How would joining the VFL make any difference? You just get top ups in that too. Mostly from the Vic country league. It's no different

The problem with the SANFL top ups is the that they are overly restrictive.

If a proper second tier competition is established, the quality of the role improves. Anyone who wants to play AFL wants to be near the system…. If you can’t play AFL play in the second tier…. Not some irrelevant state league.

The VFL will evolve again into the AFL reserves. It’s just matter of time.
