Re: www.footyjumpers.com

We wore the 100 year centenary badge in 1985 on the state jumper. The photo I have it is only just visible and when I photo it it doesnt show up. My scanner is down ATM. Does anyone have the 86 State of Origin WA v VIc budget? Or perhaps a better image anywhere?. I could get an example of the centenary logo if that helps?

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Still a bit different mate. Either Mero's design is slightly wrong or they did have a slightly different jumper

Yep, they definitely look different.

1) The jumper in the photo has a button-up collar, whereas Mero's doesn't
2) The N, M and F aren't connected to the large C in the photo; Mero's doesn't
3) The logo looks a lot larger in the photo

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

@That NM design.

I would say every jumper looked different. A variation on a very similar theme. Jumpers weren't mass produced by perfectionist machines obviously. I'm sure the sizes could have differed, and the logo changing player by player.

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

The North logo above was done from a photo I took of a 1924 jumper in the North offices before they moved out of Arden St.
I then coped it to Illustrator and traced the logo from that jumper.
Silent is correct when he states every jumper would have been different.
I might re-visit it and make it bigger through, because looking at that VFA uniform, it probably is a little small on the jumper.
The pic, however, is on my external hard drive that died, so I don't have access to it.

The North 1908 jumper was worn after North merged with West Melbourne, who wore Red & White.
They thought they were getting a spot in the VFL, which was taken by University.

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Well, the logical thing was to wear the Centrals stripes, but no, they had to wear that.

Are you seriously talking about logic in 1908? Like you would have any clue about the difficulties in sourcing certain materials? This is the same time period where everyone wore blue shorts as it was all that was available.

Logic that applies now, didn't always apply. After all, at one stage it was logical to believe the Earth was flat.

In certain time periods there were limitations on what you could and couldn't design.

What about my idea for umpires uniforms Mero? What was your thoughts on that?

I'm pretty sure this question was asked a few pages back and he said he wasn't going to do umpire uniforms.

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Ahk, fair enough. Have followed this whole thread but don't recall anyone asking that. My apologies. Whether you like it or not though, they're as big a part of our game as the players really.

Such blasfimy can get you carded ;)

Re: www.footyjumpers.com

Just realised that sounded really bad  What I meant was from a kit/design POV they feature in every single game, the teams only feature in 1/8 of the games

hahahaha, yeah. I wouldn't mind an umpires section, showing how the kits have evolved.
