what is the go with the league constantly changing the netball finals times, venues and dates:mad: dont they think ppl actually may have work or social commitments that have already been aranged around the previous details given! Amateurish!!!

They fixed the issue at Yarra Glen with that massive tree that hangs over the ground near the visitors box?

Was fixed over 18 months ago.

Was anyone at the finals at Yarra Glen last Saterday? Was just looking for some feedback, good or bad on your experiences.
The ground was in good condition, rooms are ok, but no salad rolls which is a bit disapointing for people that are a little chubby or in my case a little obese:D

1st Division Finals - Seniors
Monbulk v Woori Yallock (Qualifying Final)
Woori Yallock 14.9.93 defeated Monbulk 13.11.89. Monbulk started well and finished well but it was Woori’s 4 goals in the second quarter followed by another 4 goals in the 3rd as apposed to Monbulks 1 goal in the second and 2 goals in the third that won the game for Woori. Woori went into half time just 1 goal ahead and turned that into a 21 point lead at the last change. Woori started the better in the final term and stretched their lead early but all of a sudden Monbulk sparked into action. Monbulk started to get the loose man going and came back at Woori in a hurry. Monbulk kicked the last goal of the game to bridge the gap to 4 points but with only 2 seconds on the clock Woori Yallock held on to win in what was great game of footy for the crowd to witness and promises a fantastic finals series. Woori Yallock’s best: Tim Willliamson, Michael Riseley and Danny Ryan. Monbulk’s best: Shannon Koole, Dean Cleven and Jason Fraser.

Mount Evelyn v Healesville (Elimination Final)
Mt Evelyn 14.14.98 defeated Healesville 10.10.70. A great spectacle put on by these 2 sides with nothing in it right into the final quarter. With the game being played in trying windy conditions it was a real credit to the teams that they put on game as high class as this was. Mt Evelyn’s form coming into finals has been patchy at best but they saved their best form for the last quarter. The Mounters held just a 3 point lead going into the final term and then finished off the day full of run kicking 6.3 to Healesville’s 2.2 to finish the day in convincing fashion and will take plenty of confidence going into next weeks game. Healesville would be disappointed to have bowed out in the first week of finals but they certainly weren’t disgraced and will be looking forward to improving even further in 2010. Mt. Evelyn will now take on Monbulk next week to see if they can go one step deeper into the finals. Mt Evelyn’s best: Jarrad Barden, Christopher Tesoriero and Shaun Jones. Healesville’s best: Brad Wilkinson, Clint Barclay and Jye Conrau.

Reserves
Monbulk v Healesville (Qualifying Final)

Monbulk 11.7.73 defeated Healesville 6.15.51. This wasn’t a pretty game to watch but the attack and the pressure put on by both sides was first class. Healesville had their chances but a wasteful 1.6 first quarter followed a 2.5 second quarter hurt them by the final siren. Monbulk on the other hand had kicked just 4.2 by half time but Healesville’s 3.11 kept Monbulk right in the game. Monbulk’s third term was terrific as they slowly got on tops of the Bloods with a 5 goal to 2 third term to take a 15 point lead. Monbulk kicked 2 goals to 1 in the last quarter to win by 22 points and leave Healesville lamenting their inaccuracy in front of goal that cost them dearly. Monbulk’s best: Craig Broekhof, Damian Smethurst and Justin Creed. Healesville’s best: Ashley Taylor, Thomas Campbell and Cameron Arnott.

Gembrook Cockatoo v Mount Evelyn (Elimination Final)
Gembrook Cockatoo 9.6.60 defeated Mount Evelyn 2.7.19. Unfortunately wet and windy conditions didn’t help this game reach any great heights. There were only 4 goals kicked up to half time, Gemrbook with 3 and Mount Evelyn with 1. Gembrook always seemed to be that little slicker and they proved that in the 3rd term with 3 goals and holding Mount Evelyn to just 2 behinds. Gembrook continued that form into the last quarter with another 3 goals to the Mounter’s 1 to win comfortably by the final siren. Gembrook’s best: Eamon Tomlin, Alex Moore and Maxwell Croaker. Mount Evelyn’s best: Todd Black, Sean Hajdu and Scott Piggott.

