Don't know but if he has used it many times before then he would have thought nothing of it. If he has used it before the players he has said it to have ignored it as well. If Zorko didn't know about Petty's mum being sick then it is just really unlucky for Zorko, as in wrong player wrong time

I think the Melbourne club/players need to apologise as well. Melbourne came out third quarter and made a official complaint. The Brisbane club took it seriously. Surely Melbourne need to knock this on the head quickly with a statement. but we are still talking about Zorko here. The latest news is is that Melbourne sledges were far far worse than Zorkos. And they baited him before his stupid Yo Mamma sledge. What quality of people are the Melbourne players. Should Melbourne players be suspended for their actions. Should Melbournes captain stand down because of his clubs actions (tounge in check). I'm only saying this because I've followed this storey all week and Zorko copped a hammering and there was some vile things said about him on forums.

I was furious at Zorko because I thought his comment was aimed at Petty’s mother who was unwell.

The notion she was unwell explained the tears, the comments from Melbourne players and the very strong reaction in the media.

Caro is now claiming Petty’s mum is in good health.

So now, the entire thing makes zero sense.

Why would you be so upset if your mum is fine? Why is it even a story? It’s just a very unimaginative ‘mum’ sledge.

So just to clarify, never trust the media unless what they say is what you want to hear.

You have done exactly what the media do, taken my comment out of context... maybe as I admitted I learnt a lesson, maybe a few others could as well.

We could/should of all just taken a few deep breaths and thought about what the mitigating factors could have been, also if you go through my history you will find I was quite hard on Zorko saying he should have copped a big fine and maybe even a suspension for the final v the Tigers.

I have always been highly sceptical/non trusting of the media, this incident has just served as a reminder and affirmation for that view.

Zorko won't be captain next year. That's clear. He will be lucky to play this week. But you would be a fool if you didn't think the Melbourne players weren't into him all night and weren't themselves guilty of pushing the boundaries.

They went out with the intention to get stuck into him and it worked. Zorko as Captain got sucked in. Poor reflection on him. Next time they play the Melbourne players will be into him even more looking to put him off his game and get a reaction.

Now that we are hearing that some of the sledges from Melbourne players was also below the belt it's no surprise all parties involved wanted the drama shut down very quickly.

I look forward to someone else as captain for the Lions in 2023.

Can of worms has been opened. Seems now that players were giving as good as they got but only one ended up in tears hence the reaction since. Zorko still shouldn’t have said it but it goes from completely a completely heinous comment about someone’s ill mother to just a plain weird and inappropriate comment.
