Chloe Molloy has announced her commitment to the Sydney Swans in a long-term deal ahead of the club’s second season in the competition. Molloy, 24, has been a standout player since making her debut for Collingwood in 2018, winning the AFLW Rising Star award, the Magpies’ Best and Fairest, earning two All Australian selections, and scoring 37 goals in 47 games.
Molloy expressed her excitement about the move to the Harbour City, saying, “I was drawn to the Swans, and I’m eternally grateful for Collingwood and how they turned me into a person that I’m proud to be.”
The Sydney Swans are equally excited to have Molloy on board, with Executive General Manager of AFLW, Kate Mahony, stating, “We’re incredibly excited about Chloe joining the club. She brings plenty of energy and enthusiasm, which will fit perfectly into what we’re trying to build here amongst the playing group.”
Sydney’s AFLW coach, Scott Gowans, who worked with Molloy during his time as an assistant coach at Collingwood, added, “Chloe has proven to be amongst the top echelon of players in the AFLW competition in recent years, and she will set a great example on and off the field for our club moving forward.”
Molloy’s signing marks the start of the AFLW Priority Sign and Trade period, running from March 1st to 8th, followed by the Sign and Trade period from March 10th to 20th for the remaining clubs looking to strengthen their playing roster.