2nd Division Finals - Seniors
Olinda Ferny Creek v Kinglake (2nd Semi Final)
Olinda Ferny Creek 17.15.117 defeated Kinglake 14.10.94. These sides have been the best 2 sides all year and the skills on display showed why. Olinda got off to a flying start which proved to be the difference in the end. Olinda kicked 7.5 to 4.1 in the opening quarter to take a 22 point lead. By the end of the day Olinda only increased that lead by 1 point to win by 23 points. The last 3 quarters was a real arm wrestle with Kinglake looking threatening at times but Olinda answering every challenge to maintain their lead right to the final siren. Olinda now march through to the Grand Final as Kinglake take on Seville for the 2nd time in 3 weeks to see who will earn the right to play off in the big one. Olinda’s best: Glenn Stevens, Dylan Troutman and Andrew Evans. Kinglake’s best: Mathew Thomas, Alexander Carpenter and Glenn Murphy.

Seville v Yarra Junction (1st Semi Final)
Seville 13.15.93 defeated Yarra Junction 12.9.81. Unfortunately the heroics of Junction’s Tyson Wheeler kicking 7 of his teams 12 goals wasn’t enough to secure them victory. Seville seemed to have the edge all day and held a slight lead that Junction just couldn’t get ahead of. At quarter time it was Seville by 9 points, half time Seville by 10 points, 3 quarter time Seville still by 10 points. This was close all day and a good game to watch but it always looked like it was going to be Seville’s day even though the scoreboard indicates it could have gone either way. Junction now will put their feet up and look toward 2010 as Seville prepares to take on Kinglake with the victor progressing to the Grand Final. Seville’s best: Mark Holly, Aaron Abbruzzese and Dean Troyahn. Yarra Junction’s best: Daniel Edwards, Travis Selby and Travis Barton.

Reserves
Olinda Ferny Creek v Yarra Glen (2nd Semi Final)

Olinda Ferny Creek 8.8.56 defeated Yarra Glen 2.9.21. Yarra Glen would have been happy to keep Olinda to its second lowest score of the season, (the previous being 4.10 way back in round 1) unfortunately Yarra Glen also kicked one of its lowest scores of the season and couldn’t put scoreboard pressure on when they had the chance. This was a bruising affair with both sides finding it impossible to gain an easy kick. At 3 quarter time Yarra Glen had had 1 more scoring shot than Olinda but still trailed by 15 points. Yarra Glen had their chances to be closer at 3 quarter time but a wasteful 1.5 in the 3rd cost them any chance they may have had kicking into a breeze in the last. Olinda kicked away in the last with a 3 goal term and will be thankful for the week off as they prepare for the Grand Final. Yarra Glen now take on Kinglake for the 3rd time in 5 weeks and should be confident having accounted for them in those 3 games. It will be interesting to see how Yarra Glen back up in what was one of the most bruising encounters for the year. Olinda’s best: Brent Green, Frank, Maaskant and Russell Sloan. Yarra Glen’s best: Rick Young, Matthew Culhane, and Jimmy Marks.

Kinglake v Seville (1st Semi Final)

Kinglake 13.13.91 defeated Seville 7.6.48. Seville started the better of the 2 sides and held a 10 point lead at the first change but after that it was all Kinglake. The Lakers booted 5 goals to 1 in the 2nd term to take a 15 point lead into half time. Another 5 goal to 1 third term from Kinglake had them in complete control as they went into the last quarter with a 37 point lead. Seville never looked like getting back into the match as Kinglake stretched their lead even further in the final term to win by an impressive 43 points. Seville will now rest up over the summer months as Kinglake prepare to take on Yarra Glen in what should be a cracking match. Kinglake’s best: Shaun McMahon, Matthew Howard and Ben Collins. Seville’s best: Daniel Long, Andrew Lawrence and Dean Cerere.

