Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Mr Eagles does plan to actually do something about this at some point, but life is getting in the way :) (anyone want to join me for a 14km run in a fortnight?)

In relationship speak, that was "I need more space", "it's not you, it's me".

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

"Young Mero"?

Oh it's just an expression I like to use from time to time, like to an older Uncle or mate just to make them feel young at heart, just like me (women mistake this for imaturity...) :)

The reasons I don't use Gazza's are.
1. It is not mine, and I prefer to use my own stuff as much as possible, though I do use it in place of logos on the front page.
2. It's more realistic, but without the logos, it loses the reason for making a realistic one. Had I been allowed to use the AFL and sponsors logos, that one would have been perfect, However, I am not. So I stayed with the template I made.
3. It's only realistic for the printed jumpers which have come in since about 1995. So I would also have to create a realistic one for the canvas lace-ups, then the wool, then the acrylic jumpers.

Ok.

I'd join you but only if you can also do a bike ride for a similar distance. :thumbsu:

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Prompted by the State or Origin design thread I searched through AFL Photos and found these from Victoria v South Australia in the 1970s:

Thought it looked familiar and then found this:
South-Kit-PS-1979.gif

Are you sure its SA. The South Melbourne one was what the NFL(National Football League) had spare for when South Melbourne played South Fremantle.(I Think) Essentially its a clash strip. Id be more inclined to think the One worn against the big V would have been in a Vic v The Rest Game.

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

That's Kelvin Templeton in the first pic, and Phil Carman in the second.
Don't recognise anyone else.
Victoria is wearing the Big V patch, which came in in 1976, along with the Collingwood shorts the NFC (National Football Council) team is wearing.
Phil Carman is wearing Blue & Red boots, suggesting they were his old Norwood boots. He wore White in his first season, 1975.
The other thing is, before 1977 VFL players played for Victoria.
Carman broke his foot playing FOR Victoria, not against them.
So I would suggest this is after 1977, when State of Origin came into vogue.

However, it is also NOT 1979, as the AFC jumpers South used had a Black collar, and White triangle, suggesting those jumpers were an improvment on these jumper.
So I would think this is some sort of Promotional game between Victoria and The National Football Council, representing the 'Best of the Rest' in a State of Origin style format in either 1977 or 1978.

Young fella, you are a font of footy knowledge, fantastic stuff! :thumbsu:

Rep footy was kinda all over the shop back then. You had the NFC, NFL, AFNC ... organising these things like the Escort Cup, Night Series, etc. A far cry from the ultra-efficiency we have today.

Thanks.

Descriptions from AFL Photos are:

Kelvin Templeton for Victoria in action during the 1970's VFL State of Origin match between Victoria and South Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Phil Carman of South Australia takes a kick during the 1970's VFL State of Origin match between Victoria and South Australia.

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Well, it is not South Australia, that's for sure.
But then, they're wrong with a few of their descriptions on that site.
I would think they've just guessed that because Phil Carman is in one of the pics. Carman played SoO once for SA in 1980, not the 70s.
(And he grew up in Edenhope Victoria before going to Norwood in 1970.)
He did also play for SA when it was the SANFL, and that was 1970.

How old are you?

If some kid called an older person 'young fella' it's not only disrespectful, it's patronising. I would knock them the **** out.

Kids these days.

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Yeah, what a patronising little ****. Even if you're 17 talking to a 14 year old, it's highly rude and patronising. Go **** yourself mate!
