Lester, who was drafted with pick 28 in the 2010 national draft from the Oakleigh Chargers, reached a major milestone this year, celebrating his 200th game during the Lions’ Round 21 win. His strong form has been crucial, particularly during Brisbane’s challenging start to the season, and he played a key role in helping the team secure their sixth consecutive finals appearance.

Excited about his future at the club, Lester said, “I’m really pleased to stay with the Brisbane Lions for another year. The club has a great environment and culture, which makes coming in each day so enjoyable. I’m also grateful for the impact football has had on my life and my family’s life.”

Lester, who was part of last year’s Grand Final side, will again be a key player in Brisbane’s finals campaign this season.

Brisbane Lions General Manager of Football, Danny Daly, praised Lester’s contributions on and off the field. “Ryan is a selfless, team-first player and leader who is highly respected by everyone at the club,” Daly said. “He’s been in great form over the past two seasons, reminding everyone of his talent and importance to our backline. Ryan has worked hard to earn this new contract, and we’re excited to have him and his family with us for another year.”

Lester’s commitment is seen as a valuable asset as the Lions look ahead to the remainder of 2024 and beyond.
