Not exactly a "gig" but I'm wondering if I should go see that musical for Green Day's 'American Idiot' album.

It's one of my favourite ever albums and I've never been to a musical theater type thing before so it might be a good experience personally.

I have it booked in for the 24th... girlfriend has been wanting to go to the theater for a while and this was the only one i was interested in going to. she likes green day as well so it worked out well.

i think we have phil jamieson that night... sarah mcleod (superjesus) & adalita are doing it was well (the booking site tells you who is on what night). i dont really rate phil but gf didnt want to see either of the women.

im actually really looking forward to it, american idiot is a stand up album that still gets a lot of love & regular plays in my house

Roger was really good last night.
Those kids must get a huge kick out of beening apart of the wall act.
Money and the wall was great.

I was there Sunday night never been a big Floyd fan, but my God the music and the spectacle, what have I been missing all these years. I had front row left facing the stage so some of the effect were lost a little, but I did get a fist bump from Roger as he went along the line. Not bad for a $90 ticket bought at the very last minute.

A really awesome gig but i was wondering how tedious some of the songs might of been for those not so into the music who might of been there. I enjoyed the first half more then the second half.

Just got my ticket for this!

Hopefully it goes alright.

Stiff Little Fingers last night at The Rosemount. Lots of aging Brits and Irish squeezed into the new configuration was not the most comfortable that I have ever been, but a magnificent gig. Jake Burns has just the right amount of banter between songs. Amazing energy for a band that have been around for 40 years.

Played everything one would expect, except no covers of Specials songs this time around.

Punk at it's finest.

Saw Roger Waters last night. Not bad but nowhere near as good as previous two visits. Set list was okay. Very Anti Trump too which was great but a bit of an easy target. Also had people handing out pro palestine flyers outside the gates too.

These stupid old campaigners are like any other baby boomer except they hate Tony Abbott instead of liking them. Apparently when you go to a Billy Bragg show all he still talks about are coal miners in the north of England and Margaret Thatcher – I mean both worthy things to get angry about, especially as a working class Englishman – but for ****'s sake it's Australia in the middle of the summer and 30 plus years after all that shit.

I really liked it, particularly the second act the way it revolved around the Animals album was brilliant.

But as much as I liked it, nothing tops The Wall last time, that was probably the best show I've ever seen.

They didn't really surround that album though, I think only 2 songs were done. No Pigs on a Wing or anything. it was like he didn't want to bore everyone doing that album because it's not one of the classics in the mainstream eye.

Those 2 songs went for half an hour! Loved the effect of the factory over the crowd, looked amazing from side on. Dogs is one of their best songs too, an absolute classic but yeah the mainstream fans don't know that album so well.

I'm not a theater person but I actually really enjoyed it. It's basically just the songs back to back a couple of lines in between. Full band. It was every song from the album with some extra parts of maybe 4 songs from 21st century breakdown.... So an hour 15 maybe?

Thanks.

I'm on my way right now to see the 3pm show.

So the Green Day musical was quite entertaining. I loved having one of my favourite ever albums being made into something like that.

Musical theatre isn't my thing to be honest, but this was something that I loved being made into a musical so that made it a great experience. It was a pretty good thing to have as my first musical theatre experience.

I actually got goosebumps a couple of times which says a lot, maybe it was that good or it was just the Green Day fan in me. 'Whatsername' was favourite part.

Thundercat and Kamasi Washington are both in Brisbane in the next two weeks. Life permitting, I should hopefully be at both. Thundercat at the very least.

Saw a band called 'King Cornelius and the Silverbacks' on the weekend. They're a garage rock group fronted by a guy in a planet of the apes style authentic chimp mask with a backing band of great white hunter types in safari suits and pith helmets. All members of the band are from other notabl Perth groups from over the years like Turnstyle, The Neptunes etc. There's even a human slave like from Planet of Apes up front in chains dancing. Such a great gig from a very tight band and play a great mix of monkey related originals and covers. Definitely the best primate related garage rock band going around Perth at the moment.

Both will be brilliant. My niece saw Kamasi a couple of years back in North Carolina and said he was incredible. She and her BF hung out with the band after the gig and she said they were great humans. Would love to catch him, but I can't justify a trip.

Thundercat is an amazing musician. Is he playing with Kamasi's band ?
