So, for those who haven't had the joy of reading the last couple of pages of the Boston/Atlanta series thread (see here http://bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=936658&page=13), there's been a bit of a debate raging about the Top 20 NBA players of all time, starting with nbaman suggesting Kevin Garnett makes the cut, and pretty much everyone else disagreeing.

What that in mind, lets see everyone's ranked Top 20 NBA players of all time lists, and see how much difference/convergence exists here.

Personally, I suspect that too many people here are in the 16-24 year old bracket, so grew up around the time of the end of the "Golden Era", and this is affecting their lists.

I'll get this party started. Feel free to pick this apart and call me stupid and handsome;

1. Michael Jordan
2. Bill Russell
3. Magic Johnson
4. Larry Bird
5. Kareem Abdul-Jabar
6. Wilt Chamberlain
7. Shaquille O'Neal
8. Oscar Robertson
9. Jerry West
10. Hakeem Olajuwon
11. Tim Duncan
12. Moses Malone
13. Kobe Bryant
14. John Havlicek
15. Elgin Baylor
16. Julius Erving
17. Bob Cousy
18. Charles Barkley
19. John Stockton
20. David Robinson
Players that I wanted to make the cut, or were just on the cusp : Bob Pettit, Scottie Pippen, Isiah Thomas, David Robinson

Quoting from the other thread so we can stop de-railing the discussion over there...

[regarding me saying Karl Malone is over rated] Really? How so? Relied on Stockton? You must have him ahead of KG?

KG career stats 19-10-4

Malone 25-10-4

As you can see, I only did a top 20, and Karl Malone didn't make my top 20. If I had to go through and do like a top 30 or 40, i'd say Karl Malone would end up somewhere around #28 ish, and KG somewhere around #32 ish.

That's just off the top of my head though, without actually sitting down and figuring it out properly.

You have Wilt twice...

This is gonna be hard to include players I have never seen play but I will give it a go.

Hah. So I do. Herp Derp.

Hrmmm... this means I get to add someone. Will re-evaluate in a second

This is completely off the top of my head without real thought and proper evaluation but my gut says this.

1. Michael Jordan
2. Magic Johnson
3. Bill Russell
4. Wilt Chamberlain
5. Oscar Robertson
6. Larry Bird
7. Kareem Abdul Jabbar
8. Hakeem Olajuwon
9. Jerry West

14. Kobe Bryant
15. Moses Malone
16. Scottie Pippen
17. Bob Cousy

20. Karl Malone

In what world did you live in where Shaq is better than Hakeem?

Scottie pippen is the most underated player of all time. Defence wins championships and he was the best going around

Ive have him ahead of Robinson,Stockton and Barkley @ 17

Pretty good effort straight up though:thumbsu:

I said this in the All time Draft thread but if you go back and watch some games there's no way you'd have Pippen ahead of Barkley.

There was that whole sooky la la when he wouldn't re-enter a play off game because Phil Jackson didn't give him the last shot thing as well.

Stockton and Robinson is debatable but Sir Charles, no way.

And Kobe should be top 10.

4× All-Defensive Second Team (1985, 1991, 1996–1997)
NBA All-Rookie Team (1985)
NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team

Shaq:
