If anything a PG would be easier - less shots/rebounds - which are the most common stats....

Hardly.

A PG runs the offence and is the first line of defence.

They are actually having to be tuned into what's happening all around the court movement wise the whole time.

The C position is by far the easiest.

There's just no way...I have a pretty strong short-term memory for numbers (able to recall a phone number after hearing it once, for example) but as a guard I can't imagine trying to keep the sort of stats you describe. There's just so many actually practical things that you have to worry about.

I can usually replay the game in my mind and work out how many buckets I had and how many my man had, but that's about it.

A decent centre has to be talking the whole time on D though, which makes memorizing stats kind of hard as well.

Possibly, but we're talking about social basketball here and most C's range of movement is a few feet from the ring.

While a slight genrealization most talls in social don't have the skill to add say many steals to their stats, it's generally rebs, pts and occasional blocks.

How that other guy kept shooting % I find hard to fathom/believe.

Then again I play a Rondo style PG role so I'm constantly moving. Maybe if I was a stand at the top of the key and just pass it round the perimeter style guard I could try and keep some kind of track of stats.

FWIW I'm primarily a guard, played SF here and there. I can safely say though that whatever position I played it didn't have a direct effect on my memory...

That said, I'm more of a thinking player rather than an "in the moment" intense-type guy (ie. Luke Walton v Garnett), so I didn't have too much trouble playing hard without keeping the stat counter going. It only really got hard when I took lots of shots or had a few fast bits of play to interpret, and I had to actually take a second when there was a lull in the action to count up what the new totals were.

I didn't take every stat of every season, usually it was just shooting and maybe rebounds and blocks.

What have you averaged over your career? Whats your PER?

Hmm, overall career would probably be under 10, maybe 8 or something. I could go back to the records but I don't even know where I kept them all! I was never a high scorer in the juniors, but it woulda picked up in the later years.

Why do all dark-skinned players in local comps, e.g. Indian, Sudanese, think that because they are dark-skinned and play basketball it makes them African-American?

If you've ever played at Dandeong you'll know what I'm talking about.

Maybe because if they are obviously inspired by african americans they watch playing basketball and pick up a role model or two they might act like them, or something else which requires incredibly simple logic to understand

As long as they dont watch Gilbert Arenas or Deltone West you'll be fine

My Sunday night C grade team is looking for a few players next season (starts on 27th of May). We play in the northern suburbs of Melbourne (Mill Park). We play for fun so not after anyone who is going to act like a dick or argue with refs all the time. Mainly looking for people with height since the rest of us are pretty short and we want to be competitive against the bigger teams.