Under 18’s
Olinda Ferny Creek v Seville (2nd Semi Final)

Olinda Ferny Creek 14.11.95 defeated Seville 5.8.38. Olinda never looked in trouble as they held Seville to just the 1 goal in the first half as they kicked 7. Olinda’s Blake Walter has been in superb form all year in front of goal and continued that form adding another 9 goals to his tally. Seville came out after half time and did throw everything at Olinda but Olinda had all the answers. It was a reasonably even 2nd half with Olinda kicking 7 goals to Seville’s 4. Olinda certainly look the team to beat and whoever meets them in the Grand Final will have to be at their absolute best to have any chance of knocking off this impressive unit. Olinda’s best: Owen Raszkiewics, Blake Walter and Tom Dawson. Seville’s best: Kevin Tormey, Tommy Estcourt and Brayden Schembri.

Emerald v Powelltown (1st Semi Final)
Emerald 14.8.92 defeated Powelltown 11.7.73. A very entertaining game, only 3 points separated the teams at half time with Powelltown holding the slight margin. Emerald looked a little sharper in the 3rd term and it showed on the scoreboard as they managed to kick 4 goals to Powelltowns 2 to take a 10 point lead into the final quarter. Emerald finished the day well with another 4 goal to 2 quarter to win by a hard fought 19 points. Powelltown have only had their 18’s up and running for a couple of years and they should be proud of how far they have come in just a short amount of time, their future does look bright. Emerald goes 1 step deeper into finals and their best footy can worry anyone. Emerald’s best: Matthew Livermore, Reece Pepi and Tyler Sidwell. Powelltown’s best: Daniel Hadjer, Dean Roy and Nathan Moody.

YVMDFL Netball Wrap - 29th and 30th August

DIVISION ONE
Elimination Final
Finals kicked off this week for Division one, with a fantastic game between Woori Yallock and Warburton Millgrove. Played at Gembrook, the atmosphere was tense, as the whistle blew to commence the game. Woori Yallock started out strong; however Warburton Millgrove weren’t going to let them get away with much. Goal for goal was the trend, as defenders worked overtime to prevent scoring. The final score read Woori Yallock 33, Warburton Millgrove 32. Woori played good, with all their team working well, however they will need to lift there game if they want to make it to the grand final. Alison Oldfield received best on court. For Warburton, Adele Collard shot 19 goals, and Melanie Hancock shot 13 goals. This game was the last for Warburton, and Woori Yallock will go on, to play against Upwey Tecoma next week.

Qualifying Final
Upwey Tecoma played against Wandin for the Qualifying Final, also held at Gembrook. Wandin showed good play this week, deserving of the win that they fought for. Defeating Tecoma by 10 goals, (Wandin 46, Tecoma 36) they will go on to play against Mount Evelyn. The game was quite well paced, and the teams had definite strategies in place, to get them what they wanted. Unfortunately there is only ever one winner. For Wandin, Melissa Gardner shot an impressive 31 goals, Courtney McDonald shot 8 goals, and Sharmini – Jane Philp shot 7 goals. For Upwey, Kiera Rawlings shot 23 goals, Michelle Tomlinson shot 9, and Emma Hedge shot 4 goals. Upwey now has a second chance, as they will play against Woori Yallock this week.

DIVISION TWO

First Semi Final
Emerald has had a bumper season this week, showing fantastic skills consistently throughout the season. Thornton has had a bit of an up and down season, with new players, and a new coach. This week, also at Gembrook, Thornton took on Emerald for the chance to continue on in the finals fight. Emerald walked away with the win, 35 goals to 24. Thornton worked hard, and had some good passages of play, however Emerald were in a mind set that nothing was going to get in the way. Kim Walker shot 18 goals, and Beverley White shot 17 goals. Thornton defence was working overtime to stop the goalers from doing their job. Louise Chapple shot 14 goals for Thornton, and Nikki Davison shot 10 goals. These two girls worked well together. This means the end of the season for Thornton, however Emerald will go on to play Yea this week.

