Your 2nd Favorite Club & Most hated Club

I don't have a second team. I only have a preference for a team in some matches if and when it benefits Collingwood. I don't hate any team, anybody, or anything though, but there are some teams that I dislike more than others. However, I don't particularly like any other team, even though I've purchased a membership to some opposition clubs before to help them.

Ok, here are my posts and here is your reply. Figure it out for yourself. You seem to think that football started sometime around 2000? Carlton have been the top-end-of-town team who have bought players from around the country for as long as I can remember, which is about 40 years. Carlton have always considered themselves above any regulations or laws and always held every other club in contempt due to their being the club of the privileged.. Yes, they copped a bit of come-uppance in the noughties, but their behaviour and attitude goes back to their inception.

hmmm it seems you have inherited your idea's, how did what happened before effected the wanfl and fremantle i wonder??If you are talking aboutVFL PRE-1990'S This was the norm back then, No salary caps and everyone for themselves, some did good thanks to good managment and some other struggled (South melbourne & Fitzroy), you don't see us calling freo the cheating scum-afl golden child with your hands in the cookie jar allowed more than other teams, But i guess you just ride the flow and call carlton cheaters because its the fashion to do so.

Wouldnt bother correlating the data..all useless coz you lot are fickle.
Bit like the way they gather political support for something like a carbon tax..head for where it suits, then dont bother cross referencing with questions like "are you over 21 and actually work for a living"
For the record.
I dont have any 2nd favorite..i hate all the rest equally and totally.

Soft spot: Footscray. People up the street used to take me to all Bulldogs-Hawks games so got to see a lot of Footscray players back in the 80s. Also some interest in North Melbourne because I lived the early part of my life in Flemington - a strong North area back in the day.

Strong dislike: Essendon. Only because my grandfather teased me mercilessly after the Bombers got up in the 1984 Grand Final. I was reduced to tears and he was forced to try and bribe me (50 cents) to get me back on side.

Carlton are hated because they are the club of the arrogant, entitled blue bloods. Supporters and the club are rich, not through any effort of their own, but due to rich family back in Europe. Carlton have an arrogance and an unearned sense of entitlement, with success built due to having a lot of money.

Allegedely, players were offered knighthoods to play for Carlton. Carlton's arrogance was also how they made a proposal to the league to kick the Swans out of the competition, to take Sydney's best players and play all their away games at the SCG, (presumably they would keep their home games at Princes Park:rolleyes:).

Collingwood is easy to hate, but there is also respect for them. Collingwood built their strength, Collingwood earnt their success. Richmond is the same.

2nd team: Melbourne (have a soft spot for Freo too)

Most Hated: Don't have wild passionate hate for any teams but I dislike Carlton and Essendon the most. Hated WCE during the middle 2000's but that rivalry has dissipated now that pretty much only Cox, Kerr and Glass are left. Glass is one of my favourites in the league so not huge hating there anymore. The typical dislike of Collingwood is also there but atm I respect them more than dislike them.

Yeah just reading that, I don't have a "Hated" club. If i could pick out my most hated it would be Geelong or Collingwood or Essendon.
But i have to admit Geelong and Collingwood are the best teams in the comp along with Hawthorn and Carlton.

pure bloody maggies supporter, so I don't have a 2nd team or anything like that, and my most hated team is our opposition for the week. But, I like the idea of this thread, so I'll pick definites:

2nd: Weagles: They have a winning culture, they thrive on success and offer the best they can. I like watching players like Cox/Kerr/Embley and Glass go about and always look forward to the Collingwood/Weagles matches, hoping for a grand final of the sorts in the near future!

Least: Hard to say, there are so many teams I could despise, but I still highly respect them (Hawk's as a club I respect, but their supporters are just shitheaded as us maggie fans) but if I had to pick one that overall I hated the most, I'd have to go with St Kilda, hate their song, I hate the suburb, not one player to come out of St Kilda I've loved to watch play (not even Plugger) and the fact that every fan I know except 1 is just a "oh I follow the Saints". But it's not really hatred so much as a bunch of pet peeves.

Hated: Carlton for obvious reasons. Then Collingwood, who sadly I actually respect and just dislike now. Everyone else is pretty irralavent.

2nd fav: West Coast because of the epic duels and the way they treated Hird / Sheedy in their send off game. Also love watching Geelong all these years, they just play the best brand of footy.

How are they arrogant???wasn't the north melbourne Motto in the 90's arrogant while your supporters walked in to the games like god's chosen people??denis pagan claiming for anyone following north is an honour??or mark thompson while coaching geelong claiming essendon is like god's team and the greatest blah blah, lets not even mention eddie's quotes i don't have all day here.

Carlton have the most diverse supporters in all australia, i used and still am a soccer mad fan and even played for many years in the victorian premier league, but when i was young it was carlton fc that lended us cones and bits and pieces to play soccer among friends, maybe they didn't convert any of us back then but 20 years down the track i can tell you out of 40 people that played soccer for fun at a young age 35 of them are a passionate carlton supporters with most of them yearly members, That's funny when you consider some of them didn't even speak english but can name you the whole line up of the carlton team, even saw few of them on tv passionate enough to be giving the bird to opposing players.

You respect collingwood because they builded up on their own??they also tanked and also had brown envelopes passed around, they spent $20 million in the last 2 years to get the flag, this was a special fund for them to get the flag called the "flag investment fund",imagine if carlton does that??when everyone else does it its ok but carlton does it and its "cheating" "tanking" lol

why is it north struggling with members year in and year out??because you always look for bandwagon followers to convert, Half of your followers from the late 90's are following other teams now but you still justify that by pointing your fingers and carlton for your misfortune, everything is carlton faults we might pinched few but no where near the majority (like Hawthorn or essendon). we didn't see geelong fans calling the swans thieves for pinching greg williams, but the swans find a way to give us hard time of him coming to us pot/kettle.lol

The hell does North have to do with anything?

Also, the hatred for Carlton has nothing to do with the last twenty years. We didn't start hating Carlton because of Elliott and salary cap cheating, they only response to that was 'typical Carlton'.

Carlton is a club born with a silver spoon in it's mouth. Carlton is arrogant, has a sense of entitlement. Carlton became strong because of all the people in Toorak.

Collingwood was the slum suburb of Melbourne. Collingwood had no money to steal players at the start, however Collingwood built themselves from the slums to being the biggest club.

That is why I can respect Collingwood as a football club but not Carlton.

If you think carlton are born with a silver spoon in their mouth what would you say about melbourne then???Golden spoon??Their backers and followers can be mistaken for having a money printing machine at home.If you going with followers and their pockets Melbourne Football club can afford to rename the afl to Melbourne football club Football league, Its melbourne $$$ then daylight then the next afl team. When they were in trouble within 24 hours a cheque was made enough to cover up their debt + other club debts..in 24 hours loool we had to shake some tins in the early 2000's they don't know what tins is only phone calls to caulfield and its surrounds.lol
