Thank god Ross Lyon didnt get the Carlton job

Has anyone actually been gloating that he has a new attacking style ??.

I must have missed that.

He hasnt. His assistants' have come up with that. He has already stated this.

All 18 players camped in the defensive half protecting a 4 goal lead against... North Melbourne. Reports of the new 'attacking' Ross Lyon have been highly exaggerated. He's the same coach he was 10 years ago and after a brief honeymoon period the Saints will fall apart 2nd half of this year.

All the gloating in this thread has been premature
you must have missed the 18 NM players in StKildas fwd 50, same as vs Port, Blues, Pies, and every other team.

I think Ross learnt fromst kilda days and learnt to rebuild. You can see on that graph that at Freo the rebuild was good. Injuries hit then got sacked. However Obviously, I don't know much about Freo
Well when Justin Longmuir took over Ross Lyons Freo coaching spot at the end of 2019, 75-80 percent of the rebuild was done.

Ross Lyon gave us finals from 2012-15. No surprise we didn't have early picks.

And you look at the 1st round picks of those seasons used.

I won't count 2011 as dockers finished 13th but dockers had picks 16 and 20. They were used on Tom Sheridan and Hayden Crozier.

2012: Josh Simpson. Had talent on a wing but not the attitude.

2013: Michael Apeness. KPF ruckman. Too many injuries.

2014: Lachie Weller. Gun but traded to gold coast 3 years later.

2015: Harley Bennell trade. Picks 16 and 34 for Bennell and pick 22.

Then comes the fall when Freo wen 0-10 in 2016 and 4-18.

2016: Griffin Logue. Solid tall defender.

2017: Brayshaw at pick 2 from the Weller trade. Cerra at pick 5.

2018: Sam Sturt. 190cm tall forward. Got talen but spent the last 3 years either injured or WAFL.

Having now seen a good sample of what Ross Lyon has done with St Kilda’s awful list, it’s sad to think about what he could do with all the talent at Carlton.

Pitchforks are out and Voss needs to go ASAP.
so much talent going to waste lol!!!!!! You wont be going anywhere with shit trucks like jack silvagni getting a game each week

2011 Dockers had an insanely bad run with injuries as well. Would've made finals easily if they didn't need to play WAFL players that year.

Come on Saints supporters there is no need to rub it in.

I've had a look at the Carlton board tonight and they are still happy with Voss.

Happy if he was marched out of the door tomorrow morning and replaced by Ross.

Hey mate.... Been a while since I posted with you!

Yep but those last 7 games in 2011 were bad. Carlton belted us on one of those 7 games.

But if you got 43 players in the list and you have 16-18 players injured, it's not good.

Look at west coast eagles.

They have 15-18 players out. It doesnt just hurt the senior's but also their WAFL squad.

Eagles WAFL squad got belted by Peel thunder today . (ironic as as peel thunder is the dockers ressies side in the WAFL).

Peels best 22 on a normal game day is 10-12 dockers players and 10-12 peel players that are WAFL standard. Dockers with a full available squad can play up to 15 dockers listed players on Peels best 22.

Most of eagles WAFL 22 that was fielded was filled with amateur players. If they had a full squad, there would be 15-17 eagles players that would be decent at WAFL standard.

Claremont is top by percentage. Peel is 2nd. Both have 5 wins and 1 loss.

And their free-wheeling brand of footy nets another 6 goals.
And they have Harry McKay and Curnow. That's 2 Coleman medal holders on the team. Both can average 3-4 goals a game on a good day.

Ever since they belted west coast eagles, they haven't kicked more than 11 goals in a game.

Let that sink in.

Because a coach who has gotten 2 different teams into 3 grand finals didn’t feel the need to sit down and try and sell himself and his ability when it’s quite obvious to all what he can do.
And if we'd appointed him like that there'd be the calls of messiah complex, same old Carlton etc.

I remain unconvinced that Ross the Boss would have had us fairing much better than we are. If there's one thing that obvious by now surely its that this group are coach killers.
