We had no PS players last night so did our first Xbox/PC cross platform raid in Destiny using Discord. It was a massive success and the whole thing was seamless. Even the Xbox players were commenting that the comms were crystal clear and our server was only level 1. We've since boosted our clan server to level 2. It was great being able to chat while not being in a fireteam together. For those with all their friends within a single ecosystem this might not be exciting at all which is understandable. Though for anyone into the ever increasing cross platform games or want to be able to just chill while gaming with friends and family who are on another platform it's really great. For a game like Destiny it's bringing down all platform barriers. Once PS finally has Discord then platforms will no longer exist.

I’m a recent Discord convert and it’s excellent, we actually use it even when on the same platform as it’s way better!

It’s also great for just chatting when playing different games.

What does level 1 and 2 mean in discord?

So you can boost server with irl monies. For small servers the benefits might not be worth it, but for something like a large active clan there is some value. What happens is you boost a server and it takes X-amount of boosts to go up a level. You can buy as many boosts as you want but the idea is for example if anyone feels invested in their clan enough they don't mind chipping in a few bucks a month and everyone shares the cost. If you have a lot of members boosting it will only take one boost each to level it up. Discord has a premium subscription (like most things now) on top of the free account called Nitro. Nitro comes with two free server boosts which is cheaper than two boosts alone so that's what most of us have done as it's very unlikely any of us are interested in boosting another server.

This is an example of our level 2 perks. The better audio quality is nice (though even the basic Discord communication quality is better than any in game chat already) and for someone like me who uses an ultrawide resolution and HDR my screen shots are nearly 30mb so I've always had to edit them to upload. Now I don't have to worry about it. None of these things are important at all, but my clan are all pretty good e-buds so we don't mind the few dollars to make it better for everyone else.

Reports already that the "improved" elite 2 controllers still have issues with soft presses. Think the internal design just needs a complete overhaul and release a version 3. Ive been conditioned to the nice size and weight and don't want to go back to the standard versions

we need an official xbox controller with back paddles/ back buttons.
If you are interested in a controller with back paddles and costs significantly more than a regular controller despite having an extremely shit build quality, I have the controller for you.

New released games bought thru the Store, usually there are also discounts like 10% off with EA Play and whatnot

Gamepass is more for old, older, or recently released games ... can get them for free, or buy them with a big discounted price.

There are SOME games that get released for free via GamePass subscription at the time they are released at JB/EB etc, but it's usually Microsoft owned game studios that do it.

Microsoft Xbox has 23 studios and will own Activision Blizzard next year, they should be pumping out games quarterly.
