I think this the winning ticket, boys!

kind regards,

So I've just been playing around on SCP's Team Picker. The team in Red is the team I made yesterday, the team in Green is today's team. Thoughts? I'm sure i'll tamper (or start again), but I just wanted to see what people think. Particularly the decision to drop Gaz and the potentially destructive (for me) forward line.

DEF: A.Walker, J.McVeigh, S.Mitchell, Z.Tuohy, R.Shaw, K.Kolodjashnij

No offence, but I'd love to come up against either side in a League match. 4 premo's/4 rookie starting midfiled 8 isn't going to get the job done, especially without Gaz.Essentially you are relying too much on Boak & Griffen as your only POD's in your mids.

PS T Walker will miss at least the first 6 rounds.

PPS am not a fan of either R Shaw or Fasolo for SC. Don't believe either will be relevant IMHO.

None taken, like I said, i'm just playing around. I am making a conscious effort to not go for a conventional team. Motlop, Kelly, Boak and Tuohy won't get looked at by majority of SC players, just trying something different.

There's still a long road ahead but I can tell I'm going to struggle in a few certain spots all preseason (like M3). And I think I'm struggling for PODs at this stage Any suggestions?

DEF: J.Bartel, J.McVeigh, S.Mitchell, M.Suckling, K.Kolodjashnij, L.McDonald, (M.Fuller, T.Cutler)
MID: G.Ablett, S.Pendlebury, R.Griffen, N.Fyfe, D.Beams, J.Martin, V.Michie, L.Dunstan, (A.Morabito, L.Taylor)
RUCK: B.Grundy, A.Sandilands, (D.Currie, T.Nankervis)
FWD: P.Dangerfield, D.Martin, C.Wingard, M.Clark, J.Hogan, A.Fasolo, (M.Honeychurch, D.Garlett)

I'm pretty uncertain on Grundy and Sandilands but I can't afford to go any more expensive. Besides, if I could survive Sam Jacobs all of last season this couldn't be any worse :p

I'm going to be very tempted to leave Gaz out because having him and Pendles leaves me a little bit strained for cash. But I don't think you can go wrong with the little master. Even if he does fall in price over the season it is much safer to have him, than not to have him. I'm certainly going to be watching blokes like Claye Beams very closely over the preseason.

Tuohy's one of my favourite players, but his ceiling in SC is 65-75 tops. Doesn't rack up enough disposals playing the position he does (HB/BP )and need to rely on him kicking a long bomb or 2 for a decent SC score more often than not. If Giles is named Rd1 srsly consider as I think he has a better SC game at half the price.

I'm banking on Tuohy having a breakout year!

He had a breakout year last year. Will get better still, but can't see it reflecting on his SC scores enough to have him in my team. Anyway, good luck if you decide to run with the mad Irishman.

I'm talking break out, AA potential breakout.

This is my team V 1.1 with $82,000 remaining.

As with most years, most of the rookies are not set in concrete and most of this team will change based on their pre season form.

Critique please...

I like it, just feel it needs another super premo mid (120+ ave) maybe replace Libba. Also, is Dan Menzel going to be back for Rd1?

Nope he won't. Also I would get rid of Longer for a cheaper option and use that extra 160k plus your 80k to get another premo mid as Gingy suggested. Other than that I like the team. Chappy is a risk, but just track how he goes over the preseason, same with Bock. Backline is looking very standard, I think majority of people will have something very similar.

Well, being an avid bulldogs supporter, Libba's second half of the year has make me make him a definite lock. An average of 117.6 after round 10 last year, and another year under his belt, I'm expecting 120+.

And Dan Menzel is still speculative as I don't think he will be returning until later in the year but I just put him in as a bit of a conversation starter, quite like Morobito.

Thanks for the reply champ. As I see it, Rhys Stanley is not a ruck man, Tom Lee is not a ruck man and I don't really rate Tom Hickey so therefore, that is my justification for Longer. I don't see him playing/scoring much but unless Currie or Lobb (or another rookie bobs up) get games, I may keep him.

Chapman is a concern for me but can be easily swapped
Longer on the Bench I'm not keen on
Kennedy and Libba will both be fairly unique

good luck

Heres my latest effort!

Really liking this team as I think its well balanced and has alot of good bargains and midpricers as well as guns.

Only thing I can't decide is if I should start Spuddy or Dixon. Dixon probably helps my structure more being DPP.

Taking a risk by not starting Bartel, Mitchell, Walker and McVeigh in the backline but I think Grimes, Waters, Swallow and Suckling can do a similar job, are alot cheaper and I can always grab 2 or 3 of Bartel, Mitchell, Walker and McVeigh as upgrade targets later on.

No D.Beams but it suits my bye struture more, same with not having M.Murphy either. Going Rockcliff who I hope will be a bit unique. :thumbsu:

Not going to start with Dangerfield as I think he is too expensive and will inevitably drop in price. Upgrade target for me.

Whats everyone think?

Mate, you're going to miss out on at least 100 points every round with that defence. Hope the **** I get to play you in the first round of our $$$ league.

Apart from your pissweak defence (too reliant on D1-D4 who are all risky) the rest of your team looks very strong. :thumbsu:

instead of dixon or spuddy, Kurt Tippett will be a second tall.... he is a very good second tall, chappy is a bit old IMO, perhaps wingard instead? My main issue is that you have so many injury prone players, Gray, Clark, Sandilands, Tyson, Thomas, Waters and Suckling. Maybe cut it back to half of these names. Some suitable substitutes may be Fasolo, Grundy, Bock, R.Shaw, Broughton, Gwilt. Along with this, a lot of the players seem like the kind youd have picked 2-3 years ago, this list includes, Chapman, Sandi, Thomas, Watson, and Grimes. Consider Kolodjashnij (either) ahead of the berg, dont think he'll play to much and he is still coming back form a niggling injury that forced him out of the draft combine. I really like Rockliff, Swallow, Martin, Zorko, Naitanui and Suckling as some POD picks, as well as most of the kids you picked, mostly a very good team

Bock has hardly played for 2 years. R Shaw coming back from a year out as well. Fasolo and Gwilt coming back from serious injury too. :rainbow:

Isnt that the point of getting mid pricers? they are coming back form season ending injuries and so are much cheaper?:rainbow::rainbow:

Also, by injury prone I meant, multiple injuries or a series of concurrent injuries

Yeh BUT you said...

My main issue is that you have so many injury prone players

...then you went about listing 4 injury prone players as possible replacements for the injury prone players that he had already selected.