Second Semi Final

Powelltown played against Yea this week, for the Semi final. Powelltown have had incredible skills this season, and by this show of power, that will remain the same right through to the end. Winning comfortably, by 24 goals, Powelltown are now in the Grand Final. Samantha Hansen shot 31 goals, and Stephanie Broadway shot 24 goals. The Yea defenders had a real struggle trying to keep these girls at bay, as they tried all the defensive tactics known. However it wasn’t enough in the end. For Yea, Rhiannon Aldous shot 19 goals, and Cindy Hayes shot 12. Powelltown turned the ball over quite regularly, making it difficult for the Yea shooters to have a real opportunity. Yea will now play against Emerald.

The Division One Netball A Elimination Final is being replayed on Saturday at Alexandra. The winner will play Upwey at Gembrook on Sunday.

Dear Club Members

Re:
Woori Yallock v Warburton Millgrove Division 1 A Grade Elimination final played on Saturday Aug 29 @ Gembrook
and
Protest letter from Warburton Millgrove Football Club dd 31/8/09 & response from Woori Yallock Football Club dd 01/09/09.

After careful consideration, the YVMDFL Board has declared the elimination match between Woori Yallock and Warburton Millgrove in Division One A Grade played on Saturday August 29 as a ‘no match’.

This determination was based on a range of advice and information provided from the clubs concerned, the netball umpires involved, Netball Victoria staff, senior Netball Victoria Umpires and other Senior Umpiring Staff.

The Laws of Netball & the YVMDFL Football & Netball Handbook were carefully considered.

The YVMDFL Board has determined that this match is to be replayed on Saturday September 5th at Alexandra Football Ground @ 1.30pm.

The winner of this match is then scheduled to play Upwey Tecoma at Gembrook Football Ground on Sunday September 6th @ 11.25am.

I understand that this issue has been difficult and I thank everyone for their patience & contribution. Please note that YVMDFL / YRNC By Law 8.2.5 will not apply in this instance (Re. not playing two finals on the same weekend).

Good luck to both teams this weekend.

Yours Sincerely

STEPHEN WALTER
CEO

Yea FNC News.

This Sunday (6/9/09) sees the A grade netballers play in the Preliminary Final against Emerald. The last time these sides met in the qualifying final, Yea defeated Emerald by 3 goals in a very tightly contested game...

Also on Sunday, the Yea Junior Footballers (under 12's) play in the GRAND FINAL against Euroa. The junior footballers are looking at reversing the result from the last time these sides met, to make it a memorable win for the Tigers.

GOOD LUCK to both the netball and football teams...
Lets get out in force to show our support for the mighty Yea Tigers.

Just another reason why the game shouldn't be played there.

Warby is the best venue for finals we have. I know parking stinks but it's worth it. Great atmosphere on the weekend with the crowd getting right into it - literally!!!

Hearing rumours Silvan's members voted unanimously to leave the YVMDFL for the EFL in the past few days - anyone from Silvan care to shed some light on the situation? And if so, why they believe its the right move? Expecting to be in divi 2 in 2011 and trying to avoid the travel?

The only way they would be in a Division 2 is if they stay with YVMDFL.

Why would the EFL want them, no under18's, very poor playing list (will get worse with final departures), and no money.

Would have to start in Div 4, and would finish out of finals with what they have got - so cannot see how they would expect to be in Div 2 in 2011. Must beleive in the tooth fairy

That's what I was saying - are they trying to get in early & avoid the travel factor of divi 2 YVMDFL by moving into divi 4 EFL?

I was .....disappointed.... to find that much of Silvan's motive to move was based on their perception that "no-one liked them"....??? Tall poppies have always copped such flack; most just wear it as a badge of honour! Silvan also had a lot of support amongst other clubs. Why they chose to listen only to negative comments and then churlishly take their ball and go home is just beyond me. Apart from seeming a tad immature, their departure is an insult - particularly to the league Board and those others who have shown support for them.
