Sanctuary Lakes had 43 senior aged players train last Wednesday with seven apologies. Has registered enough juniors for seven teams from under 9s to 16s. Has no dispensations from the league for fees apart from an extension on the due date. First game ever is a home game and will be holding a sponsor's function at the ground, has an under 9s game at half time of the seniors, has a jumping castle for the kids and has booked MIKE BRADY to perform between the reserves and senior games. Brady will sing Up There Cazaly, the Sharks theme song (Cheer, Cheer the Blue and the White), and the Australian National Anthem. All pretty good for a club which is only three and a half months old. Hurting a few other clubs with its professionalism already. One nearby club has even blocked Sanctuary Lakes from things like Twitter and Facebook. A couple of clubs got rid of coaches for juniors and the kids from those clubs haven followed their coaches to Sanctuary Lakes. It shows those kids had no loyalty to the clubs they used to play for. A lot of parents said they didn't even know who ran the seniors at their old clubs. Not so at Sanctuary Lakes where committee members are getting along to training nights for all grades. The club even has a former West Coast Eagles fitness coach on board who is helping the seniors and will be doing activities with the kids. Far more advanced than many would like the club to be.

What are you saying ?Kids got no loyalty but will when at the sharks?Leopards don't change there spots sounds like we should be all running scared, wait till the honeymoon period is over but good luck. :thumbsu: :D

Just let me clarify a couple of things you mentioned above.
Of the two coaches that moved, or in your words, were got rid of, one coach stated at the end the season last year he was no longer coaching that age group. This year he was offered an U9 gig but declined. The second one was one of two people who applied for a role and unfortunately missed out.
Both these coaches then proceeded to use their data base from last year and email and facebook kids to get them to come across. Chasing Under age footballers is not something that I would call 'professional'. I'm not sure I would be bragging that the players you have picked up 'show no loyalty'.
Oh and by the way, some clubs don't have different people running Seniors and Juniors, they have ONE committee that runs the whole club, both Seniors & Juniors and are their at training for both. Maybe those parents that didn't know who the committee members were are what is commonly known as 'Car Park Parents'

Hmmmm well that has me thinking a bit different about sanctuary lakes now.... You may have enough players on the track but let's face it must of your player are 18-23 yo and are small! Lets see how many good hits they can handle.

Lets be honest, the blokes on the clearance lists are not exactly reliable either. Lets see how professional they are come middle of the year and you have been belted every week.

Going to be hard to bond on a Thursday night with no bar, and compete in a league where finances driven by bar revenue is vital.

What will the junior parents think when those kids money is lining senior players pockets.

Kids money used to line senior player's pockets would happen at most clubs under one administration wouldn't it?

Sounds great Paulie. should be a great start to the year. you guys sound like your in the right track. Looking forward to Round 1.

They won't be that naive. It's common knowledge that junior fees are funnelled into senior payments and whatever is left goes back to the kids. Sat in the rooms of a club one year and overheard members of admin spewing that the mid season ball didnt make enough cash for senior payments. The next comment was "better tell all the parents who are on payment plans that they need to finalise their accounts or the kid doesn't play." Glad it wasn't my club but I'd be silly to think that it hasn't done the same at some point.

Not when those kids were associated with VAFA clubs, like westbourne and point cook

Judging by the numbers with clearances going to Sanctuary Lakes from Pt Cook and Westbourne, I don't think the parents care. Maybe the kids just want to play for their home suburb and are looking to play locally when they enter senior ranks and not all over Melbourne?

Why have they decided to operate without a bar? Sorry mate, out of the loop. Crazy decision.
Attached to a community centre. No liquor license. Have heard manor lakes in similar prediciment, but might have worked through it.

I've heard there will be a marquee bar there on game days aswell as a dry zone for family's.
Paulie maybe you can fill everyone in on what's happening?

So then they have already re-negged on their no alcohol stance that they advertised in the paper before Christmas.....

