20. Carlton - Dale Thomas - Outside player who oozes class both on the ball and up forward. Can kick some truly spectacular goals and has the ability to dominate games.

Thoughts?

Wouldnt call Thomas an outside, actually has the rare ability like Swallow too play an outside/inside role. Thomas loves the rough stuff and doesnt hesitate too lay a strong tackle or dish out a bump but at the same time can use his pace and clean skills on the outside too break a game open. #20 is a bit late will go Top 15 for sure agree with you that his pace, class and his freakish ability to kick impossible goals like Akermanis, will be a match winner and big game player in the AFL.

1. Carlton - Marc Murphy
Is pretty much a automatic selection here as Carlton flagged their intentions early when they flew him down to Melbourne and begged him to nominate. Surely they didn't do this and expect him to last till 4?

2. Collingwood - Xavier Ellis
Collingwood needs pace and class, this kid has both in spades. While he is a twig, their will be doubt over whether he can put on the weight and how it will effect his game (ie. Goddard) I think he is too go to pass up and the Pies will grab him.

3. Hawthorn - Josh Kennedy
With Roughead starring at CHB last season and the loss of Jon Hay, It looks like Roughead will stay there for a while. Hawks desperately need a CHF and Franklin isn't the man. Will opt for Kennedy because he is a safer bet and is a lot more aggressive than Clark and Ryder.

4. Carlton - Patrick Ryder
Where he will play is the main question everyones asking, too short to play ruck, doesn't get enough of the ball to play as a tall midfielder and isn't a pack marker. But 195cm Aboriginal kids are like St. Kilda premierships.. quite rare! Could be anything and is too good to pass up.. Blues will not be able to help themselves.

5. Collingwood - Shannon Hurn
Pies will continue to rebuild their midfield with Hurn. May not have the pace or Ellis, but just wait till he does a pre season untill people judge his fitness.
Will be a Hodge type player and a very valuable asset to any team. Will go straight into the starting 22 at the Pies in 2006.

6. Hawthorn - Mitchell Clark
Clark can play as a resting forward and relief ruckman, especially if he grows a couple of cm's in the next year. The Hawks will be confident he will be a Nathan Thompson sort of player minus the depression. Will be a very handy pick up.

7. Essendon - Andrew Swallow
Hard to see which way the Dons will go, but I have a feeling they will go with an injection of pace into their ageing engine room. it could be either one of Oakley-Nicholls, Varoe, Thomas or even Jones but I think the best option and the one Sheedy will like the most is Swallow.

8. Richmond - Beau Dowler
Need a backup plan when Richo retires and the realise Simmonds is a hack. Dowler, while not an angry player, will give them something Tiger fans are craving.. Accuracy in front of goal! Will be a handy pickup.

9. Brisbane - Austin Lucy
Don't have many up and coming defensive KPP and Lucy is a Queensland boy which makes the decision quite easy for them. Lucy will be a handy addition and should take over from Michael or Leppitch when they retire!

10. Fremantle - Nathan Jones
Solid player who racks up plenty of the ball. Is a good chance to go higher up depending on clubs veiws and recruiting policies. Will be a great inclusion to the midfield, needed or not, the Dockers could not god past Jones.. Or could they??

11. Western Bulldogs - Cleve Hughes

12. Melbourne - Richard Douglas

13. West Coast - Scott Pendelbury

14. Hawthorn - Jarryd Oakley-Nicholls

15. Geelong - Shaun Higgins

16. Adelaide - Travis Varcoe

17. Adelaide - Darren Pfeiffer

18. Hawthorn - Dale Thomas

19. Essendon - Grant Birchall

20. Carlton - Matthew Spangher

OK lets have some fun with this
Pick 1. Carlton - Shannon Hurn - they end up picking the best player
Pick 2. Collingwood - Murphy - an all round footballer with speed they just couldn't refuse.
Pick 3. Hawthorn - Beau Dowler - despite trotting out the usual line of best talent they go for who they think is the best contested marking key forward.
Pick 4. Carlton - Richard Douglas - carton can not resist him after his impressive showing at draft camp. Think of taking lucy but take a punt on him being available later.
Pick 5. Collingwood - Andrew Swallow - again collingwood just cant refuse the tough in and under as well as outside capabilities with the mix of pace
Pick 6. Hawthorn - Mitchell Clarke - hawks are convinced he has been foxing in an attempt to stay in perth and like the idea he could help out in ruck as well
Pick 7. Essendon - Darren Pfeiffer - after all they love south australians and he is a footballer who sheeds thinks could play anywhere
Pick 8. Richmond - Luke McEntee - can not resist what is a mobile ruckman to help with clearances
Pick 9. Brisbane - Austin Lucy - they pick who they think is the best available defender
Pick 10. Fremantle - Josh Kennedy - cant help but go for another athletic tall player.

Yes I know this is way off of consensus but can show how if clubs pick out of the ord how all of a sudden other clubs change who they are going to pick.

That would be a strange if not stupid pick by the crows. He would play the same role as burton and there is not enough room for two of them on the same field.

However if for some reason he fell to 30 odd one would have to pick him even if one couldn't see him fitting into team structure speed and skill can only be ignored so long.

Clearly pete stanley wouldve been top 10 if he had not broken his collar bone in 4 places during the year. Absolute freak!!!! The Wizard

2. Ellis - quick mid, magpie dream
3. Hurn - clarkson will pick the centrals boy. If he picks somone else he won't get hurn at all coz pies will pass over jones at 5 for him. Still a chance for a good tall at 6.
4. Kennedy - Safest bet for a kpp. Could help brendan down that end of the park
5. Jones - Pies are white hot on this guy. With the clokes coming thru why take another good tall early??
6. Ryder - would be sacreligious top pass him at this stage. Next adam goodes.
7. Clarke - Brings good versatility. Would fix a few nagging problems
8. Dowler - Richo support.
9. Lucy - why let him leave home????
10. Oakley-Nicholls - Dockers need to add depth to a lack lustre midfield that is keeping out of finals footy.

Thoughts?

Geez, that is very 'out there'. Having said that, the general perceived predictions are always wrong on here so you may be around the mark. Cannot see McEntree going at 8 though. Also, it is highly doubtful that Kennedy would make it to 10 IMO.
I suppose nobody really knows until draft day.

5. Jones - Pies are white hot on this guy. With the clokes coming thru why take another good tall early??

who does this guy play for. is this jones form stingrays cause if it is he is that tall?

Nathan Jones from the Dandenong Stingrays. 178cm onballer. Lacks pace and scope for improvement, but is as fit as an ox, breaks tackles, runs the lines and racks up the football all day long. Good kick but lacks depth.

IMO 10-15, but his Championship form + TAC Cup Grand Final will probably see him taken in the top 8 or 9.
