the track from what i have seen and alot ofnew faces, I am hearing he has pulled in a fair few of the contracts their that he thought were not warranted and has shaken things up a bit which can only be a good thing for coburg as they sit right in the heart of edfl territory. will make finals again in my opinion.
Braybrooke have hit the recruiting scene hard and have been active in chasing a few players but to my knowledge have yet to complete their off season searching but from the new faces I seen at their training enthusiasm will be up and will be alot better this year.
I cant be bothered going through the rest of the teams but I will do it another day here is my ladder as of now but i do reserve the right to readjust at round 5.

Yarra
Parkside
Glen ordan
Coburg
West Footscray
Caroline Springs
Lavo
Braybrooke
Albanvale
Nth Sunshine

I have not added the vales because I suppose it is not up to me to predict where we will finsh as I am in a lose lose situation, if I put us finishing top then I cop abuse but if I put us finishing lower then I cop abuse hahahaha I will let the Big Footy public predict our finish.

We have had a stella pre season so far and have certainly put some Km's in the legs...with a couple of additions to our list we hope to back up with another good year. We started back last Sunday with an 11Km run around little river ending at flinders peak at the top of the YOU YANGS....wow we that bad boy just does not know when to end, we had 49 do the run with another 12 unable due to restrictions from injury (lucky Bastards lol) just for all the time keepers out there I completed it in 1h & 7 minutes and I was middle of the road so we had a fair few boys climb that mudda pretty dam quickly....hahahaha

what are peoples thoughts???? I will try to give a better run down on each team as I have seen in a couple of weeks....

EVO out

Not sure what planet u r on EVO but harmes not in Tullas best 3 forwards let alone the comp. You must be his mum or dad. did not finish in the top 6 in tullas goalkicking and spent half of last year on the bench and didnt play the year before because of injury. so would need to improve dramatically this year to justify your raps on him, although he is dropping a fair bit in standard so maybe he might get a few kicks this year

just read some of your previous posts Full Fwd in which you reveal you are Ash Manning ( coach of Tulla )

Mmmmmm, interesting and unprofessional. Not the right forum for this but you obviously turn on blokes pretty quickly when they decide to leave.

Why unprofessional??? what did i say was not true? Plenty of coaches get on the forums. EVO said Harmesy is a great player??? i thought that was a bit of an ovestatement dont you? He is not in tullas best 3 fwds maybe not in their top 6 and he didnt finish top 6 in the goalkicking so saying he is in the best 3 fwds in the comp either means EVO is not sure what he is on about or the comp is shit. You let me know which one is true? Harmesy has plenty of good qualities but he needs to work on a few things too and i tried to help him with these so hopefully he does well this year. My only concern is that the comp doesnt think he is great player because he is not and he will tell u that. PS these other blokes that have gone to Yarraville from Tulla, how many of them played in Tulla's prelim final last year? now u know why the left!!! players come and go from footy clubs every year in every comp for a variety of reasons. The number 1 reason is and always will be because "the coach didnt give me a go". Thats ok but once u get onto a players 4th, 5th or 6th club in as many years maybe the player needs to blame themself because i doubt 5 coaches in a row got it wrong. plus Digger we both know u r a tulla person so u have probably heard me speak at quarter time so u know i shoot straight and unfortunately not all players like that. BUT my job is to win games and be competitive. Anyway good luck to all the WRFL sides this year i love reading their forum and sorry to you Digger for thinking i am unprofessional.

I am not here to speculate on other clubs and how they will finish as seriously how can anyone? With 12 weeks until round 1, 5 players could leave or better still 5 lads could move from the country and pick a club to play at and what a difference that would make?

All I will elaborate on is that I feel that as we finished last season with 7 wins and finished 7th on the ladder that we will improve on our last season with more wins... Don't need to give the why's or how's on here but we have lost some players and some very good players at that but we have also gained some very good players and will pick up (and lose) some more come round 1... So we shall let our footy do the talking but expect us to get 8+ wins and if all goes to plan we will be a top 5 side come end of August...

What I will speculate on and one of the biggest drivers of this season could and will be will be the subject of player payments, sponsorships, the increasing global economic crisis and the meeting of player payments...

As happend last season with some clubs around Victoria, sponsorship didn't come in as well as expected and some players and some coaches in accordance were not paid... This is becoming more and more common and will play a massive part in shaping the WRFL Division 2 ladder (not to mention other clubs in other leagues)....

It is all very well for clubs to 'offer' players money and sign contracts but with ever-increasing pressure on mortgages, businesses struggling and sponsors having the choice of paying their mortgage or keeping their business afloat.... If faced with the choice of either of these two struggling vs tipping in money for sponsorship, which do you think will be given a miss!!!

Sadly players are ever-increasingly expecting to be paid more and more money and that is and was all fine and good for a time but I think we may now be just about to explode and there will be many clubs unable to match what they have promised... If and when that happens this season, wait for some player exodus mid-season or if as some clubs do, stop paying after clearances close... Then see what happens... No-one club is immune from this...

Food for thought but hence why very hard to guess or speculate a ladder this far out from round 1!

All I can re-iterate is that this season promises to be one of the closest for some time and every game and little bit of % will count come round 18! Can't wait until round 1! Go Lavo!

dont want to get into this is in this forum, everyone is entilitled to their opinion. Evo is, and you are as am i. Doesnt mean anyone is right or wrong. As for your opinion i dont think its approriate as senior coach to share it in a public forum. Would u be committing like this if he was still at Tulla.

For the record, how many goals he kicked is irrelvent. Harmes played mostly up the ground on the wing from games i saw.

As for your saying it as it is, maybe thats a lack of people skills? (as i have heard you talkat breaks)

Anyone enough now on here lets agree to disagree, & get back to EDFL forum haha.

Sorry all for posting this here

FF... That is your opinion but I think forwards roles are more than kicking goals... I have about 6 hours of footage on harmsy from the last few years as i have tried to recruit him and I think he will be a top forward in this comp because he is not scared to work up and down the wings to create position and when he gets the ball he draws players, plays on regurarly and his skills are generally pretty good. In div2 there are not a great deal of half backs that could go with him they would get lost and if true that would put him in a top few forwards in div2.....
I believe that Wrfl div2 is of a good quality and will only get better this year from all reports. Edfl is not that far ahead as they think, player budgets are well ahead but good on them if that's what they want to do.
On that with Justin, clubs just have to get smarter with what they are doing... You only spend what you have in October and November that way you know you have and can deliver. This may mean sponsorship is set up differently so money's are available at years end... I do agree that some players are totaly blind to their own ability and performance history when it comes to $$$ but they just receive the money the clubs are the ones that pay it... So if they pay it without doing a fair bit of research on the player then can't pass to much blame.
Anyway everyone's back at training now what state have all their boys come back in???

Well said digger24,
I feel Tulla committee need to talk to their more senior players during the season to see how the coaching staff are going??
I was at the final and my OPINION Harmes was player from F/Forward leading up the ground what a waste.
As for the coaching staff they didn't seem to have a plan or he didn't seem to have a plan.
Sorry guy's going now back to EDFL forum

lets face it he's no jimmy condos.....;)

and ash(chest mark)manning......suck it up!!!!

I've played on Jimmy Condos a few times Weapons... And lets face it, there is no one out there that compares to him, not in the WRFL at least. Smart, quick, and ridiculously strong. Best player I've ever played on!

Obviously u have not played on me... I'm fat, slow, not overly strong but I can be quite humurous out on the field lol I might have to tell jimmy to start easing back on this ability thing he has going haha...

When do clearances open for both grades?
How are teams travelling at the moment few teams should have started training by now?