Interigity is fast diminishing by the day down there.

Suppose we shouldn't be surprised that they are liars, Waddell saying they have 45 to training every night....

Seen them train 8-10 times and there has been 20+ once....

I'm guessing I have missed something that has happened. Why has everyone got a problem against sanctuary lakes?

I guess some clubs in the area are a little peeved at how they have gone about 'recruiting' new players.
The intention of setting up a club in the area was for the 'overflow' of players. Like Newport, Point Cook, Caroline Springs & PEGS before them, the idea was that they start at the lower age groups and 'build' a club from the beginning. Clearances show that they have 'recruited' 50+ from PC (90% from just 3 age groups) and 16 from Old Westbourne (mainly one age group)

If clubs are looking after there juniors by setting up a great culture and hiring great coaches kids won't want to leave. I see nothing wrong with sanctuary lakes or what theyr doing. I look forward to heading down and being part of what will be a marquee occasion in round 1.

Seriously? You've been to training 8-10 times? I'm going to line you up an honorary membership. You're spending almost as much time there as me. But guess what? I know the facts and I don't suck sour grapes the way you do. We will have a bar and not once did our club say we wouldn't have one. Certain morons around the area might like to make out it was said, but I've never missed a meeting and I know it's never been said. Furthermore, no junior fees will line the senior pockets. Unlike other clubs in our vicinity, we are subsidising junior and senior fees and they all pay the same. And one other thing, not one player has been promised a cent. Every player has joined because they want to be part of something new and exciting. They want to play with their mates and they don't want to travel to the other side of town. But in 2014, they will be the first players we reward. I won't waste anymore time explaining our club, our newest Honorary Member ^^^^ will no doubt correct me. After all, he's been to training SO many times. Obviously not recently. There were 36 there again on Monday. Come on TT, just put yourself out of your misery and come and swim with Sharks. We all know you want to. Heck, I'll even get Mike Brady's autograph for you at our first game!

Someone somewhere is telling porky pies....... clearly states no bar. Believe that to have come from the top. So I do believe, that at least once your club, did say that.

There is a TAB at the brook across the road, guess what, I put my bets on, have a ciggy in the smokers lounge and they are first hand facts.... could you direct me to where the brook keep thier sour grapes? sound delicious!

I will accept my honorary membership, on the proviso, of what goes into the media, and out of the club to be honest.

At the end of the day, I only want to be associated with honest & good people.

Also hearing rumour about your annoited captain has already flown the coup and gone to a club in the EDFL.....

How humorous you talk about good and honest people and then finish your little comment with a rumour. But at least you've cleared one thing up ... we know where you get your 'facts' from .... the bottom of a glass at The Brook. From the 'smokers lounge' no less. First hand facts indeed. At a club with no association to the Sharks. I'd call that third or fourth hand at best.

Thanks for passing on the link to that story too. It allows me to point out your foolish murmurings with quoted fact.

The article says, "We are lucky that the old style football club where you have your own social rooms and your own bar, we don’t have that". It says we DONT have that ... meaning, we physically don't have a bar. Nowhere does it state we WONT have a bar as you've continually alluded and sprouted for the past couple of months. So it does not clearly "state(s) not bar, the interim president at the time said our club would not promote Thursday night and Saturday night drinking and it certainly won't be done within our clubrooms. We will, however, have a bar on Saturdays - a boutique bar as someone else rightly pointed out in a previous post.

So don't worry about the Honorary Membership - now I know your attendance at our training is from the 'smokers lounge', I have to withdraw the offer. We couldn't possibly promote such an unhealthy past time. But please do give us a wave as we drive past on our way to our preferred establishment, the Sanctuary Lakes Hotel. All the best for the season. We KNOW we'll enjoy ours. Cheers (there's something you should understand)!

Forgot one other thing ... we have not even appointed or 'annoited' (sic) a captain. But keep reading those local papers, we'll let you know when we do.
