Re: www.footyjumpers.com

I'd prefer to take the Cup jockeys off than add the International Rules.
I also won't be adding A-League, Australian Baseball or the jumpers from the Exhibition game at the 1956 Olympics.

Don't worry about A-League, Gibbsy and I and the others have got that sorted :thumbsu:

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

What were the Exhibition games at '56 Olympics?

Wikipedia is your friend.

The two teams wore long-sleeved green and white jumpers*, like this:

Lindsay Gaze appeared in the Olympics for the first time in footy rather than basketball - he was playing for Prahran in the VFA at the time and got selected. The match was scheduled towards the end of the Games, when the track wasn't needed (and much of it removed, no doubt in time for the cricket season), BUT the players still had to negotiate around the Olympic flagpole inside the field!

*EDIT: One team wore white, the other team wore green.

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

My site, Pride In The Jersey is a Gaelic football rip-off of Mero's site, I'd hope to include International Rules jerseys (Australia and Ireland) fairly soon.

A mixture of a failure to find pics from the 1990 tests, the awfulness of Ireland's kits and laziness have prevented me putting them up so far but they might be done in time for this year's series

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Would love the international rules jerseys and the vic/dreamteam guernseys to be added but hey, it is Mero's site afterall :thumbsu: Anything officially used by a club should be used imo. Whether that be a guernsey in an exhibition match (i.e. Kaspersky cup) or secondary logo (i.e. centenary logos). But once again, Mero's site, Mero's decisions :thumbsu:

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Denis' site is an excellent resource.
And I am happy to provide whatever help he needs in doing the Intl Rules jumpers.
As for me, I never liked the series, and never regarded it as much more than an opportunity for AFL Officials to get a free overseas holiday.

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

I love it, one of my favourite events on the footy calendar. Nice change and I reckon it would be damn fun to play too :)

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

haha Yellowbellies all the way!!! Our 93-year All-Ireland Football drought is bound to end soon! :D

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

I think I have a couple of old Wexford shirts hanging around somewhere. A friend of mine lived over there for a while and he sent me them for my birthday (best present I got that year :D)

Since then I've been following them to a degree. Because they're amateurs the game's so different over there and these people just walk into work on a Monday morning like any other guy after playing in front of thousands on the weekend. The atmosphere at the grounds is just fantastic, especially around the diehards in the standing room.

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

yeah, you'll a lot of counties have a specialty in one game. Such as Wexford being pretty good at hurling whilst not winning a Football All-Ireland for 90 odd years.

Comes down to county culture really.

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Same here (wish there was a 4 Leaf Clover smilie to put here...)

Google images ;)

A more ontopic suggestion for Mero now. Have you ever considered putting umpires tops/uniforms on the site? Would certainly add another element to the site.

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Mero was on ebay tonight and came across a 1930's footy card
Of north melbourne. The guy in the photo is wearing a north jumper but its diifferent to any on your website. Its nmf and a big C that goes around the outside of nmf odd...
